This classic match wasn't included on BBC's Crucible Classics programme. The 69 break alone that Higgins made makes it worthy of inclusion. The Davis v Knowles 1st round match in 82 wasn't a classic, just a big shock. Davis was piss poor in that match. Even an Ebdon match was included.

They both had enormous fanbases - that's what helped to make the match so memorable. It was one that no one wanted their man to lose, but if they did they would be happy to lose to the other fella - if that makes sense. The 1982 Championship was the greatest ever, in my view. Much of the country was in tears of joy when Alex won it. The scenes with the baby are some of the most memorable in the history of the sport - surpassed only by Dennis Taylor's 1985 late night triumph.
25:00 was that intentional or a fluke? Alex behaves like it was intentional and I doubt he would miss the pocket by that much, but it looks crazy for it to be intentional.

Alex Higgins was one of the greatest ever potters because once he loses fine position, he struggles to get it back and is forced to play the big pots. The 69 break in the penultimate frame is a superb example of the man. Half the break he is battling for position, pulling off multiple top drawer shots to stay in the frame until finally he recovers his position in the last half. Whichever - great entertainment and his unpredictability and skills are missed.

@@bobwallacejnr6852 Quite the opposite Ronnie is a far better and more stylish player than either Higgins and White. His cue is like a magic wand and he makes the cue ball dance to his tune Also Ronnie is the fastest player the game has ever seen, making his maximum in '97 in 5 m 8 s, that's 8.5 s per shot.
