The problem with the powermatic 80 is that it will last roughly 3 years before needing replacement because it has plastic parts inside

False! The parts you are referring to(the pallet for and escape wheel) are made of Derlin which is extremely strong and self lubricating. The lube in the rest of the movement will dry up long before those Derlin parts fail. The service interval of the Powermatic is no different than most other mechanical watches. Will easily run for 5-7 years without needing any intervention!
