Best Topwater Lure EVER? Jackall Pompadour Review!

Can confirm this is one of the best topwaters. I’ve caught big Murray Cod at home in Australia and consistent 4+lb largemouth and smallmouth where I live now in North America. Crazy good lure, they’ve just not heard anything like it before.

I bought this thinking it looked cool but I never really fished it. I’ve used it twice, both in tournaments. Both times I caught a fish over 4 and a half pounds on it. Unreal lure

I fished these. I have the jr and the mid size. So far have been unable to get my hands on the mega. I have caught a few on the jr. I have also lost a few due to the cheap hooks straightening out. Can't believe the quality of the hooks that come on a lure that is $25 or more. I have since upgraded those. I also throw this on braid. Really rarely ever an issue. Sometimes it does get wrapped around the front hook. But, that only happens with well worn, limp braid. When braid is newer it is stiffer, and that doesn't happen. I fish the Zman Hellraizer much more than I throw these. It seems to attract many more hits. Don't know if you have ever tried that lure, but it too is obnoxious. If you haven't tried it, give it a go.

Man...I found mine last week at the river! Never even heard of them. Started researching. I just came back from my pond just to see how it acts! Missed 5...caught 1. They chased this joker to the bank trying to get it! If it works 50% as good as it did today...its a banger!! I'd still be down there...but storm has set in. I'm soaked and had to leave!! Better than a plopper if you ask me!

In Australia we have Cicada lures and I believe thats what jackal are going for with that!

Love the pomp but prefer the jr in black bone and chartreuse Gill. I throw them with braid but haven’t had any issues. Smart move changing out the hooks. I had either a state record bass or big channel cat come up and grab it and broke the back treble off. Like the content man and just subscribed.

Gonna start casting off baits using straight fluorocarbon. Braid to heavy mono leader is best.

Never an issue with 30lb braid, I would never throw a topwater with fluorocarbon with sinks and fucks up the action of any topwater lure. To each his own, I’m a topwater fanatic may through November I’m throwing topwater

If you are into JdM, you should try Raid Japan Dodge or Imakatsu Avante. They are known to be the best Crawler bait in Japan bass fishing circle.

Nick Firkus I-loud is another great smallie topwater. I’ve found this has completely out produced the plopped for me, I rarely have a plopped tied on anymore because of it.

Do you have any idea how to change out that back treble hook since it doesn't have a split ring? I wanna change my hooks out but saw that rear one thought I'd ask before I tore it up trying lol.

+lmb_ toad_catcher hey man. Yeah I just take some wire cutters and cut the loop of the hook to remove it. Then I put on a spilt ring to the connection ring of the bait then add whatever hook you want. Just don’t cut that connection ring of the pompadour or you’re toast haha. Great question man!
