I live in Northeast Georgia and the surrounding areas like Unicoi and Anna Ruby Falls are beautiful. As for Helen there is to much traffic so be patient.

Helen is beautiful. I love the mountains. I've been through there in the past. I would love to rent a cabin there this winter.

Betty’s Country store in Helen is a great place to purchase fresh meat and groceries. Also have wine and great sandwiches for lunch.

We visited Helen once a (very) long time ago and thought "How charming". We'd like to go again one of these days. We hope they have "GOOD German" food. After my "native" food, German food is my favorite. Believe it or not, the best I ever had was in (of all places) at a German restaurant in New Jersy, "The Blue Swan Inn" many years ago. No longer in business. Never had better (YET)!

That's a pretty good list, honestly. I also hate to miss the Old Sautee Store, Smith's Soda Shop in nearby Cleveland, or JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters & Tasting Room (they have MEAD), overlooking the face of Mt. Yonah. Otherwise, these are all of the spots! GREAT JOB!

When planning a visit to Helen make sure there is an event of some sorts, otherwise it's just another tourist town with no charm. I cannot speak for the hikes outside the city but I was expecting more German influence in town. 6 out of 10
