As a coastal Georgia resident, you are one smart man. We grow the them big on the coastal islands, and I mean big. I have no problem with snakes, wouldn’t hurt one. However you need to be smart if you’re in the woods!

Man I just wear snake chap it covers higher and once at hunt site I can take them off . There’s some big rattlesnakes in Texas. Glad you mentioned how high they strike. I got bite in the hand one day in deep brush luckily I had thick leather gloves and some how it didn’t go through. I was lucky

Yep the timbers and the diamondbacks can hit higher than the boots. And a cotton up in the brush can do the same. Snake boots ate good protection but still need to be very careful in thick stuff

Jason I'm in Texas and occasionally run into rattlers(give em wide birth). Have same boots that you wore other time as you mention. I place waterproofing wax/spray on the 3x before wearing out the box. Them after season treat em again same way...never had water get thru up to mid shin level. But I'm walking thru water not slow standing or walking. Get thru water fairly quickly

I get the waterproof of my rubber boot with the protection of snake gaiters. Mind u toe are is still open but hoping theyl hit high if It ever happens.

Florida hunter here.. I just ordered the Rocky prolite lace up boots from your recommendation….. I usually wear crocs and sock, or sneakers with a snake wrap on… only problem was it left my foot exposed. Crocs and socks are the most comfortable. I’m always walking in water about knee high or more, so rubber boots are useless. Thanks for the review!👌

I can attest that the Dryshod viperstop and destroyer are very durable and high mileage. BUT are heavy lead weights with little "flex/give" (makes slipping stealthily toe to heel a bit cumbersome until stretched and broken in). The fit is good. No rub. No sore foot soles at the end of the day (Upgrade insoles) . Hot but OKish air flow (by lining design). Had my dad try them for a day and the weight wore out his bad knee. I bought him a pair of Alpha agility and he loves them. But has complained of the warmth and sweating. I guess with a rubber boot there's always some trade offs weather it's durability/longevity,weight,heat,comfort. Just to pricey to try them all at once. I reckon I'll get a pair of alpha agilities for myself and give them a try.
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 10 ай бұрын
Yep those dryshod boots are as tough as a boot can get. I was so excited to try them. But the weight was too much when walking 10 miles a day for me. But for anyone that is not walking that far I would very highly recommend them. my agility snakers sprung a leak 2 days after making this video. Same as my 4x alphas, split right at the heal. And they dont make the 4x anymore. So the agility is my best option available right now. But sucks to buy a new pair 3 or 4 times a year.

@tradbowpodcast I just got in from academy 😂 after trying on the Agility and realizing the comfort and that they are light as a feather! I had to get a pair. I can definitely tell they are NOT rugged BUT I think if I only wear them on days I plan a long walk where comfort is most important and rotate them out with my other boots they may hold up a little longer. They are extremely comfortable! I wonder if they'll stand by the "1 year warranty " in your case.

Back in the 70s and 80s there was a company that made leather snake boots. I forget what tanning process they used. By the time I got to where I could afford some, I couldn't find any sign of the company. A friend from the Ozarks said some people would cut a section of stove pipe to fit over their calves. Sounds like a clumsy way to walk through the woods.

Lots of companies make leather snake boots now. Danner, Chippawa, etc. And they are fantastic. just expensive and still not fully waterproof. Yep down here people talk about how they used to take palm frons and tie them around their legs to help stop snake fangs. crazy what people did to be able to enjoy the outdoors. I have much respect for them. Was no antivenom back then either. Many people died from snake bites.

the best snake boots ive used so far and ive used em all are the dryshod viperstop best of both worlds water and snake proof going on 4 seasons still going strong.. the draw back to snake boots is they are not warm at all here in north FL. you only need em warm maybe 10-15 sits when its in the low 30s high 20s. cause I have stepped on snakes with ice on the ground and they where still moving and biting so dont tell me they dont move when its cold that BS...wish they made a snake boot that had some kind of insert for those cold days...the dryshods are not that hot to me and my 2 buddies who use them nor that heavy but maybe im just used to them when its in the low 30s my foot gets real cold after an hour...yes you need snake boots when its in the 30s seen tons of rattle snakes when its freezing out side here in north west Florida so that not needing them below 60 is a BS

@@SamkoTradBow Thanks. On my land, I might run into two or three venomous snakes a year but I usually see tons of non-venomous snakes all year long. Since I live in NC, the snakes are out all year long. I usually don't hurt any snake unless they're near my kennel. I've found 2 to 3 of my dogs dead from timber rattlers. My wife HATES any kind of snake and wants them ALL dead so I try to make sure she does not see the ones I allow to slither to safety without any harm. Again, she HATES all snakes. In my 46 years of marriage, she has never changed her feelings towards snakes. So again, I just don't tell her about those snakes that I've redirected so that they will not come into her view.

I didnt like the feel of the zipper boots flexed weird for me. And the lace ups go on and off very easy. I never tighten up the bottoms or anything like that. its as quick as putting on tennis shoes. stick foot in, pull the top of the laces and tie a knot. Thats all I do.
