Hey guys! Just posted a new video comparing this Turntable against the Audiotechnica AT LP60X since many of you asked for it! Check it out at the link in the description!

Good day! Acquired Sony PS-LX310BT. Before this, there was no experience of listening to vinyl. I saw your review on youtube and bought it. Faced a problem (I think). I will try to explain in my own words: when listening to records (I tried both new and used ones), it seems to modulate music to the head or tonearm .. that is, if you unscrew the speakers to a minimum, then there will be a high-frequency sound from the tonearm itself (or needle). Very nasty ts ts ts repeating music. Accordingly, listening to music at a low volume is not pleasant, this sound, although quiet, specifically interferes with listening. The sound is heard both with the lid open and with the lid closed (with the lid closed, respectively, less). As the volume increases, this parasitic sound is drowned out by the sound from the speakers and becomes better. Can something be done about this? this is a specific defect that cuts the ear, well, for my hearing .. sorry for the grammatical errors, I'm from Russia

Gotta ask - what would be a step up vinyl player to the LX310BT ? In my country its being sold for 300 euros - which is way more expensive than the price you've mentioned and at that price I feel its possible to acquire a better vinyl player. Any suggestions? Cheers for your channel - keep it up :)

I'm an old guy who has been collecting vinyl since I was a child in the late 1960s. Recently, my Sony turntable from the mid 1980s refused to power up just one last time. It took me awhile to find a replacement that I could live with. That happened to be the Sony PS lx 310 BT. Surprisingly, it sounds better than most turntables costing twice as much. And it sounds as good as many of the vintage audiophile turntables from the 70s and eighties. It is not a "starter" unit, because there is absolutely no reason to upgrade.

Thank you sir for the info. I had planned to get it the last year. Eventually I decided to own it as I love my favourite singer's oldie songs from the 60s and 70s so much. I can't wait to hear it as soon as it gets to me. And this is also my first ever turntable in my life. My favourite artist: Sinn Sisamouth

Just for anyone who may be watching this and wondering about implementing this into their setup; if your amplifier has a built-in phono stage like the Cambridge Audio AXR85 you don't need to purchase a pre-amp to use phono on this turntable, just connect it directly to your amp and off you go.

Great review. I have been listening to vinyl for 50 years! I have kept all of my vinyl since buying them in my youth (I am so glad I did). I have been looking at another way to listen to my vinyl in my office and didn't want to buy a whole sound system for that purpose. Your comments re "modern features" make this an ideal purchase to solve my issue. I also appreciate the fact that you have spelt out the main attractiveness (and expense :-( ) of the vinyl experience. This turntable is on sale locally in Australia so based on your positive review I think I will be heading out of lockdown to buy this "essential household item".

You described my situation exactly. I wanted to dip my toe in the water of vinyl again but I didn’t want to get one of the cheap suitcase Crowley ones you can buy at Kohls or whatever because they sound terrible and a friend told me the high tracking force on the cheap turntables can damage records. Like you I am not an audiophile but I can tell the difference between bad sound and good and it matter to me. The cheap ones also usually advertise Bluetooth capability but they just mean you can pair your device to them and listen to your device through their junky speakers. In any case, I love this Sony model. I was thinking that it might be people’s imagination that vinyl sounds better but it is noticeably better to me and I don’t have really great hearing or anything. I have it hooked into one of Sony’s less expensive amps and some edifier bookshelf speakers. Fantastic video and production. I am now subscribed!

I started collecting records in earnest shortly before the pandemic hit. But I really don’t like it when someone says that a turntable makes a good “” starting turntable. For me, this is my forever turntable. I actually had a manual turntable, but being blind, I didn’t care for having all that other stuff to mess with like the counterweight, anti-skate weight, etc. Besides, I was worried that manually queue my records was damaging them, so I decided to go for an automatic. And I agree with most of your assessment, except for what you said about the highs and lows getting a little muddy. While I’ve experienced that, that goes away when I clean both the record as well as the stylus. Plus, if they’re getting a little muddy, it sounds like you’re using too much gain. You didn’t really tell us how you think it sounds after you adjusted the gain setting. Anyways, I didn’t need an AV receiver for this turntable. Instead, what I did, was run the RCA cables to an auxiliary to RCA converter, which I then hooked up to my Vizio SB 3851D0 sound bar. I really felt no need to hook it up to a preamp or receiver. It’s more equipment than I care to deal with. But to label it as a “starter turntable I think is wrong. Some people just want to listen to their records without having to monkey around with a various factors like counterweight, etc. I like having the counterweight, anti-skate, Asimuth, already pre-calibrated at the factory.

I recently bought the Audio-Technica AT-LP60X-BK and I think it's great. I ordered a longer RCA cable at the same time because I knew the included one wouldn't be long enough for my setup. Everything arrived at the same time and the set up was very easy. This turntable sounds great.

I thought the RCA cables were fixed and not replaceable (at least not without opening the case and doing some soldering, neither of which I want to do). If the AT has a removeable cable that could sway me!

Yeah. My 16 year old got into vinyl last year and wanted a turntable for Christmas/birthday. We selected this one, because he can listed via Bluetooth, or build it into a separates system if he stays into in. My daughter (20) was also into vinyl, but used my Mitchel Syncro. Now she is living away from home she was looking at Croxley suitcase style turntables, but decided to buy one of these. (Phew) Just for info though, the USB interface is not a feature in all territories. Here in the UK (and the EU?) for example, we don’t get it. Which is a pity, but not a dealbreaker.

Good review. I own this turntable an I love it. I started out using Bluetooth with a Sony SoundBar. I wasn’t all that pleased with the sound . It was ok but after doing some research you get the best sound quality when it’s hooked up to a receiver with Powered or Wired speakers. I bought a Sony receiver an Sony bookshelf wired speakers. The sound quality was superb compared to Bluetooth. Do yourself a favor an do what I did. Yea I spent more money but it was 100% worth it. Listening to vinyl record has two different satisfactions: First when you listen to old records, you can feel the warm sound with pops & clicks. Secondly when you listen to new properly pressed records, you can listen to pure crystal clear sound which can't be produced by digital media. BTW, does this turntable (record player) has antiskid and tracking force adjustments, and can the cartridge be changed with a better Audio-technica or Ortofon cart?

late to the party but just picked this turntabe up, having not owned turntables since the 90s when i had a pair of technics 1210s and a rane mixer( was using for mixing and scratching more than just enjoying listening to music) i decided i wanted something that was cheap, but sounded good, after looking around i decided on this sony. What can i say...im well chuffed with it, sound quality is awesome for a turntable at this price and i love the auto start/stop as im more lazy in my old age lol ive paired the turntable with a pair of jvc BT bookshelf speakers although i havent tried the BT and instead have them wired, the speakers were only £99 from currys and for cheap speakers they also do an awesome job. Overall i would defo recommend this turntable, not just for a beginner...but for anyone who wants a decent turntable that produces decent sound for a relatively cheap price.

Great video! Thank you. I have owned this for a year and a half now. So enjoying it. For the price with all its features, I found this TT sounded only slightly less than some of the higher priced TT's, that offered less features. Currently using BT, but planning to re-connect wired to AVR. Location is a problem. Still sounds great though. I mostly listen to really old LP's inherited from grandparents and older brother. My purchased record collection are mostly stuff from the 1980's thru 90's, which i can stream. This hobby can become expensive. Cleaning stuff, etc. My question is where and how can you replace the stylus? I've heard its not replaceable. Thanks again!
@Buttepossu3 жыл бұрын
It's pretty easy to replace but I'd suggest to watch how to video first as there's quite a few different methods on different cartridges. The one used here is AT3600L and you can get stylus for it pretty much anywhere, for example Audio Technica's official Amazon storefront. Default stylus type for AT3600L is conical and approximated lifespan for it is around 500 hours. BTW, the best "cleaning" type of product I've used is the one that prevents dust from accumulating to begin with: Milty Zerostat. Apply couple presses on each side and blow dust off before listening, that's pretty much it. Might seem like some audiophile snake oil at first glance but it actually works.

I know that this isn't an actual video. I was looking for some opinions and ratings of an older vintage turntable, that I own since I was a teen in the 80s, the Sony PS-LX 310. This is a completely different device. It has an alumin(i)um case (the plate on the bottom excluded) and the motor is a quartz locked direct drive. The cartrige is a T4P-system. This advantage (no adjustment needed) became a disadvantage. It was supposed to be the system of the future, but failed to storm the market. I was lucky to find an Ortofon OMT10 which can be equipped with every stylus that fits to the OM systems. So my old turntable has nothing to do with this one.

Billion dollar global insight for movie, anime, real life or thesis - Love the Sony Stereo Turntable System model PS-LX310BT with the auto move, auto start, auto stop, auto move back tone arm. Problem 1. The power button is at the back of the turntable which makes it a hassle to find the power button or stretch the arm and finger to power off the system (like finding the clitoris in the dark). Why not make future turntable power button at the front? Naturally, you can keep the turntable powered on all the time, but some customers like to save power and electricity bills by power off the system or reduce risks of being electrocuted. Make future versions where the turntable power can auto sleep and turn off after X time (e.g. via app) - kaizen eliminate step to auto power off? There is the consideration of need to go through the power on step. Kaizen 2 - implement smart turntable with inbuilt multi-points mechanical weight sensors under the platter. When the vinyl (weight) is placed on top of the mat/platter, the turntable auto powers on. This saves time and energy, reduce hassle after long day of stressful activities (e.g. mistress ask for increase for her allowance).

Great video. I'm torn between this and the Fluance rt81. The latter only costs £20 more. Can anybody advise if the Fluance is a step up for little more money?

Hi! How are u? I would like to plug speakers directly through the included Rca, can you recommend me a few speakers? I would love that 😊 thank you so much, i love your videos!

Thanks for the nice comment! Yes, I actually have quite a few speaker recommendations, the last few videos on my channel have my favorites. They’re also in the description of this video. All of the ones I recommend will be able to plug directly into the RCA of the turntable. Go take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello to you just saw your video it is pretty good and explained very well the only thing I have to suggest is when you said as you go to higher end turntables they are more manual that is not correct there are a lot of so called manuals TT's thats what the audiophiles want you to only know there are very high end automatics out there like the Thorens brand and you have the CS series by Dual which some are also automatic and if you go back to the high end manuals and com pare them from the TT's of the later 70's to early 80's most were auto and there specs are way better than todays high end manual my opinion is that the mid to high end manuals are the same I bought a Pro-Ject Debut 3 before they came out with the carbon fiber tone arm I believe thats what they call it my TT has special bearings very tight tolerance well made and they ran around from 300 hundred not exactly sure but the specs on this TT is signal to noise ratio is at I believe 65 and wow and flutter is at .125 now my old Onkkyo integera was computer controlled direct drive a motor which drove the tone arm also quartz controlled the sig to noise ratio was at 75 and wow and flutter at .012 so dont think if you pay more for TT your getting the best in my opinion they forgot on how to make a good TT the less they put into it the more they charge for a manual I been around a while seen the changes in TT;s today not happy with them in my day they took pride in making a TT to play and get the most out of your music ,now all you have is manuals and I cant' enjoy manuals cause if I dose off the stylus will stay on record wearing away ,I got a Q-up for this TT which is a help and I use it once in a while but I got some older version TT's automatic and those specs are still better than the newer ones sorry for long rant just thought you should know this there other brands with great specs but are very expensive but for the average person they sre not out there as far as I see JRo

Hi,can I please ask you if you can listen to the music thru speakers without bluetooth or is that not an option?
