You guys are hilarious. Andrew lays out clear logic on a sports watch - light weight, would play golf or tennis in it and then picks a watch that doesn’t meet any of those things (like when they did divers where he said no numbers and then picked the Fifty Fathoms). Adrian wants to be diverse and interesting and then goes back to his Rolex comfort zone. And lastly George can’t help himself and picks the closest thing to a high end Tag he could find. It goes to show you that we love what we love and when forced to choose there is no logic to what we like best. Can’t help being ourselves. The best part is that you all think you have cracked the code and chosen something out of your predictable lane and then are so shocked when your peers bring you back to reality. Great entertainment and keep being yourselves.

Adrian: _Rolex YachtMaster 42_ Me: ...really bro? That Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF is 1000 times prettier than that Rolex. Stunning watch. The Vacheron is magnificent, and wins out of the three without a shadow of a doubt though. That watch makes my soul itch. Achingly beautiful.

gotta give GB the dub. that Chopard is a true sports watch. the rolex Titanium YM is unobtanium and agree with GB that you gotta have the regatta timer on it to make it a true sports watch. and the overseas with pointer date and moonphase is a dressier piece due to its complications, on a bracelet.

Not a big fan of releasing these Watches & Wonders episodes so many months after the event happened. I understand the Episodes shot in the Studio are also pre-recordered several months ago, but they feel a lot more timeless and could be listened to at any time. Not really the case with those in my opinion.

Lets not kid ourselves the actual watches we would wear to play rigorous sports such as tennis, football, basketball, etc is going to be some sort of Gshock or other resin watch.

I would posit that a sports watch needs to be, or at least look, rugged and ready for doing stuff. The Vacheron looks ready for dinner at the Ritz while the Chopard looks ready for dinner with your Granddad, which sadly only leaves the Rolex which does, undeniably look very rugged. Twinned with the titanium construction, it's the only one of those three which looks the part and the presence of the word "Yacht" on the dial does at least tie it to a sport, however loosely it actually relates to it in use. That said, had George rocked the GTS (of which I know he's just done a very limited edition run), or the Alpine Eagle, then Chopard would definitely have had the win.

George had his own Chopard in the works so knew what he was picking. (his Bamford custom is much better than the one they showed here.) The VC is far to delicate for sports watches. I'd say the Hermes and Alpine Eagle were the best watches shown in this category.

George took this - imo. The racing heritage behind that watch is insanely deep. And the inspiration from tyre tread marks - damn thats good. Paying 10 large + on a sports watch? I'm surprised none, especially George didn't grab a Tag Aquaracer or one of the connected series. Relatively tough but cheap in this context. Sports watch is a banger watch, not a suit watch! Isn't the YM a detuned submariner? No depth rating, double direction bezel etc? I'd love to see a proper sub in moonmetal! (Ti) I loved the Chopard tho. The tyre tread strap....cmon!!

George all the way on this one. A yacht..ers?... ists?... sailor's watch should have a regatta dial. VC is a dress watch disguised as a sports watch (and a very pretty one too). The obvious sports watch is an RM27, but I imagine that would be tricky to get hands-on with. Also someone needs to have an intervention with Andrew on his Rolex problem :P

I'll take all three. Great choices by everyone. I've never really looked at a Chopard before but I definitely like GB's choice. One day I would love to own a Yacht Master, but I'm not sure if I would want a titanium one. The Overseas is stunning but a moon phase on a 'sports watch' is a bit of a stretch IMO. To go with one sports watch I would have to go with Mr. Boring.

Great episode guys! George - very cool watch with a chronograph but with only 50m WR, I’d think twice about going near a lake, ocean, or even a swimming pool. Cool strap. Andrew - a beautiful watch but VC themselves describe this as a “sporty-elegant steel watch” so, sorry mate - no go. Unless your timing a race around the world for 80 days a calendar isn’t really that relevant to most sports situations. Again 50m WR? Adrian - with 100m WR, and a light strong titanium case it’s hard to argue. No chronograph, the YM bezel allows timing in minutes up to an hour. Of the three the Adrian’s YM wins for me!

I think from a practicality perspective Adrian’s titanium Rolex edges this competition. George’s Chopard was a great choice. Love your videos and discussions and stories chaps👍👍

If I had to choose one of the 3, it would have to be the one George chose, Chopard. Just because I cannot associate sports with the Overseas, for me it is more of a dress watch than a sports one. As for the Adrian choice, well, the Yacht Master only has titanium as an advantage. On the other hand that Alpine, it ticks all the boxes for me... 🤤 Great episode, well done.

As much as I don’t want it to win… The Rolex is the best sports watch out of the 3. Another win for the Evil Empire. The Chopard is the coolest of the 3, but 50m water resistance is scary on a true, everyday sports watch. All sports, not just racing for this challenge. The design looks like a magnet for damage for hand sports. The VC is a dress watch with a rubber strap and complicated to read at a glance. If I’m sporting it up I need clear quick reference. It’s is last place. The Rolex is tough, 100m water resistance (which I think is the minimum for a sports watch) and it has a timing bezel for quick timing of events/games/sports. It’s light; over priced and probably unobtainable… lol

If by "sport/sporting" we're describing a watch that can withstand the rigors of vigorous physical activity, I would either (a) eschew *any* of my mech watches (and maybe even my quartz-analog numbers) and grab my Casio ProTrek PRG 300-series and call it an afternoon, or (b) grab my fairly-new Seiko 5 Sports GMT, which has a reasonably-rugged automatic movement, good-enough (100m) water-resistance, seriously-good legibility in any light, and can give me the time in three zones at once. AND it probably looks good on the biggest yacht...but Ill have to e-mail Mr. Spielberg for confirmation on the last bit. Otherwise: It's George's Mille Miglia for me. (Just to clarify: that race goes *much* farther back than 35 years, which I imagine at least one of y'all know...but I envy George's involvement with it!) Wonderful video again, guys!

When Adrian cut off Andrew, that was hilarious, but if you think anyone but Adrian was the winner, then you're sniffing glue. The Rolex was the only winner out of the three. Now, does that mean that any of you have made good, in any way practical choices? Fuck no! Adrian was closest and his cost around 12,000! Andrew, I would take the 48,000, buy the Rolex, and take a chunk out of my mortgage. If I owned that VC, it would never come anywhere NEAR any kind of sporting activity. Have to say, George's choice was a good one for the strap alone....but no. Adrian has won, and even his choice is bananas. Did you all leave your ritalin in your hotel rooms for this episode? Excellent fun episode! The Zenith and the Oris are both fantastic pieces that pilots would actually use. Love the monochrome theme of the Zenith , the size seems near perfect for up to 7 1/4” wrists. That Oris though..😍 Both the Zenith and the Oris are the kippers knickers of tool watches and in spite of their near perfect aesthetic there is nothing at all absurd about the pricing. Very intrigued by the Oris wear durability. It’s hard to fathom such lightweight material being matched by ruggedness often a prerequisite of any tool watch. Being so lightweight it seems it could be almost forgotten it’s on the wrist, which could lead to accidental damage…maybe? ✌️

A sports watch for me could be a blue dial integrated bracelet, or Tag Heuer's Aquaracers/Formula1 or something like a Tudor Pelagos because of it being durable to withstand a day of swimming, golfing and racing and branded for an younger audience than Rolex. A Rolex just doesn't feel like something you would wear doing sports, even though it ticks the specification-boxes.
