I stayed in Korea for 14 days this Spring. I went completely alone to Jeju, Busa, Gyeongju and Seoul (met friends in Seoul tho). I did all that by myself, without speaking Korean, just using Naver map and Papago. Buses and subway are super easy to get by, especially if you are used to public transportation. If you use naver maps with your earbud/headphone, it even tells you when to get off (iOS version). That being said, finding places directly on Naver maps is not very easy if you can't type in Korean. Your videos helped a lot too!! :D

Hey! Is the Papago an app to pay subway and buses?

I will be going alone in Spring ‘25 for 18 days & looking forward to it. Your info was helpful.

My experience as a foreigner so far (I've been in Korea 3 times): - Last time on Jeju, I borrowed a car from Lotte car rental. It was easy to reserve and pick up even if you don't have a Korean card or ARC. I returned the vehicle like 2 hours in advance and they even refunded me that time. - I love to walk a lot, so I always get to places where locals don't think someone from another country will appear. They were then always really friendly and "tried to help" me, because they thought, that I was lost and didn't believe the thing, I just wanted to see that place :)

Thank you for the video. Since i'm vegan it was nearly impossible to find restaurants with vegan options. But my tutor suggested to go and try temple food. This is what i will go for on my next trip to Seoul in April. Keep up the great work and take care. :)

Yeah, temple foods are vegan! Search 사찰음식 in naver map to find temple foods around ;)

I used Naver when i went last summer. I used all the advice that Yong gave me in the Naver video. Coming back in October this year... summer was a bit too hot!

Do you have any suggestion for airbnb or apps to assist with booking stays for large group? We would love to try a hanok stay, but our group is big.

I have visited South Korea 2x, but I am still curious to this day. Restaurants typically serve large portion of food. I am amazed how Korean could eat so much but continue to have fit figures. If I were to order so much menu and end up not able to eat them all, will this disappoint the sajangnim?
@yourkoreafriend5 ай бұрын
The secret of staying fit is that people don’t finish the whole dish lol. My girl friends can’t or don’t finish the whole dish and leave some leftovers all the time. On the other hand, my guy friends finishe whole dish lol Sometimes I can’t finish a dish either. It wouldn’t disappoint sajangnims 😉

Don't rent a car in Jeju. Use Klook, Trazy, etc. There are other great apps. The Jeju tours are awesome. Driving would be a nightmare for parking, I saw NASTY morning traffic in Jeju and you meet people on tours. Jeju city is walkable or quick cab a short way here or there. Great surprising place to explore that i dont hear much about.
