You should mention that they actually suffer from some thermal throttling when plugged in due to extra heat and being passive cooling. Also when you have a gaming laptop you want max performance and will be plugged in to achieve that. I think it would be fair points to mention. Thanks for your videos they are what helped me make the decision on what device to get (gen 7 legion 5 i pro). 32gb 3070ti 2x 1tb storage.

I bought the Aero because of your review. Got it for $1460 open box from Best Buy. I couldn’t be happier. Perhaps largely because of the price. And also the glossy 4K oled screen. Super rare for laptops that have gaming specs to have a screen like that. It’s one of the reasons I’ve always envied the XPS line but they’ve never had the GPU for me. The lack of ports is the only knock, but this isn’t my main machine (I have a desktop and a MBP) and I’ve been living dongle/Bluetooth life for a while now. Overall incredibly happy.

Thanks for this rundown - very helpful as I'm in the market for a laptop and didn't have a starting point besides Dell. FYI - the ASUS ProArt Studiobook comes in standard and "Pro" models. The standard is what is reviewed and linked, but its cited in the tables and listing as the Pro version. Pro adds a $1000 easy. I've narrowed it to the ProArt (std) and the Aero, with the Aero in the lead right now simply based on price for available build. Thanks again!

The Aero was my most anticipated laptop up until I learned it had a poor port selection, especially no SD card, no MUX, apparently not so great speakers, and though I'd go for the mini LED screen, I don't know if it has G sync. I am tired of compromises like these.

Which laptop would you recommend for me? I’m having a very hard time choosing. For awhile I plan to just be editing videos at 1080p and photo editing through Lightroom. The hang up with the new Aero for most people (after $$$) seems to be ports since the new body went full "dongle life" with only USB-C (not a fan but I guess it was inevitable with the design shift to be more like MBP or XPS). Yes Gigabyte includes a dongle in the box but the older design was beloved for basically having every port you would need.

What can and what cannot do an i5-1135G7 ? I have an HP 15, with that Intel processor, and Iris Xe graphics. I want to know if it worth to upgrade the RAM to 36gb (32+4) and storage for photo editing and light video edit (1080p from a smartphone and a Canon M100).

Check if it supports up that much Ram because if it's only support say 20gb of Ram you'll be wasting 16gb worth of Ram. Storage upgrade of course no problem but keep your old drive if you do upgrade, and turn it into an external ssd (250gb or 500gb is quite alot) Do remember that if you chose to upgrade the ram it will run in single channel and not dual channels. I've saw test running 2x8gb vs 4gb+ 8gb and 4gb+ 16gb, overall dual channel is better but I don't have the resource to test that myself so take it with a grain of salt.

@@amermeleitor You could always upgrade it to that much Ram (keep the old ram stick in a safe place) and when you bought a stronger laptop just put the high capacity ram in your new one and the old one put it back into your old laptop. Additionally if your new laptop come with 2x8gb ram, you could use 1 to put in the old one with on board 4gb of Ram while the new one use 2x16gb or 2x32gb. This path cost a little bit more but the better performance and stability is worth it imo. TL:DR, if you do plan to buy a newer and stronger laptop somewhere down the line, is fine if you upgrade now.

I'm waiting on the Gigabyte Aero 5 xe4 to go on sale, missed it at $1800 last month unfortunately. I've found basically nobody talking about it compared to the Aero 16. Both have i7-12700h and 3070ti but the Aero 5 has a bunch more ports compared to the Aero 16. Also considering the Asus ProArt but I think I like the Gigabyte specs more for longevity (and also as a gamer on the side).

@@Manihsi I bought one and it's amazing man, but you 110% will need a cooling pad. In all my research, the best one, bar none, that I came across is the IETS GT500 turbo fan. According to CoeTemp it keeps me icy cool, below 40C when not under a load, and below 80C when rendering 4k footage.

AERO 16 was on sale for $1499.00 ddr4 ram model Port selection is garbage. That dongle attachment is a junky fit. Have to insert the dongle for a mouse. Screen is the best by far.

The Acer Swift X cannot handle 4K editing by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately wasted money on this thing for it to struggle to even open Davinci Resolve, plus it constantly crashes.

I am looking to get a cheap workhorse laptop for my on-the-go lightroom editing after photo shoots and I was looking at the ZenBook 14 OLED for +/-700USD and no matter which store I looked at, no matter which country, I couldn't find one below 1,200 EUR lol... I used the Strix with premier pro ending 10 bit 4:2:2 4k and even making proxies switching the graphics driver to the studio driver and it worked horrible! I couldn’t hardly edit anything I talked to the people i got it from they said it was and Adobe issue I contacted Adobe and still horrible!! I even beefed up the inside components…… pretty disappointed over all!
