So sorry to be picky, but it was "Admiral Rodney", who was responsible for defeating the French Fleet which came down from Martinique. A General works for the Army. An Admiral works for the Navy. I'm positive about this, because apart from serving 18 years in the British Army, my lovely wife was born in St Lucia. Take care out there.

Most beautiful Island I've been on. Albeit it was 22 years ago...........it was magical. The beaches are awesome. Sad to see they've built up all those barriers/walls around the volcano mud baths. Used to just be natural.

Went to the jade mountain back in the summer, and I can say that an chastnet was the most scenic and quiet beach I have been to in a long time! And a beautiful view of the pitons as well!

Update: We had a blast but driving can be tedious. Plan accordingly and don't get caught in rush hour traffic i.e. between 7:30 and 9:30 am. Worse than NYC at times.

Diamond Falls is not the waterfall featured in Romancing the Stone. The scene was filmed in Mexico, Texolo Falls. FABULOUS place regardless!

Yes you can rent a car. But buses go around the island too.

@@chickenandwaffles09 buses littering run every five minutes. I lived there for twenty years so I do know all about the island. It is indeed a lovely place to visit. Most people are lovely but like everywhere you need to be smart don’t walk around with jewellery anything expensive as tourists do get robbed occasionally. Have a great time !!!!

Stonefield was amazing to stay at. We spent more time in our own villa compared to when we stayed in Calabash Cove. Stonefield felt like it was definitely made for a private romantic escape. And the view of the Piton is incredible. We really enjoyed both hotels, so it all depends on what you are looking for in a vacation. At Calabash, we spent more time at the pool bar and in the restaurant, but we also had a private plunge pool that we enjoyed as well. No views of the pitons, but the beach is located directly on the property. With Stonefield, you can walk down to the beach or take a shuttle. Have an amazing time. Both are incredible places.
