You can upgrade the frog spirit to mythical rarity if you defeat all of them, then the attack changes from him swinging his tongue to roaring at your enemies and the spirit is basically frog roulette because it’s a different one each time and the damage type varies based on the frog you get, for example the ice frog roars ice, the fire frog roars fire, and the electric one(the worst one) roars tiny electric balls that slowly go towards your opponent and do horrible damage, all the frogs(except the electric one)are OP and when paired with the celestial birthstone fragment curio, makes them extremely powerful especially if you’re you get ice frog. Mama always said life was like a box mythical magic frogs, you never know what you’re gonna get.

dont forget the curio that is legendary ignores enemies 4 bane resistances helps the frog alot, because you never know what bane is gonna happen from it.

Non Able with gold armor that raises crit, restore qi and might after crits, and buffs you after using a spirit. This has been my go to for a while now. But I also like to use gold armor with that frost bat spirit and the fan that creates tornado.

The Crow Diviner Spirit is amazing but rarely talked about. It has low Qi cost so you can use it more than once in boss fights, gives you a frame to dodge attacks, as well as freezing the boss multiple times. Also great for small enemies.

I straight up just ran with the Wandering Wight through the whole game and NG+. The +20 to defense and quick high damage hit make him worth keeping. Especially if you dont like long spirit animations.

Non-able is very underrated. Has like 5 second cooldown if you keep attacking and is very versatile cause you can use it anywhere in your combo without interrupting it (has different attacks if you are using the speer btw). Combine it with the armor set that gives you attack when you use a spirit or vessel and if you have all 4 pieces you can use it even more often

tiger acolyte is my go to. been using it since i got it on my first play through. light attack combo to stun. use tiger acolyte to stun again. then the unique gives you moderate crit damage and it has a fast cooldown. its being slept on for sure

The Apramana Bat is great for flash freezing bosses. Sometimes. Does good damage too. But can slow you if you arent careful. Wight is def great though.

Aslo side note: the Goar-Eyed Spirit aslo apply to your clones as well. And hitting your combos finished with a heavy does crazy damage. Also it outta all your clones there 2 clones an automatic emobilization if you continue your combos.

Wolf Assassin for me. May be the most basic one but I do like the simplicity of it. Nice dodge to the left, mid range, decent damage and low Qi when fully upgraded. Crit chance is a nice bonus as well

Criminal not including Earth (Earthen?) Wolf. Wight does slightly more damage, but you’ll miss half or more attempts and take tons of damage. Wolf does slightly less, but only really if you miss a second of the charge. Gap close makes it way more viable. Wight has a high skill floor but low ceiling. Wolf has a slightly lower floor but much higher skill ceiling. Best in the game

Using Earth Wolf and the walking staff spin gives 4th level charge in the time it takes most bosses to shake off your previous 4th level charge heavy. You can straight up stun lock most bosses in the game this way

Mad Tiger is one of the absolute worst spirits in the game. You lose MASSIVE amount of health when you equip it - 75 health. And his skill is basically useless. If you want similar skill but way better stats, the Father of Stones is a much better option. He AoE shouts twice and also gives you 1% crit hit and 3% crit dmg. It's also criminal to ignore the Apramana Bat. Granted, it provides no bonus. But it's a boss killing machine since it freezes everything instantly (and also deals significant dmg). With Golden Armor Set and a Qi gourd and spin attack you can basically stunlock anything in the game with immobilize and this bat and just spam 4 focus points heavy attacks for free. Anything that provides additional immobilize is God tier imho.

I love the non-void personally. It has no offensive capability, but it recharges SUPER fast (in seconds if you get a combo off) , and gives you a dodge + short invincibility. Invaluable in longer fights against the hard bosses.

Non-Able is pretty OP I've found, do four hits in your combo and right before you do your light attack finisher pop the spirit, then when you come out of it attack straight away and it'll be your finisher, like a double high damage-dealing stun

I personally find gore eye to be mostly useless. Most difficult bosses move too fast and will react to your transformation before you can get the staff down. Between the transformation and setting the staff down it's nearly a 5 second gap between them. So it's really only useful on a very small amount of bosses.

I started using Falcon Hermit. It tosses a freezing tornado and basically acts as a long lasting immobilize. If you're getting crits in using Gold set you can basically spam it and lock the enemies.

I used Wandering Wight for almost the entire game. Then I switched to the guy that has his hands tied up for a while, before finally landing on Father of Stone or whatever it's called. The scream staggers pretty much every enemy, including most bosses, and does solid damage. On top of that, the passive stat bonuses are very nice for a crit build

it’s hard to see because the mad tigers body is so big but you actually throw a rock foward it’s surprising really hard to aim with because it doesn’t like the lock-on, so it’s best to use as a shotgun but if you get good you can snipe with it.

Gore eye spirit is what I'm using for the erlang battle. I got him down to his final form of fight 1 and died, but using gore eye right after using the fan to breaks his armor allows you to increase damage while his armors down. Very powerful. The extra mana is great too cuz why not?

Right now I’m using the Tiger’s Acolyte spirit, he’s a bit slow on start-up but if you use him from 30 feet away that won’t matter… he can close the gap in an instant and you get cool katana-man aesthetics as a bonus. But as far as a proper build goes, I might be going back to get that rattle-drum boss spirit… I’m looking at something of a glass-cannon build centered around the Thrust stance and trading health for attack power is perfect for that.

Right? I was using it with the focus curio and stone form armor for even more focus on parry. Basically never ran out, just spammed varied combos each fight, damn near trivialized the game until the last couple bosses.

Wandering Wight is alright but if you're looking for similar damage for like half the Qi-cost take the second rat prince or similar Qi-cost but higher damage by using the Flint guy that makes the lava pools. Super low cost compared to Wight would be the Commander Beetle, which does solid AoE damage very very quickly and you get it back every couple of seconds if you play well. Wight is overrated.
