Im not going to thrash you about your comment like most people. But I have often felt that most recent horror movies have just been meh and thought to myself...is it me or just the state of the genre. I think it is a mix of both. As we age we change and stuff just isn't scary anymore. That combined with PG-13 is the way to capitalize on sales. MY best advice is steer from stuff like this there are good ones out there they just require some searching. I would recommend some that I have found but I don't know if your tastes align with mine and I would not want to waste your time haha.

@@daytonsouthall1137 It's pretty telling of the quality when a movie gets consistently delayed. Especially when said movie is coming from a low to moderate budget studio. All I'm saying is, they're not pushing it back to improve the quality; this movie was supposed to be done a year and a half ago, I believe. It's being delayed for negative reasons...a lawsuit being the most likely one. Hell, it may even reach the point where it disappears entirely. You can only delay something for so long before you start to hemmorage money. Just my opinion; take from it what you will.

@@shaikfahad1 Thinking of a concept of the horrors in life made into over dramatized sequences. Kind've like Clockwork Orange style sequences but with a sickness like Salo and Serbian Film. Maybe with a gory Grotesque setting and with a tinted setting like Ju On. Trying to think of a plot development for it that doesn't make it one of those generic slashers, also trying to think how those sequences with different meanings can connect like puzzle pieces. I want it scary and disgusting to the long time horror fanatics so these teenagers thinking these movies are scary can run and hide under their beds like the kids they are.

Movies like the Witch and Hereditary take a different approach to the occult/cults. They could at least put forth a little effort to make it stand out, but they know the popcorn munching morons don't want that, they just want more of the same with a different label on it.

What happened to horror? Where is the creativity? 80s was the year of horror. Now trailers show either too much, reveal the entire story or they show the creature so early. Horror is about the story to give chills. Using a trailer to show the entire plot destroys the film. You know what killed gore and special effects? Showing it constantly in the trailer. People get so exposed to it on the daily that it destroys the effect of it. Who they trying to scare? Toddlers? Man, horror has become shit. If you want to build interest in getting people to see a movie show less. Movie posters themselves used to draw people into theatres. This crap does the opposite. Hell, no one even compares to the older directors. Personally I end up rewatching older horror movies. This garbage is not on par at all.

Relentless I def agree with you on some points. As a product of the 80's I can def agree with you. I just rewatched Return of the Living Dead a couple days ago and forgot how much fun that movie was. Also that was 30 years ago we have aged since then and lives have changed we wont find the same stuff scary anymore, i doubt no matter what a horror movie does we wont get spooked cause well we know better. So that will be hard. I do also agree that they show too much in the trailers. PG-13 is the way to maximize profits as well so that also lends itself to the weakness of some movies. I just subbed to Shudder recently it like Netflix but with horror movies. They have some good stuff on there Hell House LLC was pretty cool plus some good ones form the 80's.

Agreed, trailers definitely show too much. Even a sub par plot can be much more enjoyable if you watch it without having seen the trailer first. For me at least, not knowing what direction a film is going to go in is a big part of watching a film. Also I agree with Zach Engel- Hereditary was a film which really kept me guessing and from what I remember the trailer barely gave any idea as to what the film was about other than it was going to unsettling- in fact I think the doll house in the trailer gave me completely the wrong idea as to what it'd be about.

Pet Sematary might be okay, at least it's got a good actor in it, John Lithgow, Isabelle looks formulaic and boring, Pledge and Followed look crap, Polaroid looks like it's in the tradition of the Final Destination series, and Hex looks like a bog standard demon movie in an exotic setting. All in all not a very must view batch.

@@Legendarychrismusic I would not agree. It is just that they do it all in the same way - like they make the scripts with a stencil, and they have completely mixed gore and horror movies. For example, just recently I watched all episodes of the series Haunting of hill house - although it too was ruined at the end. Some clever scenario, jumps trough the story, some quite nice atmosphere, loved the idea of one ghost being the character itself in the future, if they played a bit with that... it could have been great. Also look at the zygote monster, and that short video - actually all from those makers, that was epic! We just need more creative people on the high budget side, we need studios taking a risk and being able to recognized talent. And at the end, show some real stuff, no more being politically correct. Now we watch old movies and think "this would never been approved now" and that is killing the US film industry. We need to dig in to sensitive matters and show stories so real that we are uneasy when we watch the movies, and I am not talking about making gore films more realistic, but horror movies, more hard to get trough emotionally.

@Isabella Jones one of the scariest movies I've ever seen in my life was a movie that was not meant to be horror at all. It is a movie called "Variola vera" which is a more or less accurate depiction of true events happening in Yugoslavia, when one person brought in the disease. First time I watched this movie as a kid I was frozen in fear, I am talking not being able to sleep for days. I watched it again as an adult and guess what, I was again mortified! Now, having more interest in how the movie was made, I analyzed it a bit. I then started noticing little things that I never noticed before, I also asked my brother, who is older, did he ever noticed them before in the movie. He was completely surprised, he did nover noticed them either. For example, in the intro music, which is very creepy, as time goes, you can hear other sounds, muffled but audible if you concentrate, you hear a man voice moaning in pain, a child crying, a metal door opening and closing... Movie is full of these, hidden and almost subliminal things, thing you just catch by the corner of your eye or you are not sure did you hear something... This build up to an extreme atmosphere that just freaks out the reptilian part of your brain. So.. good horror movies are about fine tuned details, not just placed in your face but hidden and smart. I wish movies are made like that again.

here is a short horror for you guys and girls: this is the memorable part from my dream I had 2 days ago. Cafeteria. I took a heavy meal set and sat at a table, there were not many customers at that time period. Some customers were enjoying their orders at the 3rd table from mine. I was in front of the cafeteria TV which was showing a rerun / a new song. I watched the music video, the girl that was singing in the mv was quite pretty. It neared the end of the music video when the girl in the mv showed the whites of her eyes and started singing/ screaming a high pitch note. It continued for quite a while. It was okay for the first moments, but then it started to feel creepy as it continued for what seemed like an eternity. The MV finally ended and I could get back to my meal. I suddenly remembered that there was white lump that was under the french fries when I got the meal. I thought it was something like a surprise gift and so shelves aside the french fries. The lump rolled down, it was a head, a doll head. Suddenly, limbs started to roll down as well; all doll limbs. The limbs were not small though, or to be exact, they enlarged as they rolled and submerged me. I seem to be dragged into a closed space like under water. I tried to break free, but something was pulling me from behind. I tried to shout, but there was no voice coming out........

i love horror.... and i love movies, animes, tv series.... basically i love watching.... but i dont care if its the same cliche storyline.... all of them are the same in more than one way.... but the most exciting part is figuring out that small but important plot that they tried to be different... just because you love something doesnt make you a good critic... especially, if you havent done it yourself....
