Frank, I watched this video after watching the other video you made from the sofa. This one is much better. A few points. One, right after you made the comment about Miami Beach and reached the end, you have to keep walking between 50-100 metres in the same direction. When you are there, the sand is fluffy and not hard packed, there is zero traffic, zero vendors and you can have quite a bit of peace and quiet. I was there for 5 weeks in February and March and only spent 1 day where all the cabanas and people are. The other area is always very quiet and I did all my swimming in that area. Also, when the sun is going down or at night, the walk along the beach from your Miami Beach area to the restaurant area is fantastic. Gorgeous sunset or very peaceful under moonlight, until you venture to the sidewalk on the main street where all the restaurants are.

Dear John Thank you for this hint. I will explore that beach the next time I will visit Santa Marta. best regards frank
@johnstamegna31513 жыл бұрын
@@COLOMBIAFRANK It is the same beach, but when you are walking south from Miami Beach, go just a bit past the large hill with the restaurant and parasols wrapped around it, with the the hotel on it. I do agree that I would avoid Miami Beach during the day. I was there in February and March and once you get to 5-6pm, the beach is mostly empty and it's an amazing walk to the restaurant area.

I like the style of this video ...a little walking tour . I would love to see the same with Riohacha . I think that city has some serious foreign tourism potential as the the jumping off point for Alta Guajira . Like you said SM has national tourism , but I think Riohacha has the resources to exploit the international market . It's got a long way to go but I think the process has begun. It needs to start with better access .Way nicer city beaches than Santa Marta's also .

@johnstamegna31513 жыл бұрын
I think 2-3 days in Cartagena is sufficient. I would land in Cartagena, experience the beautiful city for a couple of days, then take a 4 hour bus ride and make my home base in Rodadero. From there you are 10 minutes from Centro Historico ($3 USD cab ride each way), 35 minutes from Minca, 45 minutes from Tayrona, 30 minutes from Taganga, and within a 10-20 minute boat ride to the other area beaches. There are hundreds of restaurants, the Centro Historico is very nice at night, and the nature in surrounding areas is second to none.

@@johnstamegna3151 I was thinking of doing the same but instead of driving 4 hrs from Cartagena would I be missing out on anything if I land in Barranquilla and go from there?
@johnstamegna31513 жыл бұрын
@@WWFMedia Baranquilla is ok, but Cartagena is amazing. There are so many amazing restaurants, museums and the fortress, San Felipe De Barajas is a must see. It is a wonderful downtown area to walk as well. Lots to see, but lots of beautiful places to stop off to eat or rest. I would 100% spend a weekend there. Baranquilla is only 70km from Santa Marta, but it is a full 2 hour drive because of slow speed limits through small towns, so you are only saving 2 hours. IF you are driving from Cartagena, you can stop off in Minca, which is 40 minutes from Santa Marta. It is worthwhile if you enjoy mountain hiking, waterfalls, and they have a nice coffee plantation. If you are not driving yourself, then MarSol Travel has 12-15 passenger vans.

Very good information-packed video of the Santa Marta area. Quick question: I have watched most of your videos and I don’t recall you explaining why you chose to live in Bogota over the other cities in Colombia. Why do you choose to continue living in Bogota?

Hey JB, I chose to live in Bogota because that is the city where my clients arrive and I think it is important so live where the business is.

@johnstamegna31513 жыл бұрын
Tobias, if you find someone, please let me know. The Airbnb that I had for 35 nights was very affordable, around $1,200 USD all in. When I did searches for similar condos through agents, the monthly price was half that. The trick is knowing that an agent is trustworthy, especially when you are booking from far away. All condos and hotels have guards. You should also look for a place with a swimming pool on site. One important note. You don't really need it, but unless it is mentioned, most places in Santa Marta don't have hot shower water. This is the listing I stayed at, it was amazing. www.airbnb.ca/rooms/28040896?

As a teacher, I wanted to offer you a gentle correction in your English. I feel like you use this phrase often so I wanted to help you say it correctly. You say, “I recommend you...”, but it’s properly said, “I recommend THAT you....”. I hope this is useful and not offensive.

The name of your channel is Colombia Frank, but the videos you do is Frank and a little bit of Colombia behind. Your comments about the Caribbean life “doing nothing” is insulting. Saying Taganga is an ugly beach … wow man! Read a bit about Taganga and read more about life in the caribe. Always room for improvement? Yeah of course but you came to Colombia your name your channel Colombia so I think you should be aware of the life in Colombia. Taganga is the main spot for tourists from Colombia. If you want beaches like Miami or Maldives guest what? Go to Miami or Maldives.
