How come this reviews don’t mention the image quality of the streaming services? I just found out DirectvNOW doesn’t even have FullHD, aka 1080P, and I found out through their customer service directly. Now I wonder, do any of these services have it? And let alone talking about 4K

Im so confused, do you have to pay for normal TV in America? In Australia, if you have a 4K TV and it's plugged into a proper antenna, all you have to do is turn it on, tune it and then you get all the channels available. We have premium TV services like Foxtel that you can pay for but you can still get normal TV without it.

Yeah the review sucked, LOL. I had PS Vue for a month and will be going back in November when my DirecTV satellite contract ends. I was gonna pay the penalty to cancel early, $160 but they ended up giving us a deal for like $38 for the remaining 8 months. But come November, it's back to PS Vue!
@paulk4686 жыл бұрын
Roger, you nailed it, how do you not mention the Vue DVR or the 5 streams? This review stunk and makes me believe there was a kickback. I have tried Sling and had PS Vue since cutting cord a year ago and watched to see if I was missing anything totally wasted my time

Update, with the new Direct TV Now update I may stay with them. They do not Geolock their service. I was able to share my account with my mother saving her much needed money. The DVR is limited to 24 hrs but it’s good enough for 35$ a month. Paid the 200$ early cancel fee on Direct tv.. going to PS Vue.. as soon as my Apple TV 4K promotion is over. I love PS Vue
@enigmaz136 жыл бұрын
I agree. PSVue has a great DVR,,, and the packages for what you get isn't that bad either. I do wish they would offer the Starz package. Slings DVR is crap. The Directv Now they are saying you will get 20 hours free and then if you want to get 100 hours it will cost,, so what will that cost be and I have to say 100 hours isn't that much. The DVR that Vue offers is why I'm where I'm at which is at Vue. If Directv Now does a DVR the same way that VUE does and comparing prices,, NOW might not be too bad of an option because the prices are on par with VUE and NOW does offer more stations, but the APP is limited on some devices. IE: Sheild TV, there is no app

It is kind of strange, I have this advertisement for directv and dish, directv was $20 a month for 30 channels, and dish wanted $30 for 45 channels. As time goes by it seems less channels, higher price, more restrictions. Meanwhile you can purchase IPTV from other countries that offer channel line ups in the 1000's. Once again 'Merika FUK YEAH!

Another problem is that these streaming services do not offer ALL the local channels. If you use an antenna then you cannot record shows on your local networks.
@kenyattaclay76666 жыл бұрын
Sorry but Sling TV is NOT cheap, especially if you like sports. Right now I pay $55 a month on PS Vue and get all ESPN channels, Fox sports channels, MLB, NFL, and NBA networks, all four major networks plus the hand full of entertainment networks that I watch. With Sling if I wanted all the same channels I get on PS Vue (btw Sling doesn't have the MLB network) plus a DVR I'd have to pay $80 a month and that doesn't include having to pay for CBS all access because an antenna doesn't work where I live. Not to mention the fact that Sling's DVR is only 50 hours compared to PS Vue is unlimited. All together for internet and PS Vue I pay $110 versus the $185 I was paying for cable. The ONLY reason to get Sling is if you just have to have Viacom or A&E networks which includes History but to me those channels have become complete garbage showing nothing but reality shows so I don't miss them at all.
@Blu-Man6 жыл бұрын
Kenyatta Clay gonna disagree with you on this one my neighbor has the $40 deal she gets everything her bill is a little over $40 so ima probably switch from cable.. Sling is good in my area many residents got it. Im tired of the constant high cable bills but The Amazon 🔥 sticks is 🔥 here
@kenyattaclay76666 жыл бұрын
You can get whatever you want but sorry I just don't see the value with Sling, especially if you are a sports fan. If you don't care about sports or news Philo is the best deal at $16 or $20 but if you want sports then PS Vue is the best option. Yes Sling starts at a low cost but by the time you add on the DVR (which is only 50 hours), the sports package, movie package, News package and the local fee your at $65. Then because Sling doesn't have CBS or NBC that's another $5 for CBS All Access so now your at $70. Let's not forget if you want HBO that's extra. With PS Vue I get all ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and all four major sports networks. I also get CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox. Also, I get all the same movie channels such as Flex and Sony plus because I'm with AT&T I still get HBO for free and I only pay $55 a month. Oh, I forgot, PS Vue's DVR is already included and it's unlimited. I recently looked again at Sling and saw they came down $5 on the sports package but they still don't have MLB Network. One last thing, PS Vue allows 5 streams at once and now you can watch away from your home network. Sorry but PS Vue is still the better deal and the only service I might switch to is Direc TV Now once the get a DVR.
@Blu-Man6 жыл бұрын
Kenyatta Clay nope you not. Correct my neighbor and the man beside me got the $40 deal they get all the. Channels the pay a little over $40 sling and 🔥 sticks is excellent in my area maybe in your are sling. Is not good.... But here is good.. So cant agree with your words on this situation.. Now as far as cable in my area its always high. Im done with cable today will be turning in. All equipment Saturday. Ill probably just do air channels with a good antenna here we 3 miles from the cable 🗼 so ill get 60 channels free. Ill keep the internet to have for 🔥 sticks
@kenyattaclay76666 жыл бұрын
Okay so lets do the math. I just went on Sling's website and to get everything I get now for $55 I would have to chose the $40 package then add $10 for the sports package add $5 for the news package add $5 for the lifestyle package add $5 for the Hollywood package add $5 for broadcast fee and $5 for a LIMITED DVR. I then would have to add $6 for CBS all access because I can't use an indoor antenna. When you add all of that up that's $81. With PS Vue I get an UNLIMITED DVR, all the networks (CBS, FOX, NBC and ABC) live. I get all four sport league networks (NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA) which Sling doesn't have MLB at all. I really don't care about the Viacom channels and as I said that's the ONLY reason to chose Sling but the last time I checked $55 is less than $81. If all you need is the Orange and Blue then good for you but with the exception of Philo all of these OTT services are making a big push for sports fans and if you are one then Sling is NOT a good choice because by the time you add everything up you are still at $55 and at least with PS Vue you get more for that $55.
@Blu-Man6 жыл бұрын
Kenyatta Clay sling tv here in my area cheaper.. So its good here guess your area taxes higher ice seen my neighbors sling bill they don't pay no extra $10 for sports package.. The cable here is the issue here and 📡 im done with it here. Free channels is good enough for me but ill keep the internet

I would be sold on Sling TV IF they figured out a way to stream Pacific Time Zone (PST) programming for the tens of millions of us who live in the PST zone. As it stands right now, Sling TV only offers Eastern Time Zone streams for their channels - which means I miss most of my favorite prime time shows (because they stream 3-hours earlier for PST subscribers). WHY can they not figure out how to offer/stream PST channels?
@rborroto6 жыл бұрын
I've had Sling (Blue) for more than a year and I love it… tons of channels, $19.99/mo (EXCLUSIVE PRICE FOR BETA MULTI-STREAM SUBSCRIBERS). I added the news package for $5/mo. and the cloud DVR for $5/mo. I like their interface (Roku) and their reliability. But most important for me was their price and my ability to control how much I'm willing to spend per month beyond the base $20 bucks.

DTVN on Roku is a terrible experience. While it steams mostly fine, there is the occasional buffering issue. What breaks it for us is the fact that the DVR is incredibly buggy and doesn't work half the time. Sometimes the recorded shows wont come up and when they do come up, sometimes it will not play it. Even occasionally happens on the fire tv. If they release a feature, it should work.
Does it not depend on what a person likes to watch : sports, premium channels, local networks and so on. Seems to me that it`s different for everyone.

I have tried both Sling and DirectTVNow. In my personal experience, while Sling is "cheap" as Kyle says, if you compare at the level of Channel/Price ratio, DirectTVNow is cheaper. The UI of Sling is much better and the selection of "A-la-carte" is better. However, DirectTVNow gave me something I really loved... HBO for $5.00!... in addition DirecTVNow is recognized by a lot of apps as a REAL TV provider, meaning that you have access to OnDemand services that HBOGO, FOX, AMC, NBC and a lot of channels offer only to Cable or Satellite subscribers. Sling doesn't offer this. Another thing, if you have ATT unlimited, you get an extra discount on DirecTVNow.

You missed the most important aspect of choosing a service. What TV will run the app. For example. Direct TV Now does not run (no app) for Android TV's Sling/Playstation Vue/FUBO will not run (no app) on Samsung TV's. Number one selling TV in America. You can get an get a external device to perhaps make one work but that defeats the purpose of having a 'smart' TV.

Like many others have said. PS Vue isn’t perfect but it has the best DVR. It’s FREE for one and recordings stay for 28 days. And it starts at 40 not 45. The highest basic package is 75 (which includes both HBO and Showtime). And the IP address restriction has changed. Also it has 5 streams. So if you have a family that’s a big plus. Directv now only has 2 and sling orange only has 1! I think your review is more “single person” focused rather than family focused. The instant you have more than one person watching that 25 sling rate is worthless and you have to go at least to blue for more people to watch. I’d also say Vue is probably the best for English sports. Their 45 Core package gets you all the ESPNs (Including ESPNU and EspnNews) Fox Sports channels to play local teams NFL network. Etc. for the equivalent for DirectV now you have to go to the 60 package (though you can get the ones most people care about for all the 50 DTV now package). All that said right now I’m testing directv now since I couldn’t resist the Apple TV 4K for a 3 month subscription. Its working well enough right now. But I remember my PS Vue trial being a little snappier. Also as of yet no dvr (I know it’s in beta, but rumor it will only be free for like 20 hours and you’ll have to pay for more to store more.). I like HBO and I’d have to pay more with Vue but by the time I get to a directv now package that has the sport I want the price for Vue with HBO is either only 5 more or 5 less. But worst case for 5 a month More I get 5 streams for my wife and 2 kids to use and a DVR. Plus we can all have separate profiles.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the deal-breaker with the existing streaming TV services can be summed up in one word- COMMERCIALS! I despise them. They're an assault on intelligence, especially when only one ad is played over and over. When I'm paying $40 per month on top of the $70 I already spend on internet, having to watch a plethora of commercials every time I want to watch a program is maddening. The fake "DVR" offered by streaming services is a lie. On most anything you've "recorded" that's worth watching, you MUST watch the commercials. If you FF over them, they stack them and make you watch them all at once in a series before your video continues! On a REAL DVR, you can FF over anything and resume watching instantly at the point you stop, without the PENALTY of having to watch a bunch of ads first. I hate to admit it, but cable seems the way to go. Nobody hates the giant bill worse than me, but I guess you get what you pay for.

KZbin tv beats all of them....easily. If you were to try to get the same channels and dvr storage on sling tv that you have on youtube tv, sling would cost you around $60. For what you get, relative to the other services, its the most cost affective. Hulu was a pain in the butt..lol, sometimes the dvr worked and sometimes it didnt, and their grid (or lack thereof) was weird. Not exactly easy to channel surf...all the while you pay around $60 to get a package that covers what you get on Y TV for ($40). P vue is 2nd, but too expensive.

KZbin TV is missing too many channels to give it a recommendation. IMO.

Aaron Brown..makes sense. I think it depends on what your interests are. Fubo.tv from what I read is made for sports. It's only in the past few months they have been heavily adding on other types of channels and have been adding profiled executives to help run their business. I've read some mixed feeling about picture quality so I can't give a judgement on that. We may do PlayStation Vue, it's slightly more but I feel like they offer many great channels and options.
@alabdel13886 жыл бұрын
Aaron Brown Fubo's actually pretty good, especially if you're a soccer fan. Only issue with it compared to Y TV is its a bit more expensive and doesnt have the minimal non-sports channels I would watch. You all REALLY need to do better research before publishing your videos. In regards to PS Vue their entry package is $39.99 not $45. Also, you do NOT have to be on your home network to watch your programs and they made that change about a month ago and you published this video yesterday so there isn't an excuse for that. I will also point out when you said one of the other services had the best DVR and you could only have the program for 7 days. PS Vue you have unlimited DVR that is already included and it last 28 days, to me that sounds better than 7. There are some things that I don't like about PS Vue but I think if you are going to do a comparison of services you have to do better.
@sirc6256 жыл бұрын
Still Beta testing the DIRECTV Now DVR. It's getting there. DIRECTV Now (DTVN) still has the best channel count next to PS Vue. Sling and PS Vue don't have Viacom channels (Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, etc.) which is a deal breaker in my house. However, DTVN needs to add more than 2 streams!

Wenefreda I see it now. You have to pick either the Orange or Blue package (or both), then add different channels in $5 add ons. So if VH1 is in the Blue package you can't get it if you only have the Orange package right?

people need to stop saying its 20$ a month. If you have a family, as many people do, you need 25$ package, you need dvr since on-demand is not robust. 30$, ok that 10$ cheaper than the competition, unless you want the good channels that you get in extra's package, you might was get the 10$ for 4 package deal. You could do with those channels people say, but that's what cable does. Cable has a skinny package, that lets you choose channels for 5$ each and multiple channels for a deal as well. Basically the realistic price is 40$; to be fair yeah for the young folks living alone its the best option, for everyone else the other services are better, if they had a good tv guide. That being said, I'm still getting it. Just in case I convince my family to do with less. Would be cool if you talk about the "TV everywhere" apps that come with it and how that works.
@ReviewsOrg6 жыл бұрын
Good call on the "TV everywhere," I'll look into doing a video on that sometime. As for Sling's pricing, you're sort of making my point in a roundabout way. The thing I like about Sling's pricing is that it provides *options* for the consumer. Tons of options. Will most people probably end up paying about as much for Sling as they would for other services? Yes, probably. And like I said in the video, you can end up paying some seriously high prices for Sling if you get add-on heavy. But the low-cost option is there, and it will work for enough people that it's not just a gimmick. The whole idea of cord cutting (originally) was supposed to be putting consumers back in the driver seat, and I think Sling does the best in that way.

Lesver... dude some sports leagues go though a whole season, then offseason, and then start playing again all in a 9 month period. Why the hell would you need your recordings for 9 months? Honestly, I'm really curious to know.

The best is BCE Premium TV. We are using it for a long time. Over 100 Premium Sports Channels ( Sky Sports, BT Sport, Bein Sports, Fox Sports, NBCSN, TSN, ESPN, ... ) only $15/month or $70/year. just search "BCE Premium TV" on Google you will find it easily.

Sling stinks, it freezes, buffers and gets glitchy. Directv now doesn’t have any issues and works great over cellular data. I had sling in 2016 and 2017 and it still has horrible glitches. These people must be paid by sling to promote them. Fake review! Propaganda!

wtf richard I have an even faster connection than that and all of those things happened to me too (with Sling TV)they haven’t improved their interface at all. It’ll literally crash or cut out 3 to 4 times a day that require a reboot, and the app is really glitchy and the menu is laggy. It’ll even pop up that it has no internet connection even though my TV is clearly connected and signal strength is strong.
@Chaffdog6 жыл бұрын
I have a slow 25mb AT&T service and it streams Sling just fine without any freezing or glitching, it’s definitely not a Sling issue, more like your provider, no matter what your download speed is.

Can you guys review Philo? I just discovered tonight and it has all the main (cable type) channels I like, just No Local or Sports and it's only $16 a month with a 30 day DVR. Thank you in advance, I may just try it out for 7 days free.

Honestly I have philo now its biggest downfall is the no local. We stuggle as our only internet is our hotspots on our phones and apparently ALOT of companies won't do local on a phone which sucks...we went to philo top tier which is 20$ for everything...on our phone it rarely(almost never buffers) switching ALOT and has a good selection of channels. You can't dvr though just save your shows and then view what shows have been shown on t.v. so you dont have to worry about dvr,just finding your saved shows and watching. I find this both bad and good because of if you forget about a show...well...there's no way to remember

I don't really think there can be a "best one".It's like saying Chocolate is better then vanilla, Android is better than Apple etc.In the end,it comes down to which one works best for you.KZbin TV works best for me in my area.I like many things about it,but the thing that made me switch was all of my locals stream live(Atlanta)This is the only thing that let me cut the cord and puts it above every other service.I tried them all.

Vue is $45 for their second package (1 above starting) and it offer's pretty much the same channels if not less than Sling's Orange+Blue $40. I am not seeing the hype around Vue. Really if you want to stop being a amateur get JesusBoxTv for $20 a month and have wayyy more channels then both. Again that is JesusBoxTv stop wasting your money
@Joeki11a6 жыл бұрын
you talk about this like Sling provides internet service for you, Streaming people are paying 2 Different things for TV.
@ReviewsOrg6 жыл бұрын
What we are assuming is that most consumers will already be paying for internet because they use it for other online services as well. If you don't want to pay for cable or satellite on top of that, Live TV Streaming options can be a cheaper, happy medium. Regardless, you still need to think of your internet bill as exactly that, a separate bill for internet.

I just tried sling tv and quit right away. It is a good value but I am one of those people that like to use the Roku channel apps and most of them are not compatible. I am not a big sports fan so I go with Philo you get 37 channels for $16 or 46 channels for $20 no sports. Amc, A&E, Animal Planet, HGTV all those types. The main backers are Discovery, Viacom, and AMC. All Roku apps work with Philo. Check them out you might be surprised. www.philo.com .

@ReviewsOrg6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, $20 a month can be super taxing for a lot of people. We say that within the context of what most people normally pay for TV services. $20/mo. is dirt cheap compared to $100/mo. for traditional cable or satellite TV. But when comparing it to Netflix or just free TV with an antenna, you're right, $20 can be steep.
