Lost Cities! It’s the best 2 player game ever. We take it on cruises, play in airports, coffee shops, home, wherever. It’s competitive, but in a great way

The Fox in the Forest is a trick-taking game for 2 players. It's my favorite trick-taking game of all time, because the tension of trying to shoot the moon or worrying that your opponent will shoot the moon in hearts is present every single round (you get more points for winning more tricks, unless you get greedy, then your opponent gets the max value for the round). There are only three suits, and half the cards have special abilities, but they're the same across suits, so it's really easy to understand what possibilities you might have to face. It's the best. There's also the "duet" version, which is cooperative, but I've not played it yet.

We enjoy Skip-Bo (requires purchasing a Skip-Bo deck of cards)! Great game for two on a rainy day!

Thank you so much for the suggestion! We have never played that game and are excited to check it out 😊

You can easily play with a regular deck of cards or two. :) We open with Kings and end with Queens.

My roommate would always beat me at Hive, so we house-ruled a handicap system. He would keep his pieces face down until played, so he never knew what he was bringing out next. If I had started beating him regularly that way (I still couldn't), we were gonna ease up, first by letting him see the next tile, then more and more future tiles, until he knew the order of all of them, then we'd open it up to letting him choose between the next two, three, etc..

Bananagrams reminds me of the way my parents play Quick Scrabble -- the tiles alone and creating crosswords in front of yourself.

I love Rumi Cube. It's a bunch of tiles and a couple of stands. It would easily fit into a Ziploc bag. But you need space to play the actual game. Definitely a tabletop.

Never heard of it! Thank you so much for the suggestion, we really appreciate it! Now we have a new game we have to buy to be overly competitive with each other 😃

You can also play with a deck of cards (suits instead of colors and jokers for wilds). Takes up less space, too.

Board game nerd here. Some ideas are: Trailblazers (Bitewing Games) Botanik Chicken A “big box” game would be Land vs Sea 😂 Silver (amulet, bullet, coin or dagger, but can be boxed together in one). Of course button shy games And oink game And Itten games (basically Asian game companies) With your deck of cards you can play regicide. There is a score sheet on BGG you can print and laminate for it. Print and plays on a tablet

Huge regicide fan! It’s great that you can play solo or co-op as well and only needs a deck of cards. Once you learn the rules, the scoring sheet is more of a nice to have than need to have. I also see Lost Cities was mentioned somewhere, and would recommend it as well. Two small-box games I really enjoy but haven’t seen listed are Kuzushi and The Game. Kuzushi is an abstract area control game, but doesn’t require a lot of table space to play. The box (2-player version) is about half the size of a standard smart phone. If you like Othello, you’ll enjoy Kuzushi. It’s not as deep as othello, but it is easily pocketable which is worth it imo. The Game is a cooperative solitaire style game. Working together to put cards in numerical order, without talking about what each of you have. It plays 1-4 people very well. There are a couple of printings with wildly different card art, so don’t be thrown off by that. Thanks for the video and talking about some common games that aren’t given much attention!

I really enjoy your videos. I'm interested in van life and travel vlogs. My wife and I used to watch Kara and Nate; truth be known she still does but I can't stand them anymore. The are so much about their luxury accommodations and first-class flights anymore that I can't stand how pretentious they are if I knew how to unsubscribe from them I would, speaking of which I have subscribed to yall's channel. I even watch the ads all the way thru thinking it may help your ad revenue not to ship the ads. Anyway, love you kids. Keep up the good work. Stay relatable..

Othello looks so fun and easy! We LOVE small 2 person games, it is a slight obsession to find new ones. One we always take with us is Cockroach salade, it is easy, quick and takes no space, plus you’ll have a laugh! Patchwork is one we also always take with us. It needs some table space, but it is all the fun things of a game combined with cute layout, in a small box.
