She's kind of a "Janis Joplin meets Bonnie Tyler" with some Dio sprinkled here and there. These kids have a lot of potential. They say they want to bring rock music back to prominence, they are the future and their time is coming. I really want them to succeed.

I don't know if you have ever heard of Greta Van Fleet, but they are a young band from Michigan that has a 70's rock sound like Led Zeppelin. They sound a lot like them but have all original music. Checkout "Highway Tune" and "When the Curtain Falls" by them.

@@paulwilliams819 I was a big GVF fan in the early going. Still like them, but they sound too much like Led Zep still to me. I love the fact that Liliac has it's roots in pop from way back and that they can change up any song they do and not sound strictly like other metal band whenever they want. Having Lililac, GVF, Taf Farrant and Courtney Hadwin all bring Rock N Roll back to the young generations of today is what I'm loving. "Rock Never Dies"

As a Gen X'er, the generation who saw the explosion of real metal, I'm impressed not just with the talent here, which is obvious, but with the reverence these guys have for where it all came from. My first concert, at the age of 15, was Iron Maiden World Slavery Tour, with Megadeth opening. I've seen every metal great there is to see - I stopped trying to count the number of bands I've seen 20 years ago. I sang for my band Rebellion in high school, and I play it all on guitar. And now I would LOVE to see THESE kids live. I like some of their original stuff as well - Nothing is a great song. I'll be keeping my eye on their tours.

I'm 66, and I was never really a big "metal" fan, but I like music from a lot of genres. (as my playlists will show) I ran across a video of them on Santa Monica Pier almost 4 years ago, doing "Crazy Train". I did some searching, and found "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, and I was hooked. I watched everything I could find on them. I think Melody did the best cover of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" that I have ever heard. That said, I'm not as big of a fan of their second album (although I bought both) as their first. The biggest reason I can come up with, is that Melody seems to be putting a bigger emphasis on the high pitched, or 'screeching' notes, than she did before, and I feel it takes away from the quality of her voice. Just MHO.

Insane Vocals!!!!! A lot of ways to define great vocalists; power, range, head chest transitions, tone, clarity, etc. It can be argued till the end of time who is the best. However, when you look at the notable greats in this genre and those with actual talent and abilities, Melody is in the mix and can be argued as the best herself. Obviously personal tastes plays part. I hear a lot of comparisons to others, and justifiably so but I would argue she is all of that plus she brings something others don't or don't do well consistently or not the right pitch. She does this thing with her voice, that I compare to "harmonic screams", some call screeches or squeals, done on a guitar. Randy Rhoads was a master of these and hardly noticeable because his timing and pitch was flawless and infused with his metal / classical fusion and it made the riff, rhythm, lead and fills fuller. Set him apart from all others and arguably the best guitarist and he died young at 26. IMHO Melody is the Randy Rhoads of vocals. He didn't play like Yngwie Malmsteen, (alot for show but highly talented) but to make the song live and transcend time. Not to mention her ability to distort her voice, almost consistently, not loose her voice and push it through her vibratos; she is nearly doing the impossible. She is young, you can hear her growth through the years and only getting better and more creative with her instrument. I have been craving a female vocalist that raised the bar and brought something new and had the ability to lure you in with her voice. Blown away....
