The BEST SETTINGS For The Canon Legria HF R806 is not to use the P Mode! Of course the P Mode has a good function and a place. But not if you want to squish all the quality out of this camera!

This camera is a little bit different if we compare it to a DSLR or MIRRORLESS camera. In those cameras, we always want to use the P/Manuel Mode to get all that we can in quality. But why?

In a sports hall, I do not recommend setting it to AUTO. Since the camera is the AUTO quite sensitive. Because when you take a picture over time, the picture will appear too artificial light and then clear light again. So I'm turning this setting off. I prefer to control the exposure and white balance and thus also determine that the light runs evenly over time in a room.

Thanks for this. Very informative. I have just bought one and have two questions. Is it correct that it is not possible to pause recording? I find that incredible. Secondly, I am experimenting with white balance. Is it possible to set the white balance manually and everything else auto?

nice video bro. my question is, why cant I transfer my videos from my cam to the computer because i can take videos and view them on my cam but now when I connect USB cable, it does show on pc that my cam is connected and my SD card is inserted. but the files folder is empty. please help

Thanks! I'm considering purchasing one and I really appreciate that you took the time to make several videos on this particular model, they are informative! I was wondering about a few questions, perhaps you can help me please? 1) is it possible to record video while charging the camera? I want to shoot a still for several hours without having to think about it or attend to the camera. 2) there is no built-in maximum recording time, the limit is only dependent on your SD card size and the quality settings, as for all camcorders, right? Can I go up to, I don't know, 6h straight recording with a 128Gb card? 3) I want to shoot indoors with low-light conditions (videotaping a birth, which happens in quite a dark setting), not caring about noise (it's just for the souvenir, not to make a high quality recording!), would this work well? 0.4 lux in Auto mode seems really good for this. Thank you so much!

1: Yes 2: No limit, exept for SD card 3: Yes you will get nois. But if thats not a problem, this will be a good camera for what your doing

Hey there! I am using the Vixia HF R800 and the image quality either looks oversaturated, or darker than it should be. I am having a really hard time trying to find video quality your displaying in this video. I got studio lighting, so that most likely isn't the issue, I am pretty sure it's within the camera at this point. Any ideas?

Hi! I do post work as well. I dont just film and let it bee as is. In post I change the image so it will fitt what I like (color grading or whit this camera color tweking). Its rearly an image is perfect directly out of any camera. Look in to the free softwere "Davinci Resolve". The light is a nother important thing but that you seams to have ounder control. Other then that I shoot it in auto and I blocked all light I could not control, like window light. Maby you have a fulty unit?. Hope it helps

Hey I'm using the same camera as you and I've followed your setting advice exactly, but I just really can't get the quality as it appears in your video. It keeps on showing 1080 which is always a bit fuzzy. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I putt a slite sharpening in post on my videos. I think I talked about it in my oldest color corecting video. A lot of light is important to when using the Legria / Vixia

See you use Boya lavier mic, must be a vixia and not legria cam then? Or are you recording sound seperate? In South Africa Canon does not bring into our country Vixia but only Legria. Big difference is Mic input on Vixia, the reason I really like mic input is for live streaming. Your input of video was helpful thanks

I use the Legria HF R806. This one have no mic in. Only Vixia HF R800 have that. So I record sound by it self on my phone, then I merge it together in post production. I use the Boya BY-M1 mic.

I suppose you mean that the screen is too dark. You can brighten up the screen in the settings. Click on the house icon -> other setting -> then the second tab. There you will find the settings 🙂

But the auto mode doesn't let you control many of the things, that's why i use any mode but auto, And anyways, this is terrible camera for low light escenarios. I never use Cinema mode since it doesn't work with 60fps (which is what I shoot 8/10 times) (I'm YourTechGuy btw)
