Stephen Hendry was the eventual winner, after defeating Jimmy White 18-14 in the final. At one point White led by 14-8, but Hendry then won 10 successive frames to secure his second World Championship title.
Jimmy White led 14-8 and with two frames left of the third session he looked on course to at last win that elusive world title. White took on a plant in the 23rd frame when a safety shot was the more obvious choice. His effort missed and Hendry cleared to win that frame and the next to only trail by four going into the evening session. Hendry won eight straight frames that evening to win his second world title and condem White to his fourth world final defeat.

Everything in snooker changed after this come back ! Basically a no miss snooker and let’s be honest white was good but he was up against the new master ! I give that to Sullivan now but hendry when he was two up on white I only think the Sullivan could have matched him. Even he says that this was as good as you can get on a snooker table . If wasn’t for hendrys cue break I think he would have a couple more and a lot of people forget even with that new cue in 2005 I think got back to number one in the world but struggled past semis

This was a horrendous bottle job from White along with the 94 final frame. Hendry the goat for me total ruthless and pounced on every mistake.

Hendry was out on his own where mental toughness and unflappable belief was concerned. Just smoothly went about his business as if he couldn't see what all the fuss was about. First class break building and nerves of steel. A legend.

Don’t forget though, White got a 147 that year. Hendry got £150k for winning. White got £90k as runner-up, £100k for the 147 and £14k for the highest break. A sport where the runner-up won 36% more prize money than the winner!

Very true but im sure jimmy would have sacrificed the 147 and taken the 150k if it meant him winning the world championship.

@@homeofsnooker147 yeah those were amazing shots but the brown before was a risky pot in a very tough situation and winning the frame probably gave hendry an amazing boost and was a huge factor in him winning the title. All in all great comeback and a great compilation 👌

Jimmy White was a choker in the worlds finals and Hendry took full advantage of that... Besides Hendry, John Parrot and Steve Davies also beat White in worlds final. He just can't win a final of world championship.

@@hafizmuqeem2766 It also must be pointed out Hendry had a shoulder injury in 1994. So had Stephen been fully fit, it's not at all unreasonable to assume Hendry would have smashed him easily like the other matches between them. White got the everliving daylights beat out of him losing about 15 matches in a row. That's borderline humiliation. Hendry was just a much better player than White it's that simple.

@@hafizmuqeem2766 .. ok but i guess it is about degrees. I though choking was when you completely go to water. I did not see that. A great player puts pressure on you and it can be relentless.

@@hafizmuqeem2766 ... ok I accept your point but I have seen alot worse. Greg Norman in golf was another good example. Becoming the best means getting over the final hurdle. You can make that leap hard for yourself.

Serious bottle job from White; granted, Hendry played some great stuff, but at 14-8 up, White had plenty good chances to extend that, and bottled it with poor play.

White is the classic bottle-merchant and will always typify the ultimate bottling of any sportsman. It's tragic, and he just didn't have what it takes on the ultimate stage. Were I not utterly convinced of his genuine distress at not winning due to the beating his ego took over the years, I'd think he was throwing the matches a la Stephen Lee. Poor lad.
