I don't understand the relatively high ratio of dislikes on this video. The information is presented quite professionally. One can dislike the watches presented without giving negative feedback. Keep up the good work.

Just viewed both videos (Parts I and II). Thanks for a terrific primer on underrated, lesser-known watch brands and their products. I've long been a fan of Glasshütte and have only recently heard of Sinn. Had NEVER heard of Hanhart! Awesome, stuff, thanks.

Hiya Armand and many thanks for what is an excellent post. I find these particular videos where you keep us all up to date with the latest in price drops not just informative but very helpful indeed. Some truly excellent value pieces there and much food for thought. Hope you have a peaceful, relaxing and happy Sunday. Take care bye for now.

+Peter Lorimer: Thank you once more for a kind and interesting comment. I must also tell you that I am eternally grateful for your kind observation of my editing mistake. I felt that this video was appropriate considering the many price changes which have been implemented recently.

You are more than welcome Armand. In my experience, garnered over more or less all the time you've been you've been posting watch centred videos on KZbin, it's very unusual indeed for you to make errors. Therefore the couple of minor editing deficiencies I noticed earlier stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. At the risk of appearing pedantic, I felt duty bound to bring these to your notice and the fact that you've now put the matter right so promptly and succinctly reflects your professionalism. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Thank you very much once again for yet another informative and excellent post. Take care bye for now.

As an American, I sometimes have difficulty with your British inflections and colloquialisms. However, the ideas and insights presented have increased my intelligence about watch making and design overall. You do this with a style that is uniquely your own and I would ignore the trolls in favor of remaining true to yourself.

Excellent video again. Really love Chr.Ward makes a 38mm version. Really wished they didn't leave out the 2, 4 and 6 on the bezel of the GMT however. Further I think there should be at least one Sinn on this second part list as well. For example the current entry price for a 556 is 890 EUR i.e. 778 GBP on this moment; the 104 starts at 1050 EUR i.e. 917 GBP and the 356 starts at 1550 EUR which is 1354 GBP on this moment. All prices directly from Sinn. Kind regards from Amsterdam again

Can't go wrong with the old logo C. Ward right now at the reduced prices. I own the 38 black dial GMT with maroon bezel. My feeling is the supply will dry up as they roll out the new branding as my Trident is no longer available on the website. Hopefully the new version is just as nice.

I just can't agree with the Christopher Ward being an original design, it's a homage to everything. They've picked some bits here and there from Rolex and Omega and made a dive watch that in my opinion doesn't look original in any way. Also it kind of sucks that they use either a Sellita or an ETA and don't tell you which, it, seems to me they use whatever they get the best deal on and don't really care more than that. But then I've heard nothing but good things about their fit&finish as well as build quality. And both Sellita and ETA's movements are great so I can't complain there. And for 400£ it is a good deal
@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+William: Thank you for your very interesting words about the Christopher Ward. I think that my choice of words was perhaps ill chosen as their design does take inspiration from others. However, what I do like is that it isn't a direct hommage to a single watch but rather a celebration of what is loved in a dive watch. Thank you for the interesting thoughts.
@neilchapman51457 жыл бұрын
William the Christopher wards are very well built but unfortunately I agree with you totally about the styling robbing from everyone. On its own merits it's a high quality piece but unoriginal in it's design, the seconds hands is cool though

Great Video Love the Hanhart on the leather straps.. Dont care for the bracelet models, and the black dial loses the pilot's character the hollow arabic numerals give. Chris Ward is a fantastic watch, all the more desirable now that the price has gone down. Love their sweeping hand with Poseidon's trident and the casebacks. Proly one of the best homages to the Rolex Sub out there. The Seikos speak for themselves at this point.. Not a fan of Nomos or that styling.

I think is great that you put a list below the video of the watches mentioned in it. I also have a question. Where the "Snow Flake" element comes in the Grand Seiko Spring Drive? I did some research and what I found is that the SF is a term connected with the square hour markers and diamond hour hand in the Tudor Submariner. Characteristic not found in the Grand Seiko. So what does "Snow Flake" means in the Seiko context?
@peterlorimer35527 жыл бұрын
chato fernadez Hello I hope all is good with you. The "Snowflake" element you speak of in the case of The Seiko Snowflake comes from the wonderfully textured white dial. The inspiration being found from the falling snow and the mountain peaks in Japan from where the piece is purported to eminate from. I hope you find this of some help to you. Enjoy your day bye.

Peter thank you very much! I researched this point for a while and I just couldn't find the answer. Thank you for taking the time to let me know...

Many thanks for your reply. You are very welcome. The Seiko Snowflake is, by anyones standard, an exceptionally well finished and quite beautiful watch. A piece that has been on my own personally radar (so to speak) eversince I became aware of it a couple of years ago. Therefore your interest in the watch comes as no surprise whatsoever. Enjoy your day bye bye.

The Christopher Ward sale (up to 50%) going on right now do seem to offer quite a lot of value for what you pay, especially when you consider their "inhouse" movements. However, as they are quite a young brand I can't help to feel that you are taking a bit of a risk.

Excellent videos, thanks for your efforts!! On a separate note though, would really appreciate your opinion on Alpina watches as I'm looking to spend about £1000 and it would be great if I could make an informed decision between Alpina and most likely Oris! Cheers
@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+Joseph Alliss: Thank you for yours kind comment. My views are quite different to those of many other channels as I like what Alpina is doing at the moment with their watches as they move away from ETA based movements and towards in-house ones. On the other hand, Oris are also great at this price point. Therefore, I think that you are well off either way with very similar resale values. I hope that this helps with your search.

@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+Lolcopters: Thank you for the observation. To be perfectly honest, I do not know what is going on. I must stress that this is not beneficial for me as video ratings come from likes and dislikes, thus meaning that there is no advantage to me. I hope that the problem will be rectified by KZbin soon.
@blahblah12527 жыл бұрын
Armand, are you now saying this too is a youtube glitch? Because now, I would have to call you a liar... The ratings where switched off because the video had a very poor like to dislike ratio. Anyone with the plugin "Tube Buddy" can see you disabled the comments manually... Which is fine, your choice, but acting like its a "glitch" is not only petty but also makes you a liar...
@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+BlahBlah12: I really do apologise for this situation because it is indeed my mistake and my fault. While trying to put the buttons at the end of this video, I suspect that I disabled the ratings. Therefore, I ask your forgiveness for this because my response was indeed incorrect. I will adjust this as soon as I am able to reconnect to KZbin (I am unable to open KZbin online while in the workplace).

@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+GameTime: To be perfectly honest, the reason why I am making this video is because I feel that some of the choices from last year are not particularly relevant when compared to more recent offerings. However, I felt it appropriate to mention the poor quality of my last video simply because I hope that my content has improved. I apologise if my choice of video appears to be an exercise in increasing views.
@Kima19367 жыл бұрын
I for one greatly appreciate that certain topics gets re-used and updated. The current best value of any product type changes with time, and so a video which reflects those changes is more than welcome. Making a video that'll get the content-creator "a ton of views" is hardly something inherently bad. The more interesting topic, the more views (unless it's clickbait, which it obviously isn't).

@ArmandTheWatchGuy7 жыл бұрын
+XCMMMM: I appreciate the feedback, what sorts of things would you advise that I move to?
@peterlorimer35527 жыл бұрын
XCMMMM In comparison with other watch channels of integrity ( TGV and Federico deliberate omissions) and honesty i. e. Simon Crane, Kibble, Bruce Williams, CG et al, many of whom have been posting watch centred videos for a lot longer than Armand. At fast approaching 9000 subscribers in a little over a year in such a niche market along with the amount of views Armands videos regularly receive. I personally don't believe he's doing too badly at all. Yes, of course, there are many other avenues he could wander along, some he's touched on already such as more news from within the industry etc But, given the amount of research that Armand has obviously had to put in to produce the excellent videos that he regularly does. To call him lazy is blatantly untrue and overly harsh. Yes you could argue that the format could be tweeked a tad but then you could say the same about every other KZbin channel. "If it ain't broke why fix it?" enjoy your day goodbye.

+Peter Lorimer: Thank you for your very kind defense and for your kind words about the style of my videos. However, I am going to aim to go through a certain amount of adjustment with regards to my channel and to the videos I produce. In future, I aim to both continue my lists and so on but also provide more direct content discussing various historical watches and their significance. Equally, I aim to improve the quality of videos in terms of the backdrop and reduce the number of umms which are very present in my videos. However, I would very much appreciate and suggestions which anyone would like to offer with regards to the future of the channel. Thank you once more for the kind words.

Good afternoon Armand. Thank you very much for messaging me and your gratitude for my comments to that fellow. Shortly after I messaged (whatever his name is) I took the opportunity to look back over many of the older videos you've posted in the little over a year you've been on KZbin. Of course your initial foray into the world of posting KZbin videos was a tad wanting, but then so is more or less everybody else's . Nothing to be ashamed of at all there. However, over the past year or so your posts have undoubtedly become a great deal more relaxed, refined and polished, to the point now where they're as well made and informative as anything you'll find, within the watch community especially, on KZbin. In addition to casting my eyes over your posts to take in the production levels etc I also noticed the plethora of many and varied angles from which you've approached what is, when alls said and done, a fairly narrow/specialised subject. You've posted videos that have featured reviews, you've posted videos giving advice on buying and from where best to get our watches, you've posted videos detailing your opinion on various related issues with regard horological matters and yes you've posted several lists of watches in various sections and subsections. All, in my humble opinion, have been of interest to a greater or lesser extent. Throughout this past year and the many and varied posts that you've put up on KZbin you've maintained an impeccable level of honesty and integrity. Of these attributes there can be no conjecture, no debate. Not everybody will agree with all of your viewpoints and opinions and occasionally you've made a few errors. However, you are not an automaton you are a human being and of course the occasional hiccup will occur. All but the most belligerent will take this into account. We are all only human after all. As for the news that you've plans in the pipeline to diversify somewhat. Well, as a regular viewer, I welcome this. But one minor note of caution. As I alluded to earlier in my message to the slightly irate (what's his name). You appear to have a pretty good working formula here at present. Despite of or maybe on account of the fact that you've not actually appeared in person on any of your posts you've managed to accumulate almost 9000 subscribers in a little over one year . This a remarkable feat and one which must be the envy of many on KZbin, especially in the watch community . By all means diversify, add alter and experiment but I'd be loathe, if I were you, to radically alter what has, hitherto been a successful formula. Anyway I've babbled on for far too long so I'll say goodbye for now. Again, many thanks for your message, take care bye for now.

Automatic? This is considered to be a quite ancient technology these days IMO. Why don't you even speak of modern watches? Like Atomic, GPS, e.t.c. quartz watches? Have you ever heard of solar-powered watches? Sorry, but the watches you are talking about are using so very ancient technology, it's not even funny, man... I don't even talk about modern smartwatches you have chosen to overlook as well.
