I have played tournament table tennis. It would be a far better and more picturesque game if played strictly with hard paddles. Old hard pip rubber or sandpaper. This would also increase popularity of the sport.

You can clearly see the strategy in both games. Zhang Jike and Matsudaira tried to pin their opponent in the backhand, being better there. Especially in the 7th game it becomes were exciting as Ma Long sometimes decides to move around and hit with his fh, knowing that Zhang will block in the wide forehand after that.
