12:01 you can simply oxidize aldehyde to get carboxylic acid . If you treat with tollen's reagent then it gives ammonium salt of carboxylic acid not carboxylic acid because 1st step it forms carboxylic acid then it reacts with ammonia of tollen's reagent then forms ammonium salt. But fehling solution can also be used to convert aldehyde to carboxylic
