The tenor/flute is a Wong regular and is insanely good. Grace on bari/clarinet is a guest. The trombone/double-belled euphonium appears quite often with Wong including that euphonium.

Hi Shawka, glad you lent your ear to these masters once more! I loved your breakdowns of some of the technicalities here, as well as your pure mind blown-ness and deep appreciation of all the musicians involved in this clip. As someone else mentioned: This tune, along with the all the other tracks on this album, Turbo, was conceived, written, arranged, recorded and filmed during the COVID and lockdown years, when both bands couldn’t travel and were stuck on the two respective continents, -Cory and his horns in the US, the Loops in Sweden. Check out the interview between Cory and Henrik on his podcast ‘Cory and the Wong Notes’ :) There also is another very detailed interview with Jonah on Stratele Studio’s channel, where one can get the lowdown on so many fascinating things about Dirty Loops, that Cory Wong collab, and generally how their minds work behind the scenes… So Cory and the Loops decided to swing this tune in 12/8, traded charts, files and arrangement ideas via email, FaceTime etc., filmed it on two identical sets with identical props, and later Aron edited all the video footage together to create the illusion that it’s all happening on the one stage. Incredible 🤪 The horns here are one stellar group of musicians, every single one of them! They’re all worth a deep dive. Some are members of the original, one and only Hornheads. Originally founded by Prince, they toured and recorded extensively with him as well as with many other world-class artists. One of them is Michael Nelson. He also is a super arranger and composer in his own right. Check out Hornheads on Wikipedia and on their own website-. They get to shine variously on all of the tracks of this album, 7 in total. Do yourself a favour and check those out as well. It’s all been released on Cory’s channel-. Only four of the album’s tracks have a music video attached, and they are all great! But that FUNK intro by Henrik on ‘Zap’ blows my mind every single time💥💥💥!!! Also really interesting I thought, was a very in-depth interview of Anthony Marinelli, super arranger, composer and master of all keys and synth instruments, by ‘ Dead Wax’, on the making of Thriller. A real eye opener!! Loved loved your reaction to this track tho! Your various faces at 0:46 🤪, at around 7:30 and 9:14! LOL! And it was super cool that you mentioned dynamics, as in their ‘sfz to piano’ after that epic middle section. There’s so much happening in terms of dynamics. Also Jonah’s vocals, and how he layers them in the background….In that middle section, you mentioned ‘dreamy’ -yeah! I also think of it as a cinematic journey through different time periods and musical styles. And at the other end, it all turns so Stevie Wonder-esque! The only thing to add to what you’ve brought to this tune: Whilst Michael wrote and arranged many of his own songs, the original Thriller was written by Rod Temperton, a music writing genius by all accounts. But darn, I wish you’d do more Dirty Loops reactions (or Dirty Loops and Cory Wong)! So much interesting info in your reactions! Thanks a bunch 🙏☺️👍

Fun fact: Cory and his band filmed their part of this vid in the US and Dirty Loops filmed in Sweden. Then the video was cut to seem like they're in the same space.

They never met each other before doing this video. They did it all over zoom. I don’t believe it was recorded live so that may be why you thought he was doing the fill with one hand. Aron fooled you.

@@rmadler2007Aron does one-handed fills quite a bit. There is no detail in the audio that isn’t represented accurately in the video, especially Aron- who, by the way, does all the video editing.

Someone else who appreciates that horn section. So tight. Bro you have to check out their ep that they just released. "When the time is right" is a crazy mix of classical funk and too many things to list. And the cover of Stevie wonders " living for the city" is amazing. You have to do more dirty loops reactions because you understand the amazing things they are doing musically that many dont understand. I never noticed Aaron's one handed fill before. 😮

I would count this in 12/8. the run you noticed is (in 12/8) a quadruplet (4 over 3) run. That really is a double-belled euphonium. Fun fact: Cory Wong’s band is recording in the US and Dirty Loops is recording in an identically appointed studio in Sweden; the two views were merged in post-production. Cory had commented in an interview what a crazy setup it was. The Cory Wong horn section is, in fact, Prince’s ‘horn heads’ … the bari sax/clarinet player is Grace Kelly who has recently recorded her own solo album.

Dirty Loops are 3 friends who attended The Stockholm Royal Academy of Music together to study classical composition and Jazz. They write a lot of their own music and Aron does most of the bass lines for Henrik as well as drums. Jonah does virtually ALL the vocals including multi layers where needed. I love your reactions! Please please, pretty please react to Marcin, the 24yo Polish percussive guitar virtuoso! He is dubbed to be the best acoustic guitarist in the world right now and for a good reason. He just released an album called Dragon in Harmony, but he has a lot of catalog prior to that, too. From the album my favorites are When the Light Goes featuring Portugal. The Man, Classical Dragon with Tim Henson and Heart-Shaped Box. Those have music videos. Before the album his arrangement of Kashmir and Toccata and Fugue are incredible! Literally anything from his catalogue will be mind-blowing!
