The döner kebab was in fact invented by a turkish Gentleman in Germany. After the second world war it was a fast, healthy and absolutely delicious way of getting calories into clean up workers. It stayed and spread throughout Germany with the best one being Antalya Döner, Neustadt-Böbig.

Kebab is mince mixed with vegetables, which originates from places like Adana/Gaziantep in Turkey who originally make them very spicy compared to the Berlin food. There are many pictures from 1900/1910 Istanbul where there are döner/kebab shops before the big immigration to Germany

I live in Berlin and I can confirm that this is very likely true. You basically don't ever have to travel farther than 10 minutes for a kebab shop ever. Usually, when we try to find one but don't know any nearby shops because we don't know the area very well, we just say "well... let's just walk and we'll find one. they exist at basically every corner". in the more central areas of berlin there are definitely way more than 4 kebab shops per square km
