Best Settings, Keybinds and how to fix your Mic in Phasmophobia

In this video I show you the best settings, best keybinds and how to fix your microphone in Phasmophobia! In my opinion the default settings are really bad and you should definitely change a few things to make Phasmophobia look and play so much better! I hope this was useful for you! NOTE: I accidentally swapped my keybinds for local and global push to talk in this video, I use spacebar for GLOBAL push to talk and a mouse button for LOCAL push to talk.

There is a problem my friend has, he built his computer so he has new and old components, where he has openings, (plugs for chargers, etc.) there is one for a mic. and one for a headset, because of this he has to chose either to hear everything and cant talk and vise versa, I suggested getting a multi-plug, for old components like these but it still did not work, is there any way to fix this?

Q for flashlight. for me but i agree spacebar is a nice key. and TAB is often used in other games for inventory. i mean for my minecraft starbound and terraria. so its hardpressed into my mind to use TAB to open it up. and yes i get motion sick when fov is on 90. but the other info helps. but u missed out on reshade. to make the game look even better and scarier.

Bruuh i didn't knew that if you alt tab, you can't talk to the ghost anymore, maybe that was the reason why my board couldn't work. Thank you Insym for showing that!

a good way to test is spirit box. if u talk and u dont see a response its broken. if it says nothing detected the game picked up your voice. i had to explain this to my friend 5 times before i gave up on him. and just let him do anything beside talk to the ghost.

I use the mid mouse button to talk to my team in radio, it's very useful (don't roll the scroll, press it down, it's a third mouse button which is present in almost all mouse models)

My lighting had that hazy effect to it out of nowhere the other day and I had no idea what setting it was, now I know what to fix when I get home! Insym saved phasmo for me!

This is actually the only game where I play it on low FOV, I drop it all the way down to 60, the reason I do this is because the torch only lights up a small circle in the middle of the screen and having a high FOV just makes that circle even smaller. It's so much easier to see at 60FOV just because it's more zoomed in on where the torch is focusing.

Important note: if you can (ie not a streamer or have little background noise), I definitely recommend open mic in multiplayer. Much more immersive and requires you to actually stay quiet during hunts. I also really like having my flashlight button assigned to my Forward mouse button. Feels like I'm actually clicking on a flashlight with my right hand.

Another point, if you have the side buttons on your mouse use 1 of them for global chat and the other for your flashlight, when you have a UV you can right click and mouse button to control all your lighting while still being able to move and look around smoothly

There is actually a third way to fix your mic, which is doing ctrl + alt + delete and then clicking cancel. Not easier, but I have been using that. I didn't know about the double windows key method so I will likely be using that in the future.

Dang, Insym, that VSync-Tip was gorgeous. When I recorded quick gameplay for my friends or so with OBS in other games I never understood why the resulting video had such a terrible, terrible Performance. Thanks a lot for actually making the effort to explain and not just say "Turn it On" :D

So I'm a bit ashamed to say that I've been playing phasmo VERY scarcely for about a month or so.... and I've been wondering if I'm blind. I don't seem to notice a lot of stuff in the game and some effects are just too much for my poor little brain :D And I'm not too tech savvy, and I never thought to look for something like this until I got huffy yesterday, so let me tell you: "Thank you very much". Seriously, from the bottom of my heart. This did make the game a lot cleaner, plus the view? That's just amazing. The volumetric lighting is nice in the farmhouse, it makes the place look dusty. The effect it has on your team mates flashlights is great, especially when it shines through things or around corners. You should definetely give it another try while playing with others.

I completley agree ! Farmhouse looks sick, and the fact that you can have your own flashlight or UV torch laying on the ground (as well as the ones of your team) shining through every details makes it incredible imo

I have most of the same settings as you but the only difference is that I kept t as flashlight and changed dropping things to r just because it was getting annoying having to move my fingers to the g key

my key bindings, after 100+ hours of game: E for run, which is next to W for walk forward, so i have the 2 keys to RUN FORWARD without getting bad hand positions R and F for pick up and drop objects, near move keys and near one to the other. needs some time to get used to cycle objects with wheel mouse, RMB for enable object, and another mouse btn (back) for place/use object i have a logitech mouse with infiniwheel, so i change wheel mode to "clicky" for the game (usually do in all games not only in phasmo) mouse btn (forward) for RADIO voice chat. and leave local push to talk off (no need to use a btn for that, im not streamer :p) Q for enable flashlight C for crouch, is below D which is right so is easy spor for it, easy to reach than Z or X (or ctrl, shift, etc) finally i leave J for journal... i only check it outside the house/scenery, no need for a fast reach to it. will test some of the graphic settings. good vid. ps. and maybe some weird behavior with spirit box is caused for using alt-tab to check something on steam or whatever while ingame and returning to game alt-tabbin' again. :/ (which i should know as its warned in more videos, but i tend to forget it) :/

I changed crouch to spacebar, then the push to talks to my left side mouse buttons; local is forward side button and global is backward side button. Thumb easily reaches all 👍🏼

I've always heard to just cap 2 frames under your refresh rate instead of using V-Sync so I wonder how that affects recording.

omg thanks for the video dude ! I was struggling so much with the cursor especially when picking up the bone and did not know about that ... for the FOV i tried but i have a super ultrawide monitor (Samsung G9) and this will give me motion sickness for sure as the FOV is already large on that kind of monitor xD

Only thing, I don't like V-Sync because it can give you input lag. I prefer to cap the frames in "Manage 3D settings" in NVIDIA control panel and then set my monitor refresh rate at a number that is higher in order to avoid screen tearing. E.g. 144Fps at 240Hz. You used to be able to cap your frames for AMD cards using Catalyst Control Centre however they updated to Radeon Software and I'm not sure where it would be on that. It doesn't necessarily look as smooth as V-Sync but I personally prefer a more responsive game.

well, that option isn't there anymore actually in the "pc settings" option so not sure about that:D only option is in audio for "voice input mode" there is "push to talk" , "voice activation" and "toggle". I assume the regular push to talk would be the option for this

Ok, so i didnt think i would learn anything from this but i still did. 1. The unused keys. I use push to talk on my mouse as the "backwards" button. The journal one was actually pretty nice. 2. The volumetric lighting could be why i never saw a wisp/cloud ghost event. 3. The vsync i always turn off and as a fellow content creator, this explains my bad framerate while streaming. I turn this off because i hate the input lag and vsync downs performance a bit. So maybe i can improve on this tip: In nvidia control panel you can limit your fps at all games without the need for vsync. This might help reduce resources while not messing with the inputlag. Great video as usual I was wondering how can I go as fast as you to put items in my equipement list ? Looks like you're holding a key while swiping on all "ALL" buttons with your mouse. I've tried many different things but it never worked :(

Insym uses a Razer Macro that is set as an auto clicker, so when he turns it on he can scroll over the items and it clicks them all. Hope this helped!

I personally prefer putting my sprint to Space because you're usually sprinting all the time because there's no toggle option for it and it usually gets tiring on my pinky finger. Just laying my thumb across Space and being able to keep my hand in a more relaxed position feels better for me.

My advice would be to go to your windows settings > Apps > Uninstall after that restart your PC and when it's all done re-download it The main reason to restart your PC is so that it will recognize the game was uninstalled successfully, there is a chance that the corrupt file won't be deleted if you don't restart your PC. P.S if none of this works, your steam/store didn't download the file properly and you need to submit a bug report

lower field of view makes it more immersive and scarier :) I recommend it keeping it at 60-70 if you want to get scared

there is another bug with mic.. at least I experienced it if i start steam in admin mode, the ingame mic for spirit box and Ouija board doesn't work.. so if anyone is having trouble, and nothing has worked so far, try opening steam without admin access..
