The vastness of india and the vastness of its population. Despite that he was able to find his mother despite the odds against him. That is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I cry every time, especially when they mention Guddu ;-; makes me wish I had a better bond with my younger brother, who hates me more than he loves me. I try every day to show him how much I love him, hugging him, kissing him, but every hug ends with me being pushed away, every kiss wiped off of his cheek. Sometimes I'll hate him back, with all of his name calling, and the pain he's caused, but that doesn't ever change how I feel about him in the long run. And when we do have moments of connection, it's like there's nothing else in the world. Oh, brothers.

What I find strange and curious is that his mother reportedly stayed in the village all these years and did not move from the location because she "knew" that her son would come back some day .

L Martinez why would she leave if she knew that's the last place her son knew she was ?? If she moved there would have been 0 chance of him finding her
@obscurelyvague6 жыл бұрын
Her young son essentially disappeared without there being any clue as to where he could have gone. In the movie it is said that "Lion's" older brother died when he got hit by a train (or that is what I best recall). I am not sure if that is why the older brother never returned to pick up "Lion" from the train station, or maybe the older brother died weeks or months after "Lion" disappeared. It is true that Lion's mother might have stayed in the same location because it would make it easier for her son to find her someday, but it is still amazing that nothing happened that she had to move, such as the village being flooded and people have to migrate out of it, or maybe the mother got very sick and had to be taken to a village that is nearer to a hospital and even though it is a primitive and poor village in which any major renovations or changes ( the construction of buildings and roads) are not likely to happen for decades because the location is remote and there is nothing much for anyone to want to travel there, it is just lucky that the village stayed mainly the same as when Lion was a boy so that he could come back and remember where he had been as a child.
@juliz25006 жыл бұрын
Well yes and Saroo says in his book that this was all she could do, since she couldn't read or write, didn't have any photos of him and so couldn't report him as missing. While he was using Google Earth and obsessively looking for his place of birth for six years, his mother relied on her faith and stayed where he could find her. I cried reading this, it's so touching and powerful.

Here's why Hollywood sucks: This was a phenomenal motion picture that deserved greater recognition at the Oscars. However the blowhards had to give best picture to a movie about a gay black kid. Next year it will be a gay black girl with one leg and a speech impediment. Hollywood has lost its way. It's being so politically correct and agenda driven, it's cutting its own throat. The public has had enough of that stupidity. Lion was the true Best Picture of the Year. Thank you Australia for a quality film that Hollywood doesn't have the class to make. You're welcome. .

I kept waiting for the scene where Saru will get to hug his elder brother in the end. But knowing that he died was heart wrenching.
