Use weavile, it’s late game, but I used it and it was amazing. (I used high crit moves and holding a razor claw until the e4, it crit a LOT) and it will 2 shot cynthia’s garchomp with ice shard. ( I had to use icicle plate to do that :/ )

As a sinnoh player myself, I thought I'd give my opinion on this: Infernape: used infernape before, it's very powerful and very fast, it's a good choice. Just be careful of its movepool, as its main moves (flare blitz and close combat) have side effects, so I'd recommend teaching it fire blast. workable defenses, great offenses/speed, it's just good to have. Also can solo the first gym the second it evolves, and can destroy the second gym, so good as a start-up pokemon. Gastrodon: stats aren't great, but they're not bad, either. Be wary of its low speed, though, because its defenses are ok-at-best. Also, its movepool is kinda shallow; surf + sludge bomb are great choices, but for ground your best option is dig (as the earthquake TM is very hard to get), so... Typing is great, but be aware that its moveset and stats aren't all perfect. Drifblim: similar to gastrodon. Offensively, it's OK, and it's much faster than gastrodon, but its defenses are kinda meh. But its movepool is significantly better. Shadow ball + Psychic + Thunder/Bolt is nothing to sneeze at, though it doesn't have too many flying options. Evolves at a reasonable level too, so it's pretty good. It's defenses might become an issue, as it's fast but not a rocket, so be wary, but it is a literal god against the second gym, so it has that going for it. Bronzong: ...eh. Typing is great, but stats really aren't. it's physical attack is OK, but the only great physical move it has is gyro ball, which you only get late-game, and it's physical attack needs a justification to be used (base 79), and even then it's basically STABs + shadow ball, which, again, isn't available until the game is halfway done (save shadow ball, though on its own it can't justify much without STAB). It's also super slow, so you'll need to do a bulky attacker setup. But bronzong's biggest issue is bronzor. You catch it at level 15, and it doesn't evolve until level 32, and between those two levels you're using a piece of garbage that can't attack to save it's life, is super slow, and is really just an EXP drag. Seriously, I've tried using it; it's not good. It needs a LOT of training to become useful, use at your own risk. If you really want a psychic type, kadabra/alakazam are probably better options (frail, but godly powerful and super fast) Drapion: This is either good or bad depending on your perspective. Drapion is good- it learns some good moves, and has good attack and good speed, plus some nice defense as a bonus. The issue is... it takes a while to get good. before it evolves, it's only offensive move is pin missile, so... that's pretty bad (can learn bug bite in platinum). But you can give it some great moves (X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Brick Break) if you're willing to search for + sacrifice some TMs, so it's not bad. It evolves late- level 40- so be prepared to use a skourpi for a while. But once it does evolve, it's pretty good. The only real issue is that once you catch it, it's pretty useless vs. the nest two gyms & all of team galactic, and not particularly good vs. anything else, so be wary. Also it's a rotating great marsh pokemon so it's a pain to catch, but it's possible. Abomasnow: surprisingly good. on paper, it's kinda meh- 92 attack/sp. attack (consistent with most of this list), only 60 speed, and ok-but-not-great defenses, which isn't too great. But it shines in its movepool. Blizzard (100% accurate in hail) and Wood Hammer are 120 power, which is amazing. Plus they're available immediately, which is even better. It also evolves at level 40, but snover is caught around level 35 so who cares? Hail helps its blizzards, but it will never go away so make sure your team is prepared for it. It's only real issue is coverage- Earthquake (hard to get) + brick break + shadow ball + focus blast (70 accuracy) are the only real options, so use it wisely. Also, it's the only one on this list whose typing is a problem, so be wary. (and you can't catch it until right before gym 7, so you'll have a hole in your team until then). Overall: in the endgame, they are pretty good. But if you look at what you'll have to do to get them that good, their cracks can show, especially for bronzong (there's a reason why team galactic uses it). So no, this probably isn't the best possible team, though finding exactly what that team is would be next to impossible, and probably up to personal preference. So, my advice? find your preferred playstyle, and find pokemon which suit that.

I think Brongzong is one of the best pokemons you can use in sinnoh. Works perfectly as a wall, having only one weakness if you choose levitate. With Calm mind you can setup to be stronger if you feel that Brongzong is weak. The only problems with Brongzong is his speed, fire pokemon, dark pokemon, as far as I know. He is not slow at leveling up as he is in the medium fast growth rate. Bronzor is weak but learns extrasensory early and has 86 in both defences, so it shouldnt be a problem leveling up, and if it is you can always switch train or use exp share.

Honestly, just finished the main story of Platinum, and I have to say, pretty much the only one out of any of these I'd replace is Roserade. The rest are really handy, and most of them can be pretty damn tanky given the right situation. Edit: I wanna give special attention to Drifblims "tankyness". It's defenses ARE fairly unimpressive, but the sheer gargantuan amount of HP it has lets it take hits fairly well. It also helps that it gets Stockpile to help with those defenses. As for Bronzong, it's claim to fame as a tank truly is the typing, especially when it has Levitate. Plus both of it's defenses are scary big, although you will definitely need Calm Mind for it to do any decent Special damage. Overall, both are great.

I can honestly say this team is very surprising! Except for Infernape it doesn't have any of the super popular choices from Sinnoh such as Staraptor, Luxray, Floatzel or Lucario. Most of these Pokémon I think I have never used before and if there is a Sinnoh remake or I am feeling nostalgic I might give this team a try!

Well that was er interesting... Here’s my recommendation for a Platinum team, because honestly, it’s a better, polished, finished version of D/P: Infernape, Garchomp, Floatzel, Rotom. The other two members can be a toss-up, but these guys are the core. Drapion is a very good choice. Here's why I pick them (as well as recommended moveset). Garchomp: Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Iron Head, Crunch Why not? You can get Gible in the Wayward Cave right below Cycling Road after beating Gardenia. In fact, the Sinnoh games more than any other allows you to build a decent team almost from the get go. It evolves into Gabite at an early level 24. Enjoy the region which gives you your pseudo-legendary almost hassle-free. Floatzel: Waterfall, Crunch, Ice Fang/Ice Punch, Aqua Jet Floatzel is your primary counter to Bertha, Cynthia’s Garchomp and Fantina’s Mismagius. It’s pre-evo Buizel is available early on, before Gardenia. Buizel at Lvl 10 has Pursuit and at Lvl 26 it evolves into Floatzel and learn Crunch, both good counters against Fantina’s Mismagius which will outspeed most of your Pokemon. Treat anything Mismagius outspeeds as dead. Forget Driflim, it’s dead to Mismagius. Waterfall is your primary STAB. Ice Fang is through Move Reminder, Ice Punch is a Move Tutor (Route 212). It’s your Garchomp counter as well as several NPCs like Cyrus and his Honchkrow. Aqua Jet for priority finishes. Rotom: Discharge, Shadow Ball/Ominous Wind, Signal Beam, Substitute You can access Rotom in the Haunted House's TV during Fridays for your own Electric/Ghost with Levitate. You're gonna need it against Cyrus's EQ Gyarados though be careful of his Honchkrow. You can get Magnezone but it will be late in the game and the STAB steel moves it offers is for Rock and Ice types, which your Starter can handle faster. Crasher Wake’s Floatzel is going to be a bitch though. But with that Attack, Speed and Ice Fang, it'll be a bitch to Grass Types too. Try to set up Substitute if possible. Drapion. For the final Pokèmon you can choose a Grass Type for Wake and Bertha, or Bronzong. Grass Type: Roserade/Leafeon Budew can be a great help against Roark early on. Or you can get Roselia before Hearthome if you don't want to deal with the friendship evo. You can also get Eevee in Hearthome and fly back to Eterna Forest for the mossy rock. Leafeon has a better Defense (130) for Wake’s Floatzel but it’s a Physical Attacker and it’s STAB Leaf Blade comes so late in the game at Lvl 71, leaving you with Razor Leaf. Roserade has a much better movepool. Bronzong: Gyro Ball/Iron Head, Zen Headbutt, Strength, Stealth Rock Alternatively, Bronzong can deal with Floatzel via Gyro Ball. Zen Headbutt is your Psychic STAB to help deal with Team Galatic’s Poison Types while Strength is a good substitute for Return as a coverage move.

It may say that Gible is available in Wayward Cave but its actually available in a sub-cave that can only be accessed by using strength under cycling road and not in the main cave

if you're going for a highly offensive approach I'd suggest Staraptor over Drifblim - 20 points higher base Speed, ~30 point higher base Attack (comparing to Drimblim's higher Special Attack stat), and due to Intimidate it even has better physical bulk. It also learns better moves earlier (lol wing attack/return dual STAB for gym 1) and you can get it with less hassle.

This video helped me out so much. I recently bought Pearl after loosing my old copy and replayed it. My end team was Infernape, Garchomp, Palkia, Gastrodon, Bronzong and Crobat. Only one i disagreed with is drifblim. I used one on my most recent journey and it wasn't all useful. High HP, but terrible defenses which waste it, low speed so i can't use it against lucian without it being outsped and 1HKOd by a shadow ball. It gets wrecked hy coverage moves, and can't 1HKO anything it's level. looks really cool though lol

captainrex717 it does get Stockpile as a level up move to buff those defenses. Perhaps use Drifblim against Pokémon that don’t have Ghost or Dark moves on Lucian’s team would be better. There are lots of good Dark types in Sinnoh such as Drapion, Honchkrow and Skuntank (if you’re playing Diamond), Spiritomb (if you are willing to go through the hassle of getting it), and Umbreon if you are playing Platinum. Drifblim is a good Pokémon if used correctly, but I think Dark types deal with Lucian a lot better (just be weary of Focus Blast).

I've seen a few complaints about the team being slow. Problem is: Diamond and Pearl's Pokedex is extremely limited and the availability of "good" Pokemon are about 6 badges in. My Platinum team was: Empoleon Staraptor Garchomp (Gible being available just 2 badges in is awesome!) Avalanche is a horrible move on Weavile because of minus priority and Weaviles defenses are weaker than paper the best moves for Weavile is Ice Shard, Ice Punch, Icicle Crash if you want an ice move. Avalanche is only good on slow bulky Ice types because minus priority and the added affect of doubling to 120 power if you move 2nd but Weavile is a frail ice type so the moves don't go together. but yes Avalanche is a good move for Abomasnow because he is a slow bulky ice type.

I agree with the list but, Skorupi is really unreliable to get. I have been messing around with the time and date on my DS and I have gone through over 2 months and have not even seen a hint skorupi even exists.

AngelBird if you mess with the ds time and date, daily events won't work for up to 24 hours. Skorupi can be found in the safari zone and the zone changes what pokemon it has daily. So even if you skip ahead you can't change the pokemon found. I suggest you be patient and check daily. Remember, you don't have to play all the time.

I'm playing Diamond rn, and I didn't get a skorupi for weeks, and that's using a strategy I suggest you use if you aren't already. Because changing the date itself will stop daily events from working for 24 hours in Gen 4, you can't do that, but there is an oversight in the game's anti-cheat. If you change the time to 23:59 and enter the game before it changes to 00:00 (aka the next day), the game won't think the date's been changed and allows daily events to occur. I eventually got it using this method, so you should definitely use this to speed up the process. Hope I helped.

Here's what I thought of: A torterra that knows earthquake as one of its moves, and also for STAB effect as well. Since skuntank can learn flamethrower as both a level up move, and a tm move, skuntank can be on your team, and have nightslash, toxic, and possibly sludge bomb as well for 3 of its moves, and also for STAB as well. You can also have flamethrower as one of skuntanks moves, so that you do not have to worry about catching a fire type throughout the whole game. You can catch both meditite early on in the game, you can catch it, while having a pokemon that not only takes care of the types that fighting types can take care of, but also all of the types that psychic types can take care of. Also, medicham's dual typing of fighting and psychic makes all dark and psychic type moves do neutral damage. Also, even though it learns psychic through tm, it learns both calm mind and power trick through level up. As for fighting type moves, it learns both force palm and reversal through leveling up. Also, there's a chance that force palm can paralyze the opponent. As for reversal, it does more damage the less hp the user has. But if you're not a fan of meditite, machop is another fighting type that you can catch early on in the game. A gyarados, b/c gyarados learns ice fang as a level up move for the gen 4 games, making it a useful pokemon to take down all of the flying, grass, and dragon types. Also, it's b/c garchomp is 4 times weak to ice type moves. But if you do not want gyarados to learn ice fang, it can also has ice beam and dragon pulse both as tm moves. As for a flying type, the starly line is a good type, not only b/c staraptor can learn close combat as a level up move, but also b/c staraptor can learn toxic as a tm move. Finally, for the 6th pokemon, I would suggest luxray, b/c when you get to the 4th gym, crasher wake has a gyarados on his team, which is 4 times weak to electric type moves. Also, if torterra somehow faints before cynthia uses her milotic, you already have another pokemon that can defeat her milotic. Also, since torterra learns earthquake very early on, as in as soon as grotle evolves into torterra, it learns earthquake, you can easily use both torterra with earthquake, or gyarados and a water type moves to defeat the elite 4 guy who uses fire type pokemon.

Infernape: Agree 100%. Mach Punch and Flame wheel holds the early to mid game, and Close Combat and Flare Blitz sweep in the late game. Grass Knot can provide early coverage and Stone Edge can be added later. Gastrodon: I prefer Floatzel to Gastrodon, and they are encountered at the same time. They have similar mixed offenses but Floatzel is much faster so his coverage moves can actually matter - plus he gets his main coverage (Ice Fang) much earlier and for 'free' so you are open to use the Ice Beam TM somewhere better. Driftblim: I wanted to love this choice, but after testing I just couldn't. The ghost typing can't be exploited as heavily in the Sinnoh region, and Psychic could be a good coverage move, but you don't get it until basically the post-game (I don't count the Gambling coins). You do get Thunderbolt right before all the water routes so that's good - but there are better read:faster mon to use that on. I feel like Driftblim is just a Fly-Slave, and I could slap Fly on a Starraptor or Honchcrow(Diamond) and at least have a backup sweeper if Internape falls. Bronzong: I love Bronzong, but not as a main game team member. They are sllooww and have a hard time killing anything mid game due to lack of physical psychic move; its not useful to have a set up/stall pokemon on a story playthrough team, and all the coverage it can get is covered elsewhere on the teams so...leave Bronzong for post-game stuff. Drapion: Great choice - decent damage, really fast, can take a physical hit, and most importantly nice wide coverage options you can build around your team both from Heart Scales and TMs. The one downside here is just how RNG capturing it can be - I say if you get it in the 1-2 Marsh runs you'll do for items anyway then go for it, otherwise skip and we can get other options. Abomasnow: Sleeper hit of the list - It's not the slowest 'mon you tried to put on the list, and it comes in with exactly what it needs to perform when it needs to perform in the story. Is that good enough postgame? Probably not, but I don't knock the pick.

Luxray: Not sure why it didn't make the cut, it's popular for a reason. You get it extremely early and its useful through the meat of the game with Spark - Pokemon games love their water routes, and flying type trainers, and on your main team the only electric you have is a TM move on a very slow mon. Rosarade: One of the only good main story choices for a Special Sweeper, covering your main sweeper's weakness. Plus it's own weaknesses (Fire and Psychic) are some of the least represented types in the Sinnoh story. Only negative against it is it doesn't get Psychic type move without breeding. Gliscor: If it's an option to you (either have a copy of Emerald around, or playing on emulator) it's a great choice - bulky, fast, beyond excellent coverage. If only it could learn Fly HM :p Lucario: You get one for free in the midgame, but have to Exp Share it up - which plenty of people do for Garchomp anyway, but this is earlier and Lucario can be built as a mixed or special attacker if the rest of your team sways toward physical - and a big plus is a lot of these moves like Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, etc are just in his learnset naturally! If you go all Physical be mindful that he'll use a lot of TMs though. Any I mentioned above: Floatzel is a fine replacement for Gastrodon for reasons I meant over. If I NEEDED a Ground/Water I'd even consider Quigsire over Gastrodon, it has slightly worse special stats but slightly better physical stats and learns Earthquake naturally (and quite early!) Honchcrow if your not playing Pearl is a fine Flyer if you want to avoid Staraptor - and can even be a Special attacker under Nasty Plot - if you haven't noticed a theme Sinnoh has a huge bias toward physical attackers, so get Special attackers where you can.

Not exactly a good team...but I love Drapion n Infernape but the others are just too slow n definitely abomasnow just sucks. I rather have roserade, lucario, n other fast pokemon.

Actually knock off only had 20 base power during gen 4. If anything you should go for bite instead due to it being 60 base power which isn't to bad

I used a bronzor for the first time And Ive got to say its only saving grace until it evolves is its tanking. It wont do much offensively, but it might live long enough to clutch a confuse rat or hypnosis The second it evolves, it takes off. It will drag team galactic through the mud, and flash cannon comes in hand when fighting anything that resists psychic

The problem about the team is that they are slow and some of there defense or spe def is not that good. Before even the pokemon you recomended attack their hp will be low as hell. The most dependable pokemon is infernape becauss it almost one shot everthing but the only problem is thd move loophole.
