Boom! you are one of the top tutorial creator for Maya. you and MH. Always come back here to learn things. And thanx for indirectly helping me out with my multicut tool behaving buggy. Saw your post on the workaround. if the tool behaves stupid, just hit space and go back into whichever view you were on. thanx a bunch.

the 1.0 value isn't "wrong" it just makes the flow between the normals around on the two other edge. even tho 0.8 works on a cilynder i think test shouldd be made to know how it would act on something more complex.

Thanks giaco89, what type of texturing videos are you interested in? I'm still working full time so I need to keep the videos focused and concise to be able to record one each weekend. I was also thinking about starting a new segment on the channel where I unwrap a specific object, no textures just how to UV map different types of objects. Do you think people would find that useful, it would be more of a workflow video rather than a specific tool or trick which would be different than what I've produced so far. In the future I'd like to get into project based tutorials, but free time doesn't permit that at the moment.

malcolm341 I personally did find all your videos usefull, I think its an awesome idea regards the UV part, you can show how you deal with all the different asset, just keep on doing short video, they're easy to follow and not so long. If you'll put longer tutorial on gumroad I will definitely consider to purchase, depends on the topic 😊

No. The default setting 1.0 isn't broken. If you make a 16 side cylinder and delete only one of the edge, then add it back with multi-cut, apply edge flow 1.0. It will match (almostly) with the original 16-side cylinder. A 0.8 setting would only work if you edit the added flat edges all at once. Actually, multi-cut and edit edge flow one by one (like in the end of this video) is guaranteed for a bad result no matter what setting you are using.
@malcolm341
@malcolm341 2 жыл бұрын
Good point, you must do the edge flow all at once at 0.8 for it to come out perfect.
@chonkychungus

whats the opposite of this, going from smooth (multiple edges) back to jagged (reduced edges)?
@malcolm341

It appears to be zero, strange it's 0.8 one way and zero the other, but I just confirmed it in the top down viewport with a 8 sided and 16 sided cylinder. Or just delete the edges.

Thank you Malcolm. How do you make even holes in a shape that has different face sizes? Let's say you have selected 5 faces in a shape but they have different sizes but same vertex count and you run the "circularize" how do you get same hole size with this tool?

Thank you Malcolm. i.imgur.com/KQLFrtS.png How do you make the same size hole in a face after you use "circularize"? because every face has a different size so you will not get same hole/circle size.
@malcolm341
@malcolm341 6 жыл бұрын
Oh I see what you mean now. Yes that's a bit tricky, it looks like the circularize tool creates different sized holes as you mentioned. Generally when I'm faced with a tool that doesn't do what I need I usually build a kind of template object and trace around it, or in this case a simple boolean might work for what you want. Also I'd do one half of your model and then mirror it to save time once I finished adding the holes. Here's two different ways you could tackle it, take a look at the links below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4DQpomZbpKssLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKSmep53jtB8fNk

I've never seen that, maybe you have some weird history or the shape of the model is not expected, try it on a cylinder like in the video and see if it works.
