I would love the vita had better life, I own a 3ds and no vita. The vita had/has a big problem it's the memory card, as it's to expensive. With the 3ds you could have any sd and use it to save. With the vita the memory it's to expensive. Probably it wouldn't be enough to beat nintendo, but it would have sold much better.

I think according to Nintendo themselves and other official sources the sales of the 2DS actually count towards the sales of the 3DS which would actually put the 3DS noticeably higher than the PSP. Oh well. I chose to go with the 2DS because I had played a 3DS before and I didn't care for the 3D features at all so the 2DS being so much cheaper was what I went for and I loved it

If Sony ever makes another handheld console, they need to learn from their past mistakes. No proprietary memory cards. While the Switch does have their own branded micro sd, almost anything good will work. I bought a 400 or so gb sandisk memory card back in May. And had previously used a 128gb micro center one. (Those ones are relatively cheap and pretty reliable.)

Favorite: Although I want to say DS, I'm going to go with "new" 2DS XL as you can still technically play a vast majority of DS games with a few exceptions as well as 3DS, "new" 3DS, SNES, and other eShop games. My only gripes with it is the lack of a slit on the bottom corners to insert a wrist strap like most previous models and the short stylus which I felt would've been a prime time for Nintendo to bring back the original 3DS's telescope style stylus, albeit thick enough to properly fit & stay inside the stylus slot.

You must keep in mind also, that a huge part of the appeal of the PSP was its bustling homebrew custom firmware scene which allowed you to run emulators for just about everything Playstation 1 and prior... which includes every Nintendo console and handheld except N64. I played it frequently from highschool to college (2006-2009) and beyond. Still have it. Once Sony cracked down on all the piracy and released the Vita, they were dead in the water. It had features that PSP lacked (like a second analog stick) but its core audience was starting at universities and careers by then. That coupled with no homebrew during the golden age of piracy spelled doom. Nobody buys a sony handheld for just Killzone or any other mediocre exclusive spinoff of a franchise that was dying alongside Vita.

It's a little bit sad for the PSP to finish just behind the GBA (that is also an amazing handheld console but the PSP is so much complete to play several kind of games on the go, including emulation, so that I consider it as the ultimate portable device to take anywhere). Paradoxically, even the Nintendo DS, best-selling handheld of all time, seems to have aged badly compared to the PSP that was technically superior at its time, so that I still use my PSP very often, whereas my DS is only used during some holidays (but I think that the hack of my PSP has a big impact on this, enabling me to play more games than on my DS - and also the fact that the PS VITA never succeeded to replace the PSP, whereas the 3DS had the DS retro compatibility + new games with new features and over all very successful, and finally the Switch Lite that adds a different portable experience with a good set of games). By the way, this is a pretty good video. I discovered this channel a few hours ago and it really made my day. Congrats from France 🇫🇷

The PSP never had that many interesting games imo. It had a great design, both on hardware and software, in terms of listening to music and watching videos, but most of the games weren't as eye catching as most DS titles were. Back in the day, I pretty much mostly used my PSP as a small MP3/AVI player, as well as a mini PS1 portable console. For DS, I used it for actual DS titles like New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Big Brain Academy, Mario & Luigi Partners in Time, and Super Mario 64 DS. Now I mostly use both my Vita and 3DS as replacements for those consoles since not only they have better backward compatibility, but they both also have great titles on their respective portable consoles as well. Also, hacking the Vita can give you access to Adrenaline, which is a literal PSP emulated interface that's identical to the original PSP and plays pretty much anything that the PSP could, even when hacked (especially with better performance as well). Same with the 3DS as well, which also brings back the DSi interface as well when hacked and installed. So it's pretty much a win win with both Vita and 3DS.

Even if I also like the design, power and multimedia content of the PSP, I have to admit that I don't own many games on this handheld (I bought twice more games on my DS than on my PSP). However, some of the games I mostly used were on PSP (but to be honest, these two or three games were exceptions compared to the majority of my DS games that I also played much - finally, if the DS had had a good soccer game, it would have been perfect and I would have spent less time on my PSP 😅). Furthermore, my PSP GO is pretty useful for emulating old consoles in a very portable format. Concerning Adrenaline, it's a good coincidence that you mention this homebrew, because I discovered it just a few days ago (while I was watching a video about the PS VITA). I still enjoy playing on my PSP but it could be a great alternative if I decide to switch to my PS VITA in the future. Owning also a New 3DS, I didn't know that there was the same kind of emulation about DSi interface, I really enjoyed this handheld too, so it could be very interesting to install it (even if I think I can simply run my DS cartridges on my 3DS, which is great when I think my Vita can't run my PSP UMD). Finally, to me, each of these handheld devices have its strengths and weaknesses, depending of what we search for a portable. And now I understand why you played PSP more because of soccer games XD Honestly, I was never into any sort of sports games (with the exceptions of sports games like Wii Sports, Mario Strikers, Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing, etc.) But yeah, Adrenaline is such a cool homebrew app, as well as Retroarch, which is basically multiple emulators in one. And for those UMD games that you have, there is a way to rip your games off using a homebrew app on the PSP (I forgot what its name was) but you could use that or a Vita homebrew app called PKGj, which allows you to download most PSP/Vita/PS1 games available digitally. Another thing you could use for more space is something called SD2VITA (about $10 or lower), which is a micro-SD adapter for use on the Vita, instead of having to use the expensive official ones (which can be $30 for 16GB or $40 - $80 for 32GB - 64GB). DSi Menu++, which is the DSi interface for the 3DS (basically a DS/DSi game launcher, along with being able to play NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA games), is almost identical to the actual DSi menu. It’s pretty awesome in itself as you can actually play hacked roms with it as well.

EpsilonChurchRVB indeed, in sport simulation games, graphics are very important to get more realistic features. But it doesn't prevent me to like Mario Kart too lol (paradoxically, I'm less interested in realistic car games, such as Need for speed, for example) In fact, Adrenaline literally blew my mind when I saw it in a video. I didn't know Retroarch before (I have many things to learn 😅), that seems very impressive! Now I just want to install it on all my devices lol About my UMD games, I've already got a way to rip them on my memory stick (I did this before with some games that were damaged and didn't run very well or with long loading times). So that I can get them back through ISO files totally legit ;) (even if it has a certain charm to run UMD ^^) I will take a look at PKG though ;) Same with the micro-SD adapter, the price of official cards was so expensive that I couldn't buy a big storage back then. Thanks also for DSi Menu++, I bought the New 3DS in part because of its resemblance with my former DSi. With the actual menu and some additional features, it seems perfect to me. It could also be a great alternative for my PSP I currently use to emulate GBC and GBA, including Pokémon hacked roms ^^
