Rotate those clamps, so that the quick release handles point OUT instead of UP then capture tray straps under quick releases: - no bolts true frame holes - loosening quick releases enable sliding clamps

That might work but it's not how it's shown on the GTO documentation or website (take a look), it adjusts between those two holes by loosening the QR and then pulling outwards slightly.

I like the caster tray. The biggest problem with stands is the chair or stand moving. Using the stand to keep the chair from moving back and the weight of driver in chair to help steady the stand is brilliant.

hahahah yep that's why I didn't order that chair tray when they made one for GT omega Apex wheel stand. What I actually did is I tie around the bottom 2 feet of the wheel stand and around 2 of the wheels of the chair. So that way when I'm braking it's not lifting up, but again I'm not braking with a heavy load cell it's just measly G29 pedals (albeit I increased dead zone to about 51%, just where the pedal touches that rubber inside the pedal and that's where my starting zone is for braking and then I mash as hard as I can for 100%, kind of "imitating" load cell and pressure braking, much better then for what it is as default). But in any case I don't think any wheel stand no matter how robust is ready and capable for a DD. Even G29 is able to swing it to the side miniscule when I need to flick that wheel so fast and then flick back (where it starts to fight as I start searching for grip), let alone a DD running 5 or 8 nm. Wheel stand needs to be weighted down by converting it into cock pit with their upgrade kit to utilize those powerful wheels and pedals. I just hope APEX will be able to stand logitech G pro wheels.

I´m using the GT Omega Apex since a few months with the DD Pro 8nm and the CSL pedals with LC. I does it´s job really well. The biggest issue of this new wheel stand for me is it is not foldable anymore. I´s m sharing the place for the wheel stand and the monitor with my wife´s place for her home office, so the option to fold the wheel stand is very usable for me.

If I were to buy a wheel tray for my Apex stand, Id probably get the same tray attached to the DDX in your review. I wouldn't be able to use the bolts that go through the arm, but the quick release clamp would keep the tray in place on my stand. So, maybe its a universal part? Also, I don't have the rear end of the Apex stand but, I use a ratchetting cargo strap to tether the chair to the stand. I am running the Fanatec CSL Elite v1 pedals, and I have my pedal force set to 70. Even at full braking it takes a lot to get the stand and chair to tilt away from eachother. I kept the strap as low as possible and have the hook ends on the chair's casters. Its a pretty solid setup. Not the most comfortable, but I can press the pedals as hard as I want, with no concerns about the chair tipping over.

I use the NLR wheel stand and I really have zero complaints. I only use an 8nm wheel on it, but I've never pressed my chair out of the chair trough, and its more shallow then the GTO. You look rather tall, those pedals look a tad close which gives you so much more leverage to push out if you push too hard on the brakes. Also the pulling doesn't really make much sense as in real sweaty moments I'm sure more people are pushing on their wheels trying not to crash and burn then pull and steer. The NLR stand is made of steel and is really heavy. Maybe that's why it doesn't move like that? For people that don't have a lot of room and want to spend some money wheel stands are great, just make sure you get a quality one like this one or the Next Level Racing. Both will be great and will be loads better then a desk.
@KarlGosling
@KarlGosling Ай бұрын
I'm 6ft mate and thats as low as my seat goes... another trade off with a wheel stand is driving position adjustment. The heavier the stand the better as mentioned, I had the NLR DD stand also and it is indeed great, just expensive compared to this and you gain little IMO.

Thanks for the video. I was thinking the same when assembled my next level 2.0 BUT the issue i have is after first 2 months i always have to tight more screws because of the vibrations. i have r12. i use pedals with 25bars on break and nothing moves BUT the base part is the most problematic for me.

Hey Karl! I love your channel, got a G920 second hand and a new GT Lite a few years ago because of you. And it's time to upgrade! I was wondering if you had any recommendations for loadcell pedals around €200-300, I've been staring at the Simsonn PRO or the Moza SRP for a while now.
@KarlGosling
@KarlGosling Ай бұрын
Simsonn are AliExpress specials so I'd stay well clear, Moza sees to be pretty decent these days but were very poor at launch... Normally I'd recommend Fanatec at that price point but they are a bit up in the air right now.

@@KarlGosling Thanks for your reply :) The reviews on youtube and people on reddit make it seem Simsonn pedals are very promising. And I have personally have only had good experiences with AliExpress (gameboy mods) so the fact that that's where they're from isn't really an issue for me. The moza are interesting but seem a bit soft on the brake even with the extra kit. I was looking at Fanatec but yeah you're right, quite high in prices.

New subscriber, thanks for the video. Question: I just watched your older videos on the Nextlevel 2.0 and DD and recall you having a real problem with the shifter hitting your chair on the 2.0. Did you ever test that with the GT Omega? Could use some advice too: I JUST got into sim racing and bought a used Logitech G29 for PS5 for $100 US. Works fine, but I know for sure I will want a DD in a few months, no immediate rush. I have to have a stand due to space limitations. And I want it to be able handle an entry level DD at a minimum, which is why I came to your videos. Thanks to your videos, I'm down to the NextLevel DD or the GT Omega DDX. Price clearly better on the Omega, but they appear to be on pre-order only at this point. your thought would be appreciated. Tr

@@KarlGosling Cool, thanks Karl! FYI: You mentioned a problem if using a powerful DD with this or any wheel stand due to not having as much weight on it.

 Well, I think I have a solution, which is what I am doing now with my folding tv-tray setup. My G29 was bouncing all over the place due to no weight holding it down. My solution was to put some weight on top. At first, I just used some coffee table books and it worked - no wobble or bounce.

To improve on that, I bought some five-pound free weights off Amazon. I put five on top to keep my DIY wheel stand steady.

 For the peddles, I put the whole rig on an old large bath mat. I folded the end where the peddles are over and tucked the nose into the pocket I created. I thnk put 7.5 pounds of weight to either side and one five pound weight on the front, just in front of the brake peddle. I secured that with some blue painters tape so that it can be easily undone.

 Overall, it works well, but doesn’t exactly look great. Also, I doubt it will work if/when I upgrade, which is why I am looking at the wheel stands.

That being said, I will probably use my weight method with the wheel stand for added stability. What do you think?

Loved this review. Saw the stand on Jardier's channel and his positivity made me think it might be good as a replacement for my Playseat Challenge. However after watching this I realized it would be a downgrade rather than an upgrade so I'm sticking with my original plan of going for a Playseat Trophy. And yes a full fledged rig is an option but that's quite a bit more expensive (with seat) and I'm not ready yet to make that investment.
