I learned my lesson once years ago on my first new car, there was bird droppings on the windshield and I ran out to clean it with glass cleaner and I was rubbing it thinking hey it's glass not paint. Sure enough I had etched some scratches into the windshield. I was beyond pissed.

Trees can cause stains especially after a big rainfall. I had a rust stain that dealer removed for me. A detail place where I go in Brooklyn didn't want to bother. Some places don't like to do anything extra. I told another manager in the shop who said if he were around that he would have taken care of it.

I live in t he states but it is the same battle. They really do aim for shiny things. I can have my car dirty all year and not be the victim of a single bird shit. Then I wash it and clean it up and it is like every bird in my state used my car as a toilet.

I had a bird poop stain on my black 2015 truck. Removed it and it had etched the paint. Would not come out with porter cable and mequiars microfiber cutting pad. I ended up using Griots garage ultimate compound and a polishing pad by hand multiple times to finally get it out. Truck had been sitting in the sun for a week so the damage was pretty strong, but it did finally come out

Great video. For really stubborn bird stains, you can use Eucalyptus Oil and some cotton buds. Wipe clean with a wet sponge. Its cost effective too

If you do not treat the bird droppings appropriately and if they are left to sit, they might leave ugly etching and almost permanent marks behind. Bird droppings are caustic and they can permanently damage the finish of a car. As the droppings might also contain grit, they can scratch the car’s finish, especially when you try to rub them off. Bird droppings can easily harden on a sunny day and they might cause more damage to your car’s exterior than coarse sandpaper. There are several home remedies which can be employed for removing bird droppings but if they have hardened into a dry mess then you will certainly require the advanced facilities of auto detailers.

I let it sit on my car for days because after I clean 1 spot off, the next day I get 3 other spots. I think my white car attracts birds if anything, so I let everything sit on it till I feel like giving it a car wash at the wash. Here in NYC birds go anywhere they feel on cars and houses.

I'm pretty sure that the main problem with bird poo in general is its nitric acid content, NOT uric acid. The former is really corrosive and that's what causes the crap to eat away the paint.

Most likely wet sand the area, then polish out with a cutting pad followed by a foam polish pad. It's always worth trying polish before going straight to wetsanding because you don't want to jump straight to the extreme.

Noob question here. Will AMMO reflex protect my paint from clear coat fade, and if that product won't, which one will? I have a 2011 Accord coupe in Red and Honda's are infamous for having the clear coat fade on them and I want to keep my paint as immaculate as I can, I garage the car whenever possible but when I'm at work the Texas sun beats on it in the parking lot.

What If I carry a spray bottle filled with a mix of car soap and water? Me personally (hence my paint aint all that great) I get the spot a bit wet and try cleaning it off with a wet tissue or microfiber by not even adding force to it while cleaning. Just going over it gently until it disappears. In worst case scenarios, i end up using my nails also very gently taking only the big bits off. Sure it aint pretty, but u gotta keep that paint in shape

If your in the 1% of people who actually detail your car (or get a pro to do it for you) you could go for a bottle of water and a can of compressed air with a microfibre towel. Think of it as an emergency kit lol. Would definately go for this option if you have expensive paint or a vinyl finish etc 😊

These are pro solutions and good ones at that...... however it was a long weekend, a massive amount of Bird crap landed on my car and I did not want to let it sit for days or a week feeling it may do further damage. I had a white car. (Not sure what the outcome would be for a dark paint car?). The chunky part of the poop I got off. Not issue there. What was left was light green stains literally that looking like ink or something. I tried soap and water and a sponge. No change. I tried Turtle wax and some buffing. Did not help at all. I tried Baking soda and water. Did not do anything. I tried Baking soda and vinegar. Nothing. I tried Goo B Gone. No change... no effect. NOTE I chose a small bird poo stain for all these down near the side front fender in the most inconspicuous spot to test all these. In case any of them left some damage or abrasive marks in the paint. I recommend the same. If the situation allows for that. Finally what worked? A mixture paste of Oxy Clean Powder mixed plain hot water. Not so hot that it burns your fingers. I mixed it to a wet version of a paste. I tried applying and rubbing the stains using make Up Remover pads (those white round ones).... I tried a cloth.... it seemed the best way to do it was using my plain old fingers. I would apply a dollop and simply firm but a gentle firm.... rub it with my thumb or fingertips around and over each poo splatter. The more you kept rubbing the fainter and fainter the stain got. It does take some elbow grease and time. It took me around 45 to 55 minutes to do around 35 - 40 splatters ranging from the size of a dime to the size of a pea. But they all came out. Every now and then I would mist the whole area with water. You do not want the paste dry or chunky.... nor too thin.... a little wetter than toothpaste consistency. After I rinsed and rubbed everything with a soft towel and you could see some of the areas where I rubbed with the oxyclean but I am sure a going over with a good car wax with hint of rubbing compound would even out the small few areas I could see a bit of a difference in shine. Would I recommend this for anyone with a prestige car or Hot rod or show car? maybe not? But your everyday homeowner with a run of the mill regular car, SUV or whatever should find this to do the job. Again it is not the work of a pro like this author here but it worked enough for my liking on our white Honda Accord. Hope this helps. Note get bird poop off a car as fast as possible. Every day or hour your leave it lets the high acid content in Birds poop permeate the clear coat and even into the paint if left long enough. Cheers

Any spray wax should work. The only product of his that doesn't have a cheap alternative is Hydrate, but you can go without if you're not working on rare supercars.

Today I washed away 3 weeks old bird dropping and got scratches on the roof of my 5 years old car. I should have seen your video first. Now is my question: are those scratches just aesthetics issue or they could lead to corrosion in the future? How to fix the scratches? Would application of paint sealant help to protect this area of the scratches (they rather micro-scratches). What sealant you would recommend? Can one purchase AMMO products in Canada? Since the scratches are on the roof they are visible only from very close distance and if you know where to look, so I am not concerned about the aesthetics too much. My concern is mainly protection of the paint from corrosion. I can apply heavy duty Gorilla Crystal Clear Tape on the cleaned and dried surface if necessary as I did for the deep scratch on the passenger side door and saved $700 for scratch repair. It has been working for me for 3 years. It can be seen only from 5 feet distance or closer and only if you know where to look.

Outside of them making you money as a detailer... would you get rid of birds altogether like Matt Farah has suggested? They cause so much trouble in traffic and air traffic.
