I have the old bucket with toilet seat and use bags. Cat litter is expensive, heavy and not always good at covering smell. I like pine bedding. Also, I have found if you don't use enough material moisture builds up and your lid will be damp. Wipe that lid before you use! Another tip if you are limited on space...box tissues are easier to store and use than a roll.

We use the 5 gallon bucket with padded seat for emergencies only. Other than that use, we bought a canvas tool belt and strapped it around the bucket. We fill it with our fishing gear and pop on a padded 5 gallon swivel lid,…….easily carry everything for fishing. Multipurpose bucket👍👍👍

This was a great informative video. Myself, I tried the porta potty for everything and did not like it. Currently I use the Luggable Loo bucket and lid that I picked up on sale at Dick's sporting goods and I love it. I use it with bags and horse pellets that I get at Tractor Supply. I have used it for a little over a year now and it is working out perfectly. It's really good to see other people's options. This was a great idea for a video. 👍🙂

Yes., the luggable loo gets a great wrap everywhere - one great hint is to save you cleaning the toilet seat often is you place the plastic bag on top of the toilet seat instead of under it. And use horse pellets as you say, pot pouri and a green liquid I can't think of right now.

Liked hearing everyone's preferences. 😁 My only concern was hearing so many say they just dump their pee on the ground and leaving tp in the cat hole. Going pee here and there behind a bush may be ok, but dumping a jar of pee.....well, this why so many places stink of urine. TP should NEVER be left behind, even in a cathole. It takes too long to breakdown, and gets dug up and strewn around. The coffee grounds tip was a good one! 😁👍👍

Thank you for your time in making this video- nice to see lots of options. After watching your earlier video about the horse bedding pellets we bought some and they work GREAT! We just got back from 14 days camping and we decided we don’t want to use our black tank in our RV so I just line the toilet with bags and use the pellets and was very pleased about how easy it was and no smell or trouble. We also bought a bucket with a screw on lid so if we aren’t able to dispose of bags in a timely manner we have a secure place to put them to minimize smell and risk of leakage until we reach a suitable trash can.

We use a portable camp potty that has the reservoir & seat and a water section for flushing. It has 2 pieces that snap together & can be described as a camping cassette toilet. When it's full you can dump it in any dump station, a sewer catch basin, porta-potty, etc. During deer hunting season in November it can get down to freezing so I add a little RV anti-freeze to the water compartment so that the flusher doesn't freeze up. You can also add some RV sanitizer to the poop reservoir to change the bad smell into a slightly less offensive smell. Some brands help to digest & break down the paper & solids.

Thank you for this ! as a van lifey 😁I don't DO THE "DO " 😂 in my van . that was my own personal bowel 😂 I mean vowel to myself but I do have what's called my Tinkle cups ..I buy styrofoam cups at the 99 store and tinkle away ! I then place the litter at the bottom of my trash and the lemon scented kitchen bags . my trash can is one of those mechanical ,ones you know the one with the automatic lids on it. and then add a tiny bit more cat litter to help with the scent (I'm such a feline) ..😸✨✨✨✨ but regarding pooping .like the other young lady said I pretty much know when I have to go. and I do have a morning routine 👑 . I usually wake up every morning around 5- 6am by that time I have fixed up my blankets a bit and took a bird bathed ,( baby wipe wipe down 😁 ) and I Usually go into a 24 hour or early morning store and ask for a cup of warm water ( it's been my routine even when I lived in a traditional house) and if I can get a lemon 🍋 I'll get one of those too. I'll simply go to the BR sip on the warm water while doing the ,"DO" this will help cleanse all of it out pretty quickly so I'm not sitting in a public bathroom for more than I'd like . I don't usually like Starbucks because it has so much traffic coming in and out of the bathroom and bathrooms are usually for all genders and I STILL don't like sharing a public bathroom with guys ( js ) but Starbucks does open up as early as 4am in some areas. so I can get in there early right after the morning shift just cleaned the bath room 😁! I might not get there right at 4 but around 6:30 is still peace and quite 😁 I can also be charging up my jackeries on the mean time . ( . But my absolute favorite place to poop is a Denny's bath room it's 24 hours and they usually have dim lighting so pooping can be quite relaxing and they do have lemons and hot water 😁 Walmart is tricky but depends . Target lights are too bright and the AC ,is always blasting .🤣 I can not take a comfortable poop if I'm freezing 🥶 , and I won't poop in a gas station ABSOLUTELY NOT ! for the obvious reasons ... And I know what you're thinking... in case of an emergency..?? what will I do ? Welp I do keep extra bags and that litter will definitely come in handy . But I been 3 years in my van and only had one of those emergencies that's why I voweled to keep my bowels elsewhere .🤣 Any who .. Thanks for letting me share .. I actually went looking up how to poop in your van and wanted to see how I might be convinced to do so, because eventually I'll leave the California beaches ( and no I don't poop in the beach bathroom ..and reason as the gas station . Lol I'll be heading to some BLM land and want to be sure I'm prepared.. PREPARED. ! LIGHT AND LOVE ✨ vangirl Cam Girl Jae' 💕

Lugable loo (a toilet seat and lid on a 5 gallon bucket) plus bags for poo and a funnel and jug for pee. for backpacking : I also have a Freshette (funnel) and a large tent stake for digging. I carry a Kula cloth to use instead of TP when peeing, and save the TP for poo. Must haul out all of your TP. I also have a little red plastic bucket for peeing when I am inside a tent or vehicle and don't have the toilet seat. It has a lid. I can dump it later. Hey girlfriend, What perfect idea to do your video at Gutted. There didn't seem shortage of ways to do your business. Talk soon.

OK, am I the only one who realizes that human poop is not supposed to be put in the trash? Even if you're healthy, dumping bags of #2 in the garbage or a dumpster can cause serious health hazards. Pee isn't the same problem because it's sterile, but . . . yuck.

I think there are ways to be sanitary about it, just as with baby diapers and dog waste.

At the next get together please compile a video about showering. Someone please! Explain the how tos of sponge bath ...i mean how do u not spill water all over the floor of your home on wheels. And the baby wipe bath explain how it takes the sweat away... i do not like that "sticky sweat feeling" i can NOT fall asleep at night without a shower. Is there hope for me?
@LadyBugout3 жыл бұрын
I’ll see what I can do. I think maybe you should try some of the methods out at home and see how it goes. ☺️

There is a foaming product for cleaning up without water that I like. It is made by Medline, called Remedy with Olivamine. Some hospitals send it home with surgery patients. I found it online. I just use a damp wash cloth, but I’m hoping that large body wipes will work well too. I agree about the sticky sweaty feeling and going to bed clean.

I bought my foldable toilet from Amazon. The young gal in the video took it off the roof of her rig and the toilet was in a black bag. You really have to squat, only 11 inches in height. It works, folds down flat instead of having a bucket type toilet. I use to have the 3 legged toilet for camping but one of the legs would not fold down so I had to find something better. I prefer, fold flat, no fussing with wonky stuck legs.

A bed pan with a bag inside of it works great for number 1 or 2. It has less bulk so it saves on space.

Great video, Dee! I’m considering doing a no- build build in a minivan (Dodge Caravan with stow and go seats) even though I have a little towable. My last trip in June was SO expensive towing my trailer so I’m thinking for long trips (Alaska🤞) I can just take a minivan.

That is an excellent idea! It’s just not worth it to do much more with prices the way they are. 😬

To pee I use a 75 oz. laundry soap container with a cap that has a female cap rather then a male cap that screws into the container. I take out the little funnel thing. These are good because they have a larger opening then a soda bottle plus they have a handle to hold while using it. Good for a guy but maybe not for a girl. You can use the smaller one but would have to empty it more often. I didn't see any other videos where people use a laundry soap container so I hope this helps people. Plus, to store it, it just looks like you have laundry soap!
