Best Time of Year to Trek to Everest Base Camp

Join, Dean Cardinale as he explains the best times of year to trek to Everest Base Camp. At World Wide Trekking we trek to Everest Base Camp during two season's with the best weather. The Spring Season in May is a good time because it is pre-monsoon season, Everest Climbers make their way to EBC in April to prepare for the climb on Everest in May. By May as the Monsoon shifts the winds on the summit ridge of Everest drop down and climbers make their way to attempt summit. In May you would see the base camp tents and climber parties preparing for the climb.
World Wide Trekking also leads treks to Everest Base Camp in the Fall Season; October and November. In the Fall (post-monsoon season) the rains have cleared the temperatures cool and the views of the mountains and high Himalayas is breathtaking. The fall season gives us a good chance for not only clear views and hiking days but also clear weather to fly in helicopters from Kathmandu to start our trek and back at the end of our trek from Pheriche. Monsoon tends to last longer nowadays. Clearest time now seems to be late November to early December. Cold but clear, no crowds. Possible to visit the real location of EBC not just stop at the stupid rock.

I agree the later October into November is cooler and a good chance for clear weather. At EBC not much changes after the current marker rock, however year after year that current marker rock will also move and soon there will be a different marker. Thanks for your comment even if it has a negative tone. Trekking is fun! Be happy!

@@Wwtrek Sorry about the negative tone, but having spent time at the real EBC with expeditions (1985, 1998, 2009) I really do not understand why that boulder has turned into an EBC? I understand EBC is now mostly closed to visitors (when there is an EBC, that is), but in the autumn people could hike to the actual location. Is it that having a picture taken at the "marker" is more important than the feeling of standing at the actual EBC even if it is just an empty piece of gravel covered glacier? At 20 m/a that rock fades away in maybe 2-3 decades, or not, EBC trek becoming correspondingly easier every year...
