The Lee and Ditko era I always think is the best starting point for new readers. Although I will say, Stan's dialogue can be exhausting at times.

I honestly think the best way to ease into reading spiderman is first reading Ultimate, is way easier to get into and gives you a general idea of most spiderman stories and important arcs over 40 years in only 150 issues

@@carlosm.sierra1465The way I’d put it… if you are looking to get into the mainline Spider-Man stories, Lee and Ditko’s work is the best starting point. If you are looking to get into Spider-Man in general… the original Ultimate Spider-Man is a pretty great entry point because of how modern the world is compared to the Lee and Ditko run. Maybe a few years down the line we might say the same for the excellent new Ultimate Spider-Man series, but I feel it’s too soon to tell considering how different a story it is and how it actively hinges on clever changes to the normal Spider-Man mythos.

@@taealvon1710 That’s fair. As much as I like Ditko’s weird style… to say it’s a bit more of an acquired taste is an understatement. Some people (like me) will probably like it, some probably won’t. Especially if they prefer more modern art styles. My personal favorite artist is Mark Bagley, for example.

I'm actually disappointed of how underrated "The Death of Jean DeWolff" is since it helped play a part in Venom's origin. Jean DeWolff first appeared in Marvel Team-Up #48 Vol. 1 helping Spider-Man and Iron Man. Before her death, her last adventure was in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man Annual Vol. 1 #5. I would say it took guts for Peter David (known for his Incredible Hulk run) to kill off a character like Jean who worked close with not just Spidey, but other superheroes as well. Another thing to note, later that same year, in April 1985, Peter removed the symbiote in Web of Spider-Man #1 Vol. 1, but this arc takes place in October 1985's Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 1 107, funny how continuity works.

That’s because in Spectacular # 99 he got a cloth version of the black suit from Black Cat, as she was a stand-in for the fans who loved the suit so much they couldn’t let it go. This cloth version would return in JMS’s “Back in Black” run, which takes place after Civil War.

I used to buy JUST the "Spider titles" exclusively, and I had to sell them to move, however, I did manage to keep a few, almost the entire Morlun saga, even the famous "BLACK ISSUE" which dealt directly with 9/11 and the aftermath. I also have the hologram covers, Spiderman Spectacular, #2 in full color by my favorite Spidey artist of all time John Romita, and his son ain't bad either, Thank you for a good video.

The Gift is my favourite Spider-Man comic. It’s about the death of Aunt May which yes was retconned but I’m choosing to ignore it. The scene on top of Empire State Building was so sweet and the ending straight up made me cry. It’s really bittersweet because you know Aunt May lived a full life but it’s really sad seeing Peters reaction to it and Bens reaction to it on top of a roof all alone. Peter has his wife Mary Jane and Mary Janes aunt Anna though. It’s a beautiful send off to one of the most important characters in Spider-Man’s history. This was a great list of Spider-Man best Comics I’ve always wondered how good maximum carnage was I’ve heard good things about it thanks as always Spider-Dunk with great videos of everyone’s favorite web head also the Nick Spencer run is not bad sure the beginning of his run was the best and then it did get bogged down but that was due to editorial however the latter of his run is a hell of a lot better than Zeb wells entire run of ASM

In my opinion, The Lee/Romita run is better than the Lee/Ditko run. I think that they hold up and read better. And Peter starts to grow in these . We got the Goblin unmasking stories, The Kingpin stories, Captain Stacy’s death, The Silvermane (He should have stayed dead, although I do love him .)story , etc .

I like your videos bro but selling death of jean de wulf as a murder mystery that the audience can have fun reading and figuring out who the killer is as they read then proceeding to just flat out tell everybody exactly what happens in the entire book seems a little contradictory.
