Straight from the frathouse on Langdon st. He doesn’t want to buy batteries but he likes to shine a spotlight at his rig on the regular and I guess he plugs it into his car or he uses batteries for that? He needs to have another Busch light out of the beer bong. Straight up Sconnie. 😂

Great vid gents! I’m new to ice fishing so it was so helpful to see the close ups of your setups. What knot do you use on your octopus hooks? Would something like a Palomar work or does it need to be a Snell? Thanks!
@DairylandLegends2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Great question. A Palomar knot works great! I’m sure a smell would work well too. I personally use palomar knots.

Would you recommend using treble hooks or octopus hooks?
@DairylandLegends3 жыл бұрын
It’s a personal preference, but if the fish are extremely finicky, octopus hooks are recommended. For walleye, octopus. For northern pike, treble.

How do u put the minnow on the hook for walleye?? Front lips or back or middle How big of a minnows???
@DairylandLegends2 жыл бұрын
Great question! For walleye I find it most effective to hook the minnow in front of the dorsal fin. Behind works as well, but from my experience, hooking in the front works better. Smaller walleye sucker minnows seem to work the best, although, small shiners are great as well! Hopefully this helps! We will make a video on this so you can see how it’s done.:)

Nice vid, I like the keep it cheap and simple style. Does the 60lb flouro ever gt bit off by pike, or is it totally tooth proof? Thanks. Keep up the adventures.
@DairylandLegends2 жыл бұрын
60 lb fluorocarbon is super durable, but there is always that chance you can get bit off. I know I got bit off by a couple huge muskies last year and I couldn’t believe they broke that thick of line. Thanks for watching!

hey man, im still a bit new to ice fishing. When i set up my tip up, i use a dead minnow and attach it to a treble hook. But when i drop it in the water, the minnow just floats. The split shot will make it sink but is that normal for that to happen?
@DairylandLegends2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that is common, that is why you need to make sure that you are using a fluorocarbon leader and splitshot with that setup because fluorocarbon sinks.

Also, poke a hole in the swim bladder and squeeze as much air as possible out. That will fix the issue.

I gotta laugh at everyone who thinks beaver dam tip-ups are the best. Solid clunky wood monsters that are the same as they were 25 years ago except now they cost $55 instead of $20. Ice fishing for 40 years and never once have I seen a beaver dam tip-up catch more fish than any other tip-up. Don't forget to thread the giant metal line guide before you put on your hook...lmao. Make sure to bring hole covers and pack that hole so it doesn't ice up too. When its so cold you don't even feel like running for the flag much less pulling the tip-up out and putting it away beaver dam tip-ups are for nubs.
@DairylandLegends2 жыл бұрын
What do you recommend then? Is there a better spool out there than the beaver dams? Is Frabill better? What’s better?
@jeffbarber54122 жыл бұрын
Beaver dam is the benchmark that all others are compared to for a reason........ But I run the frabill arctic fire tip ups, the spools are almost if not just as smooth
