If your dad wants to fix the geometry of his bike Chargecycleworks recommends when upgrading to a 16in rim to also upgrade the linkage with a 0.75 Prickly Performance Linkage (lift) which lifts the back to the right position geometry that the Surron was made for. It's a simple fix.

I've been looking at different people who have them and they pretty much all have this upgraded linkage. I'll let you know if I get this done on my bike and if it actually works. What about range its the same with the 16 inch and the 18inch? It's something that worries me a lot because I use the motorcycle to go to work and I'm afraid that to change the wheel I'll have to carry the charger to charge at work because I don't have enough charge to get home...thx bro

@@shimbofpv6224 it might effect the range a little but not drastically. I’m pretty sure since the 16 is smaller wheel which requires the motor to make more revolutions to cover the same distance as a bigger one. I think it will only effect range by a few %. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this. In the rear I have the Kenda 70/100-19 TrackMaster, OEM fit, no trimming. It is a definite improvement (wet/woods/mountain riding) and much less prone to flats (!) than original. It is likely not as much traction as your monster tires! However, it seems to me that you'd need power upgrades to the Sur Ron to drive these bad boys. I notice a massive rear sprocket on your bike -- do you feel that works well? Also, I went up to 56 tooth, but ended up going back to 48 tooth -- seems overall that is still the best match with my 19 and the Trackmaster. Going up hills I'm still wheeling out on occasion, tells me I have enough rear traction? Aloha!

Great videos! I am subscribed) I try to decide what tire combination to have. Usually it is only 16+19 and 18+21 choices with uplifting linkage. You give me another idea to left 19 front) What linkage are you using, the stock one or lifting up to save geometry ?

I’m using the prickly stock geometry linkage. I have 18 rear 19 front. I feel this is closest to the stock geometry. To me, the stock geometry feels best, since that’s what the bike was designed for. Although, I do have some friends with the lifted linkage and they say they don’t notice to much of a difference!

I got a warp 9 18/21 set the other day. Do you think I need to raise my linkage to make the bike sit flat on the ground. Prickly has an extended linkage that supposedly does that. Sounds like you would like the 18/21 better if it sat flat right?

Subbed and Been watching your Vids for 2weeks. Love the mods and upgrades. I bought my first Surron 2023 light bee road legal. With the stock knobby tyres. Any advice what to look out for when riding on roads. Will it skid or slip out? Wet weather... I will change to a different tyre later

i would never put 21 on my surron but thats because im a little bit smaller frame so i can go and do the same trails and terrain on my 19s and perform better than my 6ft tall friend on 21s my. smaller tires run over the bigger terrain better because im 65 pounds lighter than my friend. but if you and your friend are 5 10 or taller and similar weights a bigger wheel will trade a few performance dynamics to gain a better roll over and a better seat height. you have to remember surrons are not as powerful as real bikes so when you add a larger wheel you add weight and rolling mass so your breaking will be much worse and your acceleration will drop off. you have to realize when you have a 16 rear almost every metric is improved the biggest improvement of a 16 is the side walls are bigger meaning you can air down some to gain traction and a lot more suspension built in tire reducing damages to rims from abuse. remember when changing a wheel diameter torque and speed are opposite so if you add more size you gain speed at cost of torque. or the opposite and if you add a torque sprocket then you sacrifice speed and battery. best advice is know your trails and use the smallest wheels your terrain is suited for example if your planning to rip up some mild flat dirt then 16s front and rear would blow your mind. nearly moto size but if you had 16 front wheel be careful because the breaks can send you OTB fun fact that yes your front forks do slightly rake more it is why 19s can roll over as well as 21s roll over. and you run less risk of OTB!!! another fun fact is most riders turn by leaning the bike.... guess what! your doing it wrong!! when you intend to turn you need to weight over...... this means example you want to make a left turn put most your body weight on the right foot peg then lean your body to the left of the bike. this attempts to upright the bike as much as allowable making maximum traction!!!! the more you lean the bike the more you chance wash out and mitigate suspension effect. so if your turning left your bike leans 20 degrees your spine and head should be 22 degrees. most riders will lean the bike 30 degrees and head and spine will be 16 degrees.... not only does this raise risk of wash outs but it will very heavily hinder your skill progression by maintaining this bad habit. the heavier the bike the more you have to lean over the body such as pro street bikes taking a turn at 120 MPH the rider is so far left of the bike hes basicly beside the bike rubbing that knee pad on street. well in dirt we dont turn at 120mph on our dirt bikes that are half the weight but the dynamics are same to dont put your weight on the seat! put your weight on the opposing peg and lean slightly more than the bike for max skill progression and building proper habits

5:00 it's way more confortable to run a fat 16 inch tire over a thin 19 inch tire, 16 inch will absorb way more bumps than 19 inch, and way more traction

I felt that the 16in tends to get stuck on roots easier and since your closer to the ground there’s less clearance in rock sections and deep ruts. 18in feels like the best of both worlds between 16in and 19in and that’s why I run them👍 bigger diameter tires actually absorb bumps better than a smaller tire, that’s why all these downhill mountain bikes are now 27.5-29in instead of 26in

Actually I feel a big difference, it changes the steering tube angle drastically. 16in does have a lot of traction👍 just don’t like how the bike feels since I like to do a lot of jumps

in the end, the 19/16 variation is better, the reality is that whoever puts 18 in the back has to invest in a front 21 wheel and also raise the required power. For the 19 / 16 combination, it is not required...
