Does white dove and simply white fall under the top category? Trying to figure out what actual colors that would be

QUESTION: what are some paint color examples of the “S Tier” soft white? 🧐 🤔

I’m using Dovewing for trim… I like off whites over stark whites…. Walls are colors like Edgecomb gray ( l r, dr)Florentine plaster ( entry) and possibly Muslin ( sun room) the kitchen has angel wing on the walls. All the rooms are open to each other or with French doors between so having the trim all the same white takes one from one room to the next to the next… in a blended way… so my downstairs entryway is Florentine plaster on one side is the living room in Edgecomb gray and the dining room is in the other direction. But you see all three rooms when sitting in one… and the trim Is universally connecting the whole downstairs together. The house faces north and basically gets no direct southern light downstairs… So in the winter, we have weeks of little sunlight …

I painted the trim in my sons bedroom red when he was young and his room had a baseball theme. It looked really great, but he outgrew it eventually and I'd never do it in any other room.

How about having the trim the same color as the wall? Is it still popular? I'm looking forward to seeing your response. Thanks!

It can still be a good choice! I tend to experiment with that option when the walls are a bit darker for a more seamless look!

I agree; Chantilly Lace Matte on the walls and Chantilly Lace Semi Gloss on trim brings a uniformity, a cohesiveness from floor to ceiling; go to the Guggenheim Museum (yes I know who wants to live in a museum right) and you will see. The walls that have one color and trim another always look like they are wearing a hat. Go to Architectural Digest and there you will see, no matter what color is on the wall, the same color is on the trim but in gloss; why? Because it is unifying; ignore the haters and DIY’s who are always looking at what’s trending. Go into any of the great castles or homes in Europe even those that are hundreds of years old they have the same concept; same with museums there too; it’s classic meaning it withstands the tests of time. They were not watching HGTV to tell them what is beautiful nor were they waiting to see Color of the Year 2025 so as to avoid being told regarding the color they have now, oh that’s so 2021!

What best white would you suggest for trim from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore?

@@thepaintpeopleIs BM Super White the paint you’re referring to as your fav trim color? You say “Soft Stark White” but maybe that’s just the description of Super White? Trying to figure out trim paints and I’m stuck!

Are we still painting all the trim in the home the same color? Also, what about the interior door jams/trim? I have white trim, but black doors. I am torn if I should paint the door trim black to match the doors!

Best trim for me is BM’s Oxford White!

I really like wide wood trim. I think species and the age of the house matter though. The wide Victorian or craftsman bungalows have original trim that’s could be very valuable species that can’t be gotten any more. Chestnut or mahogany. I’ve stripped lots of layers of paint off big and ornate trim and it looks really lovely. But to each his own and this is, after all, a channel about paint and not woodworking. I love the green leaning love of the paint people!

We have wide wood trim in our Georgian Colonial revival. I wish we could paint it! It’s everywhere!
