That is so beautiful, so are you. And your giggle is contagious! I use a drill for thicker wire, and a dremel for thinner wire like you used. Wire around a nail in the wall, or a cup hook or door knob. Blessings you guys❣️🙏🏼

My late husband made me a hand tool for twisting wire (for my gem trees) clear back when we first started our business.....about 30 years ago now....I STILL have that one tool......I do however need another tool for heavier gauge wire so this might be the answer....HE did wire wrap jewelry (I do it now since his passing) and used what he called a "whirly gig"....lol.........with a vice grip attached to the table.....I might try both ways to see which is best for me and my dang crippled hands/wrists......TY Von!!!! : ) I truly enjoy watching your videos!!!

hello thnx for the tip ... i do lots of DIY and also love vaping and so i found that a drill would do the job easy as we vapers do lots of wire coils to use em on our vaping machines and way thought to pass by and show some love ... keep glowing and be the best as you are

I haven't don't much with twisted wire yet, but now I've got ideas bumping around in my head. I prefer to do things by hand, so this is a perfect way for me rather than using a drill - it will give me the control I'm looking for. Now I just have to go through my old CDs and find one willing to make the sacrifice for creativity's sake.

gonna have to test this out, might be easier than the way i've been doing it. i've literally been tying the wire to my door handle, attaching the other end to a pencil, and sit spinning the pencil until it's twisted enough lol. it's oddly relaxing! thanks for sharing yvonne x

Beautiful Yvonne, I'm a huge fan of your channel. I have one small suggestion for your future videos like this: First show us the tool in action and what the wire looks like when you're done twisting. As you instructed I had NO idea what you were getting at and it was hard for me to figure out what was going on, but had you shown the thing in action first it would have helped me a lot. Thanks so much for all you're doing for we Wackie crafters!

Another way of doing it is using a eye screw from a hook and eye set, a dowel rod and a power screwdriver. I've done it that way before and it came out really well.

Over 40 years ago when I first took up silversmithing, I bought one of those hand crank drills. Took a #8 finishing nail and bent it into a hook. Tightened the nail into the chuck and there was my wire wrapping tool. I still have that thing, although I have replaced the nail a few times. (it sometimes got lost)

I like how this twisted wire can be done with different types of wire twisted together. The different colors together are nice together (as opposed to all copper or all silver, which can be nice on their own as well).

Cool idea! How tight can you get the twist with the CD before it has issues? Would doubling the CD get a stronger twist? I bet you could make a jig out of wood or metal...yep...creative juices flowin all right!

Take a 3" long bolt, two washers and a nut. Put one washer on the bolt. Put the bolt through the center hole of the CD. Place the other washer on the bolt. Finger tighten the nut onto the bolt making sure that the CD is centered with the washers. Now insert the bolt into a power drill. Variable speed wire twisting :)

The equipment distance helps keep balance, I thought, perhaps, you were showing how to twist a single heavier gauge wire. Like a twisted 18g square stock wire. Ha! Totally takes me back to my childhood when I would spin on the swing until the chain could take no more. Then weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! This twisted wire is pretty. Plenty of color and the silver kind of makes it all pop....might be nice braided too. I'm not a fan of the nesty rose, but I do like the twisted wire as a band.

How did you put the holes in the CD without breaking it? Did you drill it or poke something hot through it? It looked kinda melted.
@GrooveYouVerse
@GrooveYouVerse 3 жыл бұрын
Instead of twist-tying the wires to the CD, use maybe clamping fishing line counter weights? So like, 1. feed the wire through the hole 2. on the other end, clamp with a fishing weight using your pliers. 3. Once you're done, you can unclamp (spread open) the fishing counter weight or just cut it. 4. You save your wire 5. Less waste 6. You're happier! 7. ??? 8. PROFIT!!

Those flush cutters should only be used with copper based wire ... Steel wire gonna put notches in the edges ... Love pocket doors ... Have you tried putting the wire holes near the center of the disk ??? ... You can still put two weight wire holes on the outer edge ...

Sorry.. although I applaud your creatively i'm not a fan of the jig & process. I twist multiple Gage's of wire (both round & square) as well as multiple strands; l simply put one end in a vise & other end in any drill , dremel.. or even vise grip. It's much faster and even; the most important tip is to keep taut & on drill go slow.
