I had my x compact for almost 5 months and it's one complete phone. Amazing battery, very fast and powerful performance and screen res is very sharp. My only gripe with this phone is that the auto focus on the camera is a tad slow, but other than that the camera picture quality is awesome for a phone this size.

Fantastic Review. I have been on the fence on this phone since the z5 I owned was pretty bad ( I got it used it may have been abused internally) .. My z1 compact was amazing though. I hate these large phones. I wish other manufacters would bring back normal sized phones with flag ship specs. I would pay premium $$$

haven't tried it myself but supposedly lots of folks have downloaded an international version of the firmware to enable the fingerprint reader in the US. Annoying but a free way to beat them not wanting to fight American patents.

I have the X Compact. It is very slippery phone and I can’t find any good case that improves the grip. So I think Z5 compact may be better for one handed use.

yea but that high antutu score is mainly due to its better 3d performance. the rest is kinda equal and in every day performance u wont notice a difference. multitasking, browsing, the time apps need to open up and watching videos is highly fluent on the a3. and 95 % of the games are running without fps drops as well. so overall in 1 or 2 years there may be games where u gotta notice a major difference between those 2. the design and the materials of the sony phone are also not my thing, thats at least what i think. the a3 is made only of glass and aluminum and it doesnt have these pronounced edges. to summ it up, at the moment those 2 phones are totally equal in terms of performance. and if ure like me and dont appreciate the design of the xperia u rather tend to grab the a3. if youre thinking of couple of years from now and dont mind how the xperia looks, then u better go for that one.

Nice that it's small, but too bad it's so boxy and the finish is so slippery. The S5 mini is an example of a nice form. Small, good grip, light weight.

This phone was on Nougat when I made this video. Everything I said about the battery in the video answers your questions. Basically, under moderate-to-heavy use, the phone lasts about 5-7 hours of screen-on time.

XZ1 Compact is the new small phone king... SD835 and yes water resistance is back!

This phone costs $360 where I live and it's too outdated for me rn, I'll wait for the next version if Sony ever release one.

It's priced even higher than the Xperia X compact such a shame, I'll wait for the official release to see how much it's priced because the US version doesn't have fingerprint scanner and Europe mobiles are always high priced. Very impressed with the new XZ1 Compact in terms of features though.

its a shame that sony's cameras arent the best. the have some great dslr cameras but they seem to be able to do the same for phones. hopefully they will stop adding megapixels at least and work on some actual improvements

I like your review. 360 is still too much! Especially when it's a year old. Nope, I'd rather pay twice the amount for something future proof. Sony is overpriced most of the time. I wanted this phone. Still searching for a 5 inch phone.

If you are looking for a compact Xperia nowdays, don't buy compact models older than this, this can run well also in 2019 because it has decent hardware, but the z5 compact has only 2gb of ram, so i don't think it's a good choice, in a few days im gonna buy an x compact on the used market for 60 euros, i can tell you in a couple of days how it performs with Oreo and updated applications

Charles Jung. Every thing is not just specs. Sony give best fearure better than one plus 3t and one plus 3t 440 dollar. Xc support highres audio and sony always looks premium

Muzzamil Ahmad In my opinion high res audio doesn't beat the top specs that the OnePlus 3 has. And I don't think plastic looks more premium than aluminum. But hey if you like it more, then go for it. Everyone has their own opinion.
