The true number one would be utilizing it as a vehicle dropship. I mean. Only a herc can carry larger ground vehicles such as the ballista. If this thing can tow those to a dropzone, this is a pretty OP ship then.

The SRV has no guns, or enhanced sensor suites so, it is limited to safe space meaning #5 exploration is out. By the same token, keep it off the battlefield until the enemy is defeated or routed unless you want to lose your bright orange target tug. The SRV is just a recovery vehicle, not fit for any combat risks. It also lacks countermeasures so #4 is out. At the moment, towing large and capital soft death ships is out as they disappear when exiting quantum. It has its uses and in pairs may yet prove to be good for piracy and salvage but for now, it is a simple recovery ship for vehicles and small ships in gravity and medium ships in space.

Yeah I do wish she just at least had a pair of size 1's. Earlier today I decided to do a missing persons job while I was out and when I got to the location 2 hostile NPC ships were there. I had to lose the mission cause I couldn't do anything else.

I definitely think it can do more gameplay loops than just towing, but isn't as well suited to it as others!

It's pretty nice for catching ships falling to the ground if you got a good enough pilot. Also comes in clutch when selling cuz you can move abandoned ships. I think the biggest problem is there isn't a good legal system for towing atm. Its probably gonna be a good long while too...

To be fair, its kinda like one of those construction pods from Guardians of the Galaxy: i got attacked by a nine tails cutty black in mine, so i just full speed rammed him and threw him into the ground, then rammed him again, didnt even scratch the SRV

I imagine that at some point there will be a pirate group with a Cutlass Blue to disable a ship, an SRV to keep holding it in place and to top it all off - a Vulture to disassemble the captured ship while it’s still held hostage, lmao I’d love to see the look on that ship’s crew faces while their ship is being stripped apart with them still in it and not able to do a single thing about it 😂😂

Yea, i think you reached for the moon on this one, lol, it won't be exploring, or in a combat zone.... this ship wants to be where the people are, where assistance is likely to be needed, or as part of fleet acting as support, nothing fancy, just an essential workhorse.

Sadly the SRV is kinda useless for piracy as it cant lift a C2 in Atmo. So really its only good for towing a ship away if its already in space. If you were going to use the SRV it would be to tow a ship away from a hot zone like Brios ,Jumptown , Rappel. Leading a pirate org i'm passing over small ships anyway, better to wait for a bigger target then waste resources and time on a small payout. Better to use distortions, shut down the target, board and just fly the ship away.

It'll definitely depend on the size of the score and investment of the pirates! Although I could see the SRV being awesome in a support role either way!

SRV would have been amazing if they had even given it crappy weapons.... its stupid that it has none. Just makes no sense. CIG literally told us any ship designed for long ranges WILL have weapons, and then they release the SRV... without weapons.
