It is amazing. Watch the follow up beer tasting video I made for this for a few extra tips if you want to make it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKC9lah9p8SkgpI

I have been loving Porch Rocker by Sam Adams lately, I am going to try a lemon shandy as probably my 3rd brewed beer, I cannot wait I get my clawhammer system tomorrow ;D

Awesome! I'm going to be doing a review of the last few beers that I've done, give some honest opinions on things that I would probably do different. I liked the wheat beer yeast I used in the video, but I think a clean ale yeast would is overall better, like a safale US 05 or WLP 001. So if you brew the beer, try that instead! Other than that it is absolutely fantastic!

PS... I will have to try that porch rocker. I haven't tried it yet! Good suggestion.

I have a suggestion for a video. How about a in depth video on how to fill out the brewgr calculator for mash and sparge calculations? Have you tried this recipe with lemon zest and juice?
@CityscapeBrewing2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea! I will add that to the list for a future video for sure! I have done beers with lemon zest, but not juice. A lot of times when you add juice and keep it in a keg it will fall out in the bottom in the first couple of days when it gets cold. If you're bottling that's not as big of a deal because it will be in every bottle, kegging it all drops to the bottom and pulls out in the first few pints. You have to be careful about adding anything with sugar though when you bottle because it can overcarbonate and you'll have exploding bottles. Lemon zest is a better option there

I'd like to see a tasting follow up. I tend to stress over secondary/keg addition amounts... too much or not enough. Shadys are great for hot Florida days. 🍻

I actually already filmed it! Check back next Wednesday at 11:00 am. 🍻 Doing a review video on my last four brews, including the shandy.

I always learn more as I watch your videos. I'm going to be kegging for the first time first thing next week. I'm excited about it. Of course it's all new to me. I've checked and double checked my CO2 lines to make sure that they don't leak, but I'm still paranoid about it. I've never had a beer like what you brewed this time. I'll have to try one to see if I would like it. Is there a brand in the store you could recommend to give me an idea of what it's like?
@CityscapeBrewing2 жыл бұрын
Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy is probably the most common or well known beer you can find in this style across the country. I think you'll do awesome on the kegging! It's all in your head right away, don't sweat it, It'll turn out great I'm sure!

@@CityscapeBrewing thank you for all your support! Today I add my dry hop addition. I have StarSan in a sprayer from 2 weeks ago, will that be good to sanitize the hop packet and scissors? Do I need to sanitize them?
@CityscapeBrewing2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you will want to sanitize both the packet and the scissors. The sanitizer should be good for about a month or so. I tried to change it out every time I brew or if it sits there for a long time. It's all about the lower pH that kills bacteria. If the pH goes bad then you need to change it

Just a quick question Dennis, What's your reasoning behind using the hydrometer at the end of the ferment If you're already using the tilt?
@CityscapeBrewing Жыл бұрын
Because the tilt can be a little bit off. It's more of a gage to determine when your fermentation is complete. Sometimes you get krausen or hop particles built up on the tilt and it can be a few points different. A hydrometer is one of the only ways to have a truly accurate reading at the end to determine ABV. It also allows me to sample from it for a taste test. 🍻

Have you ever brewed a lager?
@CityscapeBrewing2 жыл бұрын
Yes, many times. One of the many reasons why I eventually made a fermentation chamber. Almost a necessity to ferment at colder temps around 50-55 and while lagering.
@TheMattMustain2 жыл бұрын
@@CityscapeBrewing Try pressure fermenting at ale temps. It eliminates the lagering phase. A clean lager in a week. I've had great success.

@@TheMattMustain I'm going to brew this with 34/70 @room temp in my dining room under 10 psi. Works like a charm, clean and easy.

@@chevysaregr8 Good luck. Let us know the results. I didn't get a lot of lemon flavor from the crystals. May try unsweetened Country Time lemonade mix next round. I've used 34/70 under pressure many times. Just kegged a dry hopped Pilsner using it.
