Good advice on the cards. Some folks want to use their older SD cards but for the Z8 It makes sense to go CF Express Type B. I will say though that I forgot to put my CF Express card in the camera and my SD (256 GB, 250Mbs) card worked fine for 20fps shooting and 4K video. I want to get my hands on that Nextorage 660GB card. I do have an Angelbird 1TB card which works very well for 8.3K RAW recording. Sometimes I leave out the SD card if I want to lean on the shutter for fast and long burst shooting.

indeed! The SD card will work in a pinch. Especially if you are doing the 20fps. If you need to crank it higher though the SD card won't be able to handle it. I don't do video, but for you there is definitely going to be a need for a 660GB!! So far the Nextorage card has been a dream.

@@pawlfredericophotography I hear good things about the card, May get one in the future but for now, my 1 TB card has proved to be fine to recording video at the highest level the Z8 is capable of. I posted a video of the 8K footage and it looks great.probably won’t be doing much of that though. At this point I can hold on until storage prices comes down.

ProGrade 1TB Gold Series $350. I made a faster card for $140. SABRENT Rocket 2230 NVMe 4.0 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2230 SSD $99. Sintech CFexpress Type B nVME Card with Aluminium Case $36. I have 2 for the price of 1 and it works perfectly.

Great video and very important. if understood correctly, need to buy a good card and do not use the second slot (SD Card) ? The ProGrade 512GB CFexpress 2.0 Goldis enough good right ? thanks
@pawlfredericophotography Жыл бұрын
Hey David. Correct. If you are using the SD slot it would only be for overflow and not backup. I choose not to use it at all because I carry plenty of CF cards. The Prograde Gold is good enough depending on what you are shooting and what camera you are shooting with. If it is the Z8 or Z9 and you do sports or wildlife you would want to bump up to the Cobalt. If you are doing landscape or portrait the gold should be just fine because you don’t need the excess speed. If you are shooting with the Z6/ii or Z7/ii or Z5, etc., the gold will also be good enough. They are solid cards and prices are coming down. Hope that helps!

The Cobalt is better than the Gold ? do you have a link or full name of the memory card please ?
@pawlfredericophotography Жыл бұрын
Hey David. Yes, the Prograde Cobalt is faster than the Prograde Gold. The only time that would make a difference though is if you were shooting the Z8 or Z9 and shooting wildlife or sports. Otherwise, you won’t likely need that burst speed, and the Gold is less expensive. Check out the Nextorage Pro cards too. I have been loving them.

Unless you are referring to the Gold 4.0, which is brand new and definitely faster. Unfortunately, the companies are confusing people when they name them. Me included because they have a Gold 2.0, which is what it was at the time of this video. Not sure why they didn’t name the new 4.0 something besides Gold.
