@BigFatCone I'd put an A959 with rebuilt/replaced shocks up against an Associated RC18/Reflex. Before you claim otherwise: I've had an RC18T since they came out in ~2005, I've played with the later belt drive RC18's, and the Reflex is pretty much the same. The cheap chinesium 1/18's absolutely hold their own.
@phateracing5 жыл бұрын
@BigFatCone And I'm saying I've run both of them on the same day. Yeah, they need better shocks, but even "good" 1/18's are twitchy hard to drive fuckers.

I have a couple of Power HD servos , they work well , strong. As for aluminum upgrades , diff housings and braces are definitely a good idea. Suspension arms and chassis plates not so much.
@FullThrottleRC5 жыл бұрын
I ran one of their previous generations of servos in my SMT10 for a while. Worked well but it wasn't the best for the massive Proline tires. Should be enough power for the size of the Notorious tires!, 👍
@Dimomult5 жыл бұрын
I don't think the "home-made" chassis brace is not what caused that diff housing to break. The stock plastic diff housing is really tough it will handle a lot of abuse. The hot racing aluminum housings are definitely stronger and will make the actual differential tougher and harder to strip. I have hot racing towers and diff housing on my Talion. They have taken a lot of abuse and pretty hard direct hits with no problems. Maybe it would be a good idea to get aluminum diff housing, but leave stock shock towers as a weak point to bend first?
@KevinTalbotTV5 жыл бұрын
good idea
@Dimomult5 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind, the hot racing diff housing comes in 2 pieces. If you buy just the main part, you will still have 1/2 a plastic diff housing. GPM make a aluminum diff housing that is more expensive, but it is the whole aluminun housing, but it is designed different from stock. You have to fully remove the housing from the chassis to access the diff.
@worldtech83455 жыл бұрын
I got a power HD servo for my slash but it is even stronger than my arrma one for 50$ Canadian dollars ( It has a value of 70$ Canadian dollars on amazon ) it is almost 3 times stronger than my slash’s origin one for the same price or 20$ more... it is a very good quality/price ratio servi as you said. I saw the servi you bought at a hobby shop but because of the look and the 10% better performances he was 2 times more costing so I took the one I have. Keep up the great work Kev ❤️😄🙂
@drog3435 жыл бұрын
Hot Racing makes a diff housing, but it uses the plastic back piece, and GPM makes one as well (that is entirely alum.). Most people seem to just replace the stock plastic housings from what I've seen (plus they're pretty cheap to keep a few on hand), and not too bad to swap out. I've kept most of my driveline stock, only replacing the center diff cup for an aluminum one, because I run thicker center oil. Also, added the HR motor mount, because I hated how much you had to dig into the thing to change motor / pinion, etc.

Do not get the HR diff case. it will break everything else the way you bash. The stock replacement is only $10. Honestly I have not seen that happen before on the Arrma rigs. You sir made the magic happen! I like your review of the power HD servo. I might try one of those! As far as the wing mount, RPM is the way to go, IMO. It flexes enough to handle bashing, and keep the wing straight. Use RPM on my Kraton, Typhon, and Talion. Great Vid Kev!!

I am not fun of aluminium parts with the reasons you say. But i would change a plastic axle to aluminium or metallic only if the car is to powerfull and brake the plastic axles like a 4s lipo setup and more. Generally the plastic parts keep the car lighter, much cheaper, and can take more abuse in some cases much better than the aluminium parts. For example i would never put aluminium wheels on a fast rc car. Even a Wltoys a959 with aluminum wheels it will bend the aluminium wheels in a crash very easy, but if you have plastic wheels is more possible to brake only a front arm but never the plastic wheel or nothing of these two. But i would put aluminum wheels in a scale truck because they are not made for speed. So Kevin has absolutely right about where is better to put aluminium parts and where not.

I think RichDB runs the hot racing bulk/diff cases and voltage towers. I'm not 100% sure if he runs the T2T brace though. I'm keeping my towers stock, but I run a T2T brace on the top of the tower. The towers are cheap and they bend out where the shocks are, I just bend the back until they crack, then replace them with stock again.
