Your final images zoom and rotation really gives the images a 3D feel.

I just received the same model and coma corrector in July, had limited opportunity to get sufficent time on it but what I have seen is excellent. Went ahead and flocked the tube and installed a mask on the primary and shimmed the primary to minimize any chance of lateral movement without pressure. Installed a rigid clamshell type mount on the top rings to hold a ST80 guidescope. PHD2 guiding has been excellent ranging from .3-.5 arc/s with a EQ8 mount. FLO was quick to ship to Colorado and safely packed. Collimation was off quite a bit but didn't matter since I was going to do the aforementioned work. Tonight is supposedly going to be clear for a change. Like all the photos you have produced with this scope. keep'em coming!

Wonderful!!!, I have considered flocking and putting the mirror mask on mine, just never got around to do it yet.

Thanks for the wonderful in-depth tutorial. As with other posters here , you've inspired me to make this purchase even though I live in Las Vegas. Can you tell me where you found the toboggan to cover the end of the reflector to avoid light leaks at the mirror end . I am currently imaging with a ZWO 80 mm refractor . Some of the videos I've seen on collimation put me off a little. But I saw one using a concentric collimation eye piece that seems to avoid some of the issues or cost of the other tools. I even deeply researched using it with a ZWO 2600 duo camera and apparently if used with a German GPU, coma corrector it is possible for the light to illuminate both the main and the guide sensor And hopefully since it's only 20 pounds and 3 feet long my AM3 mount will be able to handle it. Thanks again for such a nice job.

Great review. I have the TS-Optics version (also GSO branded) and its fantastic. I only use it for visual. The Moon is so vivid and lively and really gives the sense of being there, which I don’t think you experience when looking at a picture of screen.

I got an 8” f4 this year. It replaced the zs73 APO. Everyone told me that I had made a big mistake. They couldn’t have been more wrong! Yes, collimation adds on to the routine and it takes some efforts to carry it around. But that’s not an impossible job. Makes me feel more involved when I see the final image even after a long time. With a cc like the one you got or sky watcher Quattro f4 cc, you are sorted. AM5 handles it very nicely. You need some CWs though.

Everyone has no idea what they are talking about lol. Large aperture will always output a thousand times more details. Yes, APOs are great for wide-field and easy to use, but if you want performance and fine details at large focal length, reflectors are the way to go. There is no APO that will ever beat that.

Hi Trevor, I purchased this scope after your product review... Can't say how much I love this scope! I wanted to know if you have seen that Ageno Astro now has a GPO Focuser that is EAF compatible and has a built in rotator. If so, have you purchased it and using it? I know in this video you mentioned the lack of a rotator.

Thanks for the review! The day I have my own observatory, I'll probably switch to reflectors. More bang for the buck, clearly. Until then I'll keep my 122mm refractor since I do have to lug it in and out.

Thank you for the great review! I've been running a Hyperstar C9.25 for quite a while, and while I love it, there's a whole lot of stuff I don't bother shooting because the image scale is just too small at 514 mm FL. I've got the gear to run the C9.25 at f/6.3, with the same Askar M54 OAG and filter drawer incidentally, but smaller 294 camera. But then I have the oppposite extreme, too big an image scale. Been looking at 1000 mm FL newts as a happy medium, and was specifically looking for an 8" f5 vs a 10" f4 due to the weight of the 10"s. Sadly, aside from carbon tube TS UNC/ONTC at 3 times what I wanted to pay, I was running into a whole lots of "not in stock" for GSO 8" f5s. Plenty of inexpensive 10" f4s, but again, more massive than I want to hang on my CEM40. Glad to see these Stellalyre branded GSOs are still available from FLO, and shipping to the US sounds painless! I am so close to pulling the trigger, based in large part on your review, being about the only recent review of an 8" f5 newtonian I've found. Thanks again!

And congrats on both clearing up whatever the YT issue was, and big congrats on punching your commercial ticket! One day I'll go get my private, but as a hobbyist, it costs worse than astrophotography, lol. So I'll be sticking with part 103 powered paragliding for the conceivable future.

You should consider a Pegas Astro power box to manage power and dew heaters. I now have 1 power brick running everything and heaters adjusted by dew point.

For the most part i enjoy your videos. I am a subscriber. However, making statements lumping a $500 reflector, a $5500 Esprit 150 APO and a $20,000 handfigured Astro-Physics refractor together and then saying the reflector blows them out of the water is silly and ridiculous. You obviously have never looked through or imaged with a high end refractor. The reason research grade telescopes are all mirror type is not because they're better it's because of size limits on lenses. The Yerkes telescope represents the largest example of what's possible with an objective lens. Also, the technology to use a triplet instead of a doublet wasn't there. I like your reflector and possibly see one in my future. You should stick with what you know. There's no need to justify your choice of scope. No need to dis your fellow amateur because he chooses another type of scope and spends more. How would you like it if i said pilots who fly Cessnas are ignorant because all pilots should fly jets? After all, the majority of people fly in jets...

@@mikeharden7904 your completely right on the aspect of higher end scopes and no I haven’t had the chance to use them. My point is targeted to the budget aspect of things and the Bang for the Buck. And there’s no doubt jet pilots are better hahaha we pilots are a competitive bunch lol. Sorry for the tone I might have presented. Thx and clear skies
