I bought a Savage 220 F 20 gauge and 2015 put a leupold ultimate slam s.a.b.r and followed leupolds protocol to a tee. Shoots five inch groups at 200 yds.Shot a doe at 145 yds first time using it sitting in a tree stand with no rest. Totally confident out to 200 yards with it. It's all the scope anyone with a shotgun or Muzzleloader will ever need.

Thanks for watching guys! Really excited about the scope we picked for this gun. Hopefully this will help any shotgun hunters that are on the fence!

I live and hunt in Connecticut, a shotgun state. I'm shooting the SAVAGE 220 and its topped with a NIKON BDS scope for now. I"ve always been a huge Leopold fan, but never thought about using the CDS for a shotgun slug. Wish you guys did the follow up video so I could see the group results at both 100 and 200 yards! What's your preferred round for this 212? I'm sure it's a saboted slug, perhaps the HORNADY?
@bernard8272 Жыл бұрын
I use tall see thru mounts. The higher distance above the barrel compensates for the arching trajectory of slugs. It makes it seem to shoot flat beyond 120 yards.

Mossberg 500 with sst rounds easy get 150 all day
@TheBeefSlayer3 ай бұрын
Difference is the scope mounts to the action that the barrel is actually screwed into on the savage. On the mossberg, the barrel comes on and off easily with the end cap and maybe doesn’t stay in the same position every time, and the scope mounts to the shotgun action. So basically on the savage bolt action the scope mounts hard to the barrel . In the mossberg the scope mounts to the action and the barrel moves around.

I have the same savage 212 and my first season with it I dropped 3 deer. If you want to take that slug hunter to the next level, ditch that plastic stock and get yourself a Boyd's custom wood stock. I noticed much tighter groupings right off the bat.

Hey bud - thanks for sharing. I have. Savage 220 Rifled, think this scope could work??
@lastbreathtv43324 жыл бұрын
This scope would absolutely work. We just sighted it in, and it has been AWESOME with the adjustments on the dial. The other day we were dinging an 8" steel target at 200 yards, farther than we have ever shot that gun. It's going to be a game changer this shotgun season, and the 220, many people say is more accurate than the 212 that we have. I think that combo would be incredible! Thanks for watching!!!

Nikon still makes hunting scopes. I run a PROSTAFF P3 SHOTGUN 3-9x40 BDC 200 on my HR Ultra. You said that and I immediately went to nikon and looked. You can't beat the quality of the P3.
@lastbreathtv43324 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we've been working for Nikon for 5 years, and they are liquidating all of their inventory over the next 2 years before closing up shop. We had a similar scope with the bdc reticle for our shotgun too!

I have.a 220 with a vx2 cds scope. Love it except for the cost of the ammo as it likes Remington accutips. I use DNZ game reaper mounts for all of my guns. I have a Savage 116 in a 308 that I use mostly to practice with so helps keep a similar platform to the 220.
@lastbreathtv43324 жыл бұрын
1st of all, thanks for watching man! Those 220s are SWEET!!! Many of our team members have those, and are in love with the setup! You aren't kidding on the cost of ammo. It is expensive!!!

@davidstephenson71943 жыл бұрын
Pay more for your scope than for your gun?? Not sure why you need 14 power scope to shoot 200 yds either.....overkill IMO but to each their own I guess. Never had a problem killing a deer at 200 with a 3 x 9 on any of my rifles...I would opt for a bigger objective for low light shooting instead of more power for the potential long shot.
@lastbreathtv43323 жыл бұрын
Yep, to each their own. We just want 200-250 to feel like a much easier shot.

Awesome review guys keep them coming! I bought a Savage F220 about 3 years ago with a Leupold ULTIMATESLAM 3-9x40mm Scope. I absolutely love this gun and oh yea it still has the original Indian logo, I hate how all these companies have caved to the politically correct bullshit! Before my F220 I shot a Remington 870 that I have had since 1988, I killed alot of deer with that gun but I can reach out allot farther with the Savage and it is a hell of allot easier on this old mans shoulder. LMAO!
@lastbreathtv43324 жыл бұрын
I hear ya Steve! That 220 is LIGHTS OUT at distance. Almost like a rifle with a really big bullet🤣 About the savage logo, we agree, I understand why companies are doing it, but man...when does the buck stop?

We Natives are VERY aware that Savage used our images for their sales. They were calling us savages. I know that is not the point of this vid and I'm not a flaming libtard, but Savage did the right thing by removing their awful logo.

Nonsense, Savage gun company was started by Arthur William Savage in 1894 and there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that he used the Indian Head logo to represent a Savage. In fact, since it is a Chieftain head logo one could just as easily surmise that it was used to represent top of the pecking order.,the authority in rifles.

Savage just change their logo I haven't bought a single new rifle from them since- big 🤌🏽- for doing that. All of my savages have the Indian logo on it it made my grandparents proud of it glad they passed away before 2017 before savage and the rest of America pronunciation got ride of the logos. But where the Indian in the stock on one I put a Indian head nickel on it much better looking for my.
