Stink beans are so good! First had them at a Thai restaurant and was hooked ever since. Definitely a taste that grows on you since there’s bitterness to it. Noticed that too about a lot of foods now compared to as a kid

We only were there for a short stay on the way to Sri Lanka but we made sure to feast on street food in Yaowarat! We also went for a bit longer back in 2015. Definitely wanna go back for a longer stay!

It was, but thankfully the winter here hasn’t been consistently cold so far. Great cuisine and that dill soup was one of the standouts for sure - perfect for that snowy weather. Kinkhao is great! They really pile on the food and they rotate their dishes. Was so excited to see the stink bean! It is pretty underrated. Took me some time to get into chicken rice, but definitely appreciate and enjoy it more now. That rice was so nice and gingery

You guys read my mind! Been wanting Thai for two weeks!! That Dill soup and then the ginger rice gave me goose bumps. I stood at the counter eating yesterday’s cold ziti straight from the fridge while watching!! The roasted red pepper sour dough toast, that I had planned for breakfast, wasn’t going to cut it!! You gotta try it if you find it on a menu - it was our first time trying gai yang like this and it blew us away! So perfect with that sticky rice and jaew sauce

Ohhhh we like your thinking! 🤔🤔 Yesss love sticky rice and that container makes it even better. Haha that’s an interesting one - the broth has enough flavor on it’s own where you can avoid the dill if you’re not a fan

8:56 that noodle dish has such similars to chinese lo mein.. The sauce marinating the noodles wow.. Tasty!

It does! And the flavors of star anise and five spice in the stewed pork definitely gives it more of a Chinese flavor. So good!

We went to Hug Esan last winter during one of those polar vortex things came over NYC. I think it was in the teens or single digits with the wind blowing. So we get inside and take a seat and first thing I noticed was everyone still had jackets hats scarfs etc on. More people were coming in, and I soon realized after seeing the menu that all of us were there for one thing, incredibly good thai food that you just can't find in most places. Forget how cold it is how uncomfortable it may feel when the food came all we wanted was more. One dish a bit unique that Gig and others loved was the raw blue crab salad

Oh man Hug Esan is the perfect place for a polar vortex meal! Totally agree - unique dishes here you can’t normally find. They have so many papaya salads here. That dill soup is really special! Thanks for watching and commenting, guys!

Thanks, Dyske! Didn’t realize it til a few days ago but lost some weight - maybe the intermittent fasting is paying off. We’ve been focusing on the pace and tighter edits to make it snappier. Glad you noticed and liked it! That’s a good idea! I do say certain phrases pretty often haha
