Split is the second-largest city in Croatia and the largest city in the region of Dalmatia. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, centered on the Roman Palace of Emperor Diocletian.
Spread upon a central peninsula and its surroundings, Split's greater area includes the neighboring seaside towns. An intraregional transport hub and popular tourist destination, the city links to numerous Adriatic islands and the Apennine peninsula.
Here are some suggestions for things to do in Split. Visit the Diocletian's Palace; this ancient palace was built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in the heart of Split and is home to many shops, restaurants, and landmarks.
Walk along the Riva, the waterfront promenade in Split, which is a great place to take a leisurely walk, have a drink at a café, or watch the sunset. Explore Marjan Hill.
