I have watched a handful reviews on his product and I understand they work decent for a person to person conversation when you’re both wearing earbuds. What I want to know is can I have one earbud in, have the foreign language set appropriately, walk into a shop and when that shop owner starts to talk to me will it translate in my ear?

No, you'd need the smart phone & app to do the listening with the wt2. Or give the shopkeeper an earbud. Which I think is fine bc if you're the only one who can understand the other, then all you can do is nod yes or no. Putting the phone/app in front of them would allow them to understand you as well.

At the very least, the phone needs to be out because it works as the microphone for the other person. I think that more directly answers the question. Please lmk if it doesn't.

Thanks for a very informative video. But I wonder (and please tell me if I am wrong) if you have missed stressing the importance of the one feature of the WT2/edge that is unique to this device. That feature is the ability when using the device in Speaker Mode to do simultanous translations without needing to have another person wear an earbud or for any need for button pushing.

Do you have a recommended device for listen mode? A lot of the time I just want to chill and listen to what my wife's family is talking about and if I have something to add I can tap in through her. It's kind of an odd set up but I basically want real time meeting notes being transcribed and translated 🤔

That’s more important than being able to communicate? 😂 You can use them to translate one way, but with multiple people speaking quickly, I couldn’t imagine you’ll pick up on all that much. He said that they’re not good for foreign TV shows, which would be similar to eavesdropping on a conversation.

What earbud recommendations would you make for my current situation. I have a friend in another country and they only speak and understand spanish i only speak and understand English although i can understand and read some spanish but not enough ro have a conversation. We are both trying to learn each others languages in the meantime we can only use Google translate. This means we can only text, we'd love to have video chats and even send simple voice notes to each other. Are there a set of buds that we can both wear? Meaning i have my own they have their own so we could understand each other over video chats and even phone calls where we can keep each other on speaker phone so the buds can hear what we are saying to each other? Google translator is my best buddy. Along with a translator app from the play store that works wonders and does the dual conversation as well. It even saves the conversation you had with the person. I'll stick to that, it's free lol

What’s the best translators? I was invited to a Burmese wedding.. where they speak Hakha and zophei primarily.. what’s the best device for this. Where it will listen and translate into English.. where I don’t have to press start and stop but just listens and translates?

Maybe alphabet frequency mapping between language is easier but for figurative language like chinese or india is harder unless we map frequence of basic words. After mapping the alphabet then for the person use it can be personalized by training the voice recognition for the machine so the speaker speak alphabets then words so the machine shift tone of speech to text for machine recognize then it convert to other language text then conversion convert from text to speech

Be sure to try the existing FREE Google translate with just your Android phone and with your ear buds first. it maybe all you need.

I have heaps where for long sentences it's very bad. It's annoying talking to my girlfriend all the time where we have to press the button on our phone and speak all the time. This is why I purchased this product and currently waiting for it.
