I’ve had my 2023 Si for just shy of two years and highly recommend it to anyone shopping the segment. Its biggest strengths are its inputs, practicality, affordability, and overall packaging. The shifter is positive, the clutch is friendly and as non-fatiguing as could be, the steering is weighted nicely, accurate, and has a nice ratio (with minimal feel, but nothing that disappoints you on a backroad), and the brakes are intuitively calibrated if a little on the squishy side. The fixed suspension is also very wisely tuned from the factory to provide a ride that’s stiff and confidence inspiring without being uncomfortable. The fuel economy is excellent. I drive spiritedly all of the time and average 29mpg. If I drive it like a normal person, low-mid 30s are completely typical, and hypermiling would put it easily in the upper 30s. The 11th Gen Civic packaging is brilliant. Very practical, very user-friendly, and very spacious. The materials are satisfactory for the price. The sound system is satisfactory, if lacking clarity in the highs and more dynamic bass ranges. Its biggest flaws are its poor sound insulation, rev hang, and overall engine output. General NVH and tire roar are bad, even for the economy sedan segment. Aftermarket insulation won’t fix this, but changing out the stock, low rolling-resistance A/S rubber will at least significantly reduce tire roar. As far as power and rev hang, there are two common tuning devices and two common canned flash providers which are popular in the community, all of which “fix” these issues. Your tuners are Hondata and KTuner; Hondata seems to be the go-to for the Type-R crowd and the KT for the Si. I went with the KTuner. The two most popular flashes are from Phearable (the 1.5) and TSP “Stage 1.” I’ve been running a KTuner + TSP combo for 90% of my ownership and HIGHLY recommend it. Can switch between three maps on the fly (#1 stock ~17psi, #2 20psi, #3 25psi) and virtually eliminates rev hang. The power in map 3 is legitimately satisfactory with claims of ~260hp at the crank without any other supporting mods. It’s a great car for anyone wanting a reliable, practical, affordable, daily driver that can put a smile on their face at legal speeds. I’ve owned *fun* fun cars, like a GT350, and this satiates my need to row gears while grabbing groceries while still having Tardis packaging and not needing to fill up every three days.

For anyone considering the Si, but can wrap their head around why it only has 200hp still: -The LSD is what makes an Si special. You can floor it in 3rd gear on a curvy road and it rips you through that curve no problem. -You can use every ounce of power that engine has on every commute, take it to redline every single day and not have to worry about any issues at all. -If there are actual issues, Honda always comes out with recalls and TSBs to take care of their customers. -Winter tires make it great in light snow, and just upgrading to a gripper all-season or summer tire makes a huge difference. -Gets over 35 mpg with ease (91+ is pricey, but you should never put 87 in it) -Consumable prices and parts are all comparable to the regular models. The Type R consumables are way more expensive performance parts. -Si is so easy to drive and learn manual on. Just get it. Don’t pay over msrp… -The 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque is faster than 90% of regular traffic, but slow enough to keep you out of trouble.

Linear power (yes it should have more HP but it’s more than adequate) and more space in the hatch. I can get 40mpg on the highway and 36mpg in the city, if I’m not focused on fuel economy in the city I still get 30mpg. These new civics are incredible

Tbh, I can’t afford any high end trim to manufactures I want to buy from, but a VW GTI versus a regular Golf has many differences that will be a decider.

A big yes to making the Si as a hatchback or as both a sedan and hatchback again. What I don't like about the Integra, besides the leather and faux luxury bits, is the added height to the the rear of the car. Kinda kills the point of having a hatch and removes the Integra from being a Si hatchback replacement for me. That and there is no need to argue that it would cannibalize Type-R sales. If you can afford a CTR and get one from a dealer with out being robbed, you will. If you can't afford that then you can happily buy an Si.

Si hatchback should be a no-brainer.

Honda should have offered the SI in hatchback. What's the point of being paranoid that it would take sales away from the CTR? How many CTR's do you see on dealer lots?

Great review as alway. I totally agree with all of your suggestions for the next refresh, especially it needing more hp. C’mon Honda get rid of that rev hang!

Like to see a Canadian winter review of the Honda Civic SI 6 manual . Shifts great in the cold or something a kin to a 60 year old farm tractor?

HATCHBACK! What I’d love is a two door hatch. That would be the best.

Y’all missed one key new item for 2025… water temperature gauge… was missing on the outgoing model 😅
