Great insight thanks Steve. I’ve got it or had for a long time now in my left foot. I put my therapy massage gun in the arch and heal for as long as I can bare and it gives me relief for a minute or so. Hope you’re all well and good and enjoying your Christmas. Take Care, ❤️❤️👍👍

Hi, and great question! I use zinc oxide taping, but I don't have much experience with these other treatments. I can see there are some recent studies showing some benefits of Graston and kinesiology taping for PF but the literature seems thin? Do you provide any of these treatments, and if so, how do you find them? I would be excited to learn of any new treatments that could make it into my top 4 for PF! Thanks again for the good question!

Hi can you help? I've had heel pain for almost 2 years which is not improving. I have tried ice rest stretches heel inserts naproxen etc etc I've had 3 different diagnosis the latest after a 2 hour mri is that it is planter the other diagnosis both said it was my high arch and gait I'm 60 and have had no issues throughout my life with foot pain.its now ruining my life as I don't know who to believe !! I am soon to be booked in for shock therapy 3 sessions. The pain is in both heels and by early afternoon if I've walked a few thousand steps I'm virtually unable to put any weight on my feet at all.😮

Hi! Sorry to hear about the problem. MRI is very sensitive, so it usually helps with a diagnosis. It sounds like in your case you finally have an accurate diagnosis which is a good start. Shockwave is one of the best treatments for this condition, so I would expect it to help. Consider combining this treatment with orthotics (custom insoles). Hope you're feeling better soon!

Hi, im facing extreme pain (mostly when i go to bed to sleep) for the last 15 days in both my feet and legs, the pain is mostly 80% on the sole of the foot starting in the smaller finger and ending in the heel and 20% starting below the calf going to the foot. Initially i thought it was cold feet but nothing worked, not sock, blankets, nothing. Today i think or feel that is a nerve or a tendon, its like a burning sensation. At the beggining the doctors thought several things like thyroid and they did a lot of test, everything its normal. Im starting to think its plantar fascitis, it started 15 days ago when I did a huge effort for 15 continuous days (a work situation), the pain started 1 hour after I woke up but I did had to work for 12 more hours, more than 20.000 steps more daily after the pain starts, I did this crazy effort for 15 days. Can you give me and advice? Help me to figure it out what can it be? How to solve it?

What is the best treatment when your plantar fasciitis is caused by an autoimmune disease. I have suffered from Plantar fasciitis for 2 years now. I have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and have been told it’s causing inflammation in my plantar fascia. I have been doing physio, had two sets of steroid injections, been prescribed methotrexate and now I am on a biological. My pain is still chronic.
@thelondonpodiatrist
@thelondonpodiatrist Жыл бұрын
Hi Darragh, a combination approach would be a good strategy. Get the psoriatic arthritis under control as much as possible, and then target the plantar fascia from multiple approaches as I discuss in the video. As it's chronic, imaging to confirm the diagnosis and then treat it from different approaches - reducing the load, the symptoms and promoting healing. Good luck with it, and thanks for messaging!

@@thelondonpodiatrist thank you for your response. It’s unusual on KZbin. I really appreciate it. Do you know if PRP injection will work if I am on autoimmune meds. It’s very difficult to get a straight answer. I was told the electro shockwave therapy won’t work. Pain is at ridiculous levels. Thank you again.
@thelondonpodiatrist
@thelondonpodiatrist Жыл бұрын
@Darragh Kane PRP may help. It's a relatively new treatment, and some studies show it may be better than steroid. In my practice, I find it works best with tears. I would get some imaging for a definitive diagnosis, and if it is the fascia, you can see the thickness and if there are any tears. You can then tailor treatments. Best of luck with it!

No study, I know, linked to the tip, you’re probably better at navigating the journals. But, personally I get relief, I recently developed a case. I get relief instantly with these stretches, just now resting enough to practice it enough to maybe take it away forever. I’ll let you know, and gotta be on it fr. But I believe it’ll help immensely. Stretching the opposite muscles, gives those inflamed tendons and muscles a much needed break. And not cramping your big toe inward, letting it be spread away from the foot kinda provides relief too.

Why would I bend my foot and toes backwards to stretch the fascia since the pain is caused from a stretched and/or partially torn fascia? I bend my toes forward and downward and inward to relieve the pain. I walk in shoes without arch supports for I cut them out so as to not rub and support the fascia and to mimic walking barefoot on a flat and smooth tiled surface. I walk barefoot as soon as I get home. My walking is easier and the pain is slowly going away!
@thelondonpodiatrist
@thelondonpodiatrist 2 ай бұрын
Hi, bending the foot up, stretches calf muscles, and toes back stretches the fascia. People with plantar fasciitis report it feeling tight. The stretch is gentle on the fascia in comparison to body weight load. Flat hard surfaces are usually worse for this condition. I'm glad yours is improving. 🙌
