@@id.unregistered eh, it was just apple doing apple things. It's not that it's a bad headset. It has a powerful processor and pretty visuals. The problem is that apple coming into the market was seen as another big tech name entering the game to compete with meta and further legitimize the VR market, increase competition with brand recognition, and drive prices down helping to grow the VR community. The community really did have high hopes for this one. What we got was a glorified MacBook accessory. It's a productivity headset without compatibility to any current VR gaming platforms, no controllers, and a sky-high price tag. Basically, Apple entered the room, and rather than sitting down with the community, they went outside to eat their lunch. The Vision Pro is a $2500 ish media headset that only works on apple hardware. With the current updates, the quest 3 can accomplish about 90% of the Vision Pro for a quarter or less of the cost. As a result, the influx of folks it could have brought into the community if they'd brought a competitively priced, apple branded, gaming headset never happened. Pretty much the biggest industry tease and let down of the year.
